Suzanne Mintz is President of the National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA), a grassroots organization reaching out to all family caregivers, and she serves on the board of the National Health Council. Mintz co-founded the NFCA after her extensive personal experience with caregiving when her husband was stricken with a chronic illness. The stress of her caregiving responsibilities contributed to two bouts of clinical depression, which she successfully overcame. Through NFCA she helps other family caregivers avoid the debilitating problems that providing full-time care for an ill family member can cause. |
