It may be cold outside, but you and your kids can warm up inside by playing a fun letter scramble game using paper snow mittens. This letter scramble is great for kids who are just learning letters or are starting to spell a few small words. It also works for older kids who are practicing their weekly spelling words.

Materials

Directions

1

Using a pencil, trace and cut out about 30 small snow mitten shapes from your paper. Hint: a good size is about 2'' x 3''.

2

Decorate the paper mittens with crayons or markers to give them a fun look.

3

Using a dark marker or crayon, add a letter to the center of each mitten. Make sure to use every letter in the alphabet at least once before adding extra vowels.

4

Find the letters and unscramble! Place letters on the table and try to identify specific words, or ask your child to look for one letter and work on letter recognition or sounds. Older children can try to identify words from mixed up letters. The possibilities are endless!

Encourage learning in your children with this fun and engaging activity! Adding some snow mitten fun can spice things up. You can also customize this game to go along with any season or holiday, or by using other sorts of fun shapes.
