INNOVATIVE DESIGN STUDY

113

Architects: Richard Meier & Partners Architects, Eisenman Architects, Gwathmey Siegel & Associates, Steven Holl Architects
The buildings on the site -- five vertical towers with interconnecting horizontal floors -- were designed by the team to "resemble the interlaced fingers of protective hands. " The towers would reach 1,111 feet and at the bottom, the buildings would form "ceremonial gateways leading into the site."

Reproduced with permission of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation.
