The Doubleheader: Shields and Brooks on S.C. Debates, Super Bowl Picks

By: Hari Sreenivasan

The first edition of the Doubleheader for 2012 is here.

Syndicated columnist Mark Shields and New York Times columnist David Brooks tackle Topic No. 1 of the debates in South Carolina last night. If you missed the debate -- and the first question by CNN's John King -- it was about Newt Gingrich's character and what his second ex-wife told ABC's Nightline about the former House Speaker wanting an "open marriage." (If you still feel out of the loop, just read today's Morning Line. Or better yet, subscribe to the daily morning emails and stay on top of political news throughout the election cycle.)

David Brooks also shared a tale of re-gifting, which makes one wonder how far and wide the reach of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is (and where his ties are made). Our dynamic duo also lays down their picks for the Super Bowl. Have a great weekend.
