print version Art:21 has distributed all 10,000 printed copies of the Season Two Educators' Guide and is not accepting requests for printed copies at this time. Thanks to all of the educators who have ordered the Guide and use it in their classrooms. about The Guide includes Before Viewing and After Viewing questions as well as suggestions for hands-on activities. These suggestions are interdisciplinary and will support various disciplines including the Visual and Performing Arts, Language Arts, and Social Studies. Internet addresses where you can find additional images of artists' work and connections to the Online Lesson Library are included throughout the Guide. Designed for use at the secondary level, the content can be easily adapted for younger or older groups. Additional features in the Season Two Guide include additional quotes and background materials for each of the featured artists and themes, more detailed subject area connections, and extended resources for bringing contemporary art and artists into your classroom or community. The Season Two Educators' Guide was written by Jessica Hamlin, Art:21 Director of Education and Outreach (2002-06), and Stephanie Diamond, Education Consultant, with the support of the Season Two Education Advisory Council, comprised of teachers, museum educators, and curriculum specialists. Art:21 Educators’ Guides are designed to be used in conjunction with the "Art in the Twenty-First Century" series on PBS. Season Two can be purchased on VHS and DVD through PBS and Davis Publications. Educators who intend to show the series in their classrooms can also record "Art in the Twenty-First Century" off the air when it is broadcast by local PBS stations. Check with your local station to learn when the series will air next in your area. |
