Make a Trolley Bed for a Stuffie

My children have many friends, but none as close as their favorite stuffie! They make sure that their stuffies do everything with them, including eating, sleeping, and playing. Taking care of a favorite stuffie is an excellent way for them to learn about kindness and compassion. They enjoy caring for their stuffie just like their dad, and I care for them!
Daniel made a trolley bed for his favorite stuffie, Tigey. Daniel wanted Tigey to feel comfy and cozy during nap time because Tigey is special to him! Taking care of a stuffie can help your child develop a sense of social responsibility and show how to be caring and kind. Making this fun trolley bed will get your child in the habit of taking care of their stuffie when tucking it in for naps and bedtime!
Materials
Directions
Use colorful paper, stickers, and markers to decorate the outside of your shoebox. If your box isn’t easy to draw on, you can glue paper to the sides so that your child can decorate it.

Take a pair of old socks and turn them into a pillow for the stuffie. Stuff one sock inside of the other to create a nice comfy pillow! Talk to your child about how this will help them in taking care of a favorite stuffie. What types of things can they do to help their stuffie get ready to go to sleep?

Take an old shirt or blanket and cut out a large square. Glue it to the inside of the box to create a mat in the trolley bed for their stuffie.

Take a shirt or blanket and cut out another square for the blanket. It should be large enough so that your child’s stuffie can be comfy and cozy in their trolley bed! Discuss with your child how taking care of a favorite stuffie can make them feel happy because they are caring for someone else.

Now your child’s trolley bed for their stuffie is complete and ready for naps and bedtime! Is your child as excited as Daniel was to share his creation with his class during show and tell?
