Unveiling the Latest and Greatest in E-Reading Technology
Every week, it seems, there's an announcement of a new electronic reader -- a new gadget for reading that is NOT one of those of soft or hardbound pieces of printed matter we've all carried around with us all our lives.
The world is changing, yes, but how fast? Priya Ganapati, staff writer for Wired magazine, is at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, testing out the latest products, and she tells us: Very fast. She points to Amazon's recent announcement that on Christmas Day it sold more e-books to readers than regular books. "It shows that consumers are willing to give up on the idea of holding a real book," she says.
Convenience seems to be the biggest attraction so far. New products, Ganapati tells us, are adding some flash, including color screens.
