Make a Tissue Paper Shamrock Craft

Dec 10, 201920 min activity
A finished tissue paper shamrock.

It doesn't matter if you're Irish or not, every leprechaun will love participating in this festive project.

Materials

Directions

1

Draw a shamrock on a piece of green construction paper. Shamrocks have three heart-shaped leaves! Cut out the shamrock.

2

Trace the shamrock onto a piece of cardboard. Cut the shamrock from the piece of cardboard and glue it to the back of the construction paper shamrock for stability.

3

Cut out a lot of one-inch squares of green tissue paper.

4

Add tissue paper rosettes one by one to the green side of the shamrock cut-out. To do this, wrap a tissue paper square around the eraser end of a pencil to make a little rosette.

5

Then, with the rosette still wrapped around the pencil, dip its bottom in a dap of glue.

6

Place the rosette on the shamrock cut-out and use your fingers to carefully slide it off of the pencil. The rosette should stand up on its own.

7

Continue adding rosettes to the shamrock cut-out until it's completely covered.

8

Optional: Cut long strips of colored tissue paper in a rainbow of colors. Tape them to the back of the shamrock cut-out in rainbow order, so that they hang down below the shamrock.

9

Hang the shamrock tissue paper decoration on your door or on the wall to decorate your space for St. Patrick's Day!
