David Soffer, 71, retiree

David came to Israel by himself at the age of 10 from Baghdad. He can still remember the king in Baghdad -- King Faisal. After working as a taxi driver for years, he is now retired. David is the father of three and the grandfather of 13.

“I will vote for Kadima. Its ministers are better than the rest. The Labor Party leader -- Amir Peretz -- is politically weak. He can be strong with the unions.”

David is referring to Peretz’s past as the head of the Workers Union of Israel, a position he held for years.

“I’m not going to be any richer; I had my share. But I wish we had a better economic situation. Netanyahu did something good for the economy, but he is too much a dictator; this is why people hate him. Amir Peretz is good for retirees, but he isn’t that eloquent in politics.”
