Arguments in the United Nations, global protests and forthright pronouncements from world leaders have focused Americans for a moment on the issue of world opinion. The warm feelings for the U.S. engendered in many by the attacks of September 11, 2001 have worn thin in many areas of the globe. Even OPRAH dedicated a whole show to the task of exploring what the world thinks of America.

Late last year the The Pew Research Center for People and the Press released an extensive survey of world opinion. Included in the study were a number of questions designed to uncover the subtleties of foreign opinion on American politics, people, and lifestyles. In addition, Worldviews, a joint Chicago Council on Foreign Relations (CCFR) and German Marshall Fund of the United States conducted every four years since 1974 has just released its post-9/11 findings.
