Super Reader Mask

Oct 1, 2026
A child is ready to go on a Super Reader adventure wearing a superhero costume including a cape and her Super Reader mask.

Calling all Super Readers! Super Why’s Comic Book Adventures is set in Reader Valley, where letters, words, and sounds have real power. Every episode, Super You helps solve literacy problems and save the day!

Super You is an important member of the Super Reader team. When episodes of this series were tested with kids, they would sometimes show up dressed as superheroes! With this craft, your child can create their own Super Reader mask and feel even more like a member of the team.

Materials

Directions

1

Print the Super Reader mask: For best results, print the mask on card stock.

2

Design and decorate the mask: Encourage your child to add the first letter of their name or help them create and write a superhero version of their name on their mask. Ask them to think about what their Super Reader power is. Do they have alphabet power? They can write letters on their mask! Do they have spelling power or the power to read? You can help them add words to their mask! Get creative and try to incorporate literacy where possible!

3

Cut out the mask: Cut along the dotted lines or help your child cut out the mask themselves.

4

Tie the mask in place: Thread elastic string through each hole and tie the mask around your child’s head.

5

Transform!: Encourage your child to wear their Super Reader Mask while watching episodes or playing. Add any additional elements, like a superhero cape or power pencil! Super job, Super You!
