There are no surviving
official racing records documenting the drivers and
cars registered in the Gold and Glory Sweepstakes during
its run from 1924 through 1936. The best records available
are found in microfilm copies of three leading African-American
newspapers: the Indianapolis Freeman, the Chicago Defender,
and the Indianapolis Recorder. Information from these
three publications was syndicated and distributed to
other leading black newspapers throughout the country.
The following list of drivers, cars and racing details
is taken primarily from these sources. In some cases,
little is known of the results of the race, other than
the name of the winning driver and the model of his
car.
