Paper Plate Ukulele

Jun 10, 2019

Add some musical fun to your Peg + Cat birthday party with this paper plate ukulele craft.

Materials

Directions

1

Have your party guests paint the backs of two paper plates with brown paint. Let dry.

2

Cut a circle from the center of the third paper plate and color the circle black.

3

Paint the ruler or paint stirrer stick brown. Let dry.

4

Cut a small crescent shape out of the side of one of the brown painted paper plates so that the two painted plates will nestle side by side together.

5

Glue one end of the painted ruler to the unpainted side of the uncut paper plate. Secure the back with duct tape for added stability.

6

Glue the two brown paper plates together. The plate with the crescent shape should overlap the uncut plate.

7

Glue the small black circle to the front, covering the point where the two plates connect.

8

With the pointed tip of the scissors, poke three small holes in the bottom plate of the ukulele. (Small children can use a pencil tip to poke the holes or have adult assistance.)

9

Thread the three strands of twine/yarn through the three holes at the front of the ukulele and secure each with a knot at the back of the plate.

10

Pull the twine tight across the front of the ukulele and over the tip of the ruler, then secure the strands by wrapping a strip of duct tape around the ruler near the tip. Make sure the duct tape captures the strands both on the front and back of the ruler, pulling the strands taut around the tip of the ruler.

11

Paint the duct tape brown.

12

After the glue and paint have dried, it's time for a Peg + Cat concert.
