A table with a bunny ear stamped tablecloth.

It’s easy to customize your party decor with this simple grade-school craft. Carve various stamps from a potato and create a patterned cover for your dessert table.

Bring back the fun of potato-stamping by creating one to add bunny ears or other shapes to your party table. Little snippets of Elinor and her friends are everywhere with this fun project!

Materials

Directions

1

Start by carving your potato stamp. Using a small kitchen knife, carve two small bat wings, bunny ears, or round elephant feet.

2

Once you’ve carved out your shape, remove the outer area around the shape to create the raised “stamp” part.

3

Remove excess moisture from the potato by pressing against a paper towel several times.

4

Cut the brown paper the length of your table with a little extra hanging over each edge. Secure with tape.

5

Paint a thin layer of paint on the potato stamp. We selected black paint for bat wings and white paint for bunny ears, but you can choose whatever color combination you’d like.

6

Press the potato stamp firmly against the brown paper. Gently lift up to reveal the shapes underneath! Repeat as many times as you like creating a random pattern all over the table cover.

7

Let the stamped shapes dry and then place your snacks, presents, and decor on the table as needed!

Potato stamps are a fun and unique way to add some personalization to your party. The patterns are a nod to Elinor and her friends, and it’s a nice touch to your party setup! Because you’re working with a knife to carve the shape, please use caution and be sure that an adult does the carving. However, you can include your little one in the stamping fun afterward!
