"It’s playing with high-art form. I adore the ballet, but in some ways it’s a completely ridiculous art form. It is so stupid, but it can be very beautiful. And I dealt with it because of its interest to me as a classical art form that deals essentially with beauty. And then, of course, it’s complex history with Diaghilev as the disseminator of modern art, modernism, as it were, in the popular culture."
