Soft Pretzel Numbers

Jun 14, 2019

1 + 2 = a delicious treat. Serve up sensational soft pretzels in the shape of numbers and math symbols at your Peg + Cat birthday party.

Materials

Directions

1

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a cookie sheet with foil, and spray lightly with non-stick cooking spray.

2

Mix active dry yeast with warm water, stirring until dissolved. Add in one tablespoon of sugar and one teaspoon of salt.

3

Slowly stir in the flour, about half a cup at a time, until the dough is thick and no longer sticky.

4

Lightly flour a work surface and knead the dough for about 4 minutes.

5

Break off a piece of dough, about the size of a golf ball, and roll it out into a long, skinny tube shape. Repeat with all the dough. Shape the tubes of dough into the numbers 1-10, addition, subtraction, equals, and greater than/less than signs.

6

Dip each pretzel number or symbol into the beaten egg, coating the entire surface of the dough.

7

Set all of the numbers and symbols on the foil lined baking sheet and sprinkle with coarse salt.

8

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, then set the oven to broil and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes to brown the tops. Pass these out to your party guests and let them practice their math skills before enjoying a delicious treat!
