"It was about spinning a cube. If you ride it, you’re physically moving at one speed or at one direction and perceptually it’s spinning at another speed or in an opposite direction. I guess I was thinking about the idea of the carnival and the fun house being connected to sculpture, coming out of an influence of ‘60s Happenings, and having the viewer go through an experience—the idea of making a ride as a sculpture (Mad House being like a title for a carnival ride)."
