Obama in NYC: 'When We Say "We Will Never Forget," We Mean What We Say'

Marking the death of Osama bin Laden at the site of the terrorist's biggest attack, President Obama placed a wreath Thursday at Ground Zero in New York.

He said that bin Laden's killing on Sunday "sent a message around the world but also sent a message here back home that "when we say 'We will never forget,' we mean what we say."

Before the wreath-laying ceremony, President Obama visited with firefighters at the Engine 54 firehouse in Midtown Manhattan:

Months before the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the president closed his eyes and clasped his hands at the outdoor memorial where the World Trade Center towers once dominated the New York skyline. He shook hands with 9/11 family members and others dressed in black at the site.
