Tie Key Chain

Take the narrow tail end of the tie and push it through the ring (away from you) about 5''. Make sure the seam of the tie is facing down.

Fold the tail sideways around the ring so that it points to the right. You should be able to see the seam.

Wrap the tail back towards the left, over the top of the tie (where it folds through the ring).

Keep wrapping the tail around the back of the ring plus tie until the seam shows (this should look like a knot on a tie). Then pull the tail through the ring and down through the knot.

Grab the ring and the tie and pull on both to tighten the knot.

Flip the tie over and use your scissors to snip off the excess material. The side you cut should be about 1-2'' shorter than the pointed side. Snip off the edges to mimic the front of a tie or leave it cut bluntly. Add some glue to the edges to prevent any fraying.

Now it's time to add the keys! If you'd like, wait until the gift is delivered and add Dad's actual keys to the ring. If this gift is more of a cute gesture rather than a practical present, draw an outline of a key on card stock. Write a nice message in pen or marker before cutting it out. Depending on your child's age, he might need help cutting it out.

Punch a hole at the top of the paper key so that you can attach it to the key ring. Now it becomes a card and present in one! Happy Father's Day!
