NOW's story AS GOES MAINE... touches on emerging issues in American demographics — the aging of the Baby Boom generation and the cost of health care. According the Census Bureau estimates, at least half of the states will have senior populations that are at or over 20 percent of their total population by the year 2025. In addition, the U.S. population of under 65-year-olds that are uninsured continues to grow.

Below is a state-by-state listing of health departments. Use these state web sites to find the names of your local officials and other important information. For example, The State of Maine Health Department lets you file an insurance complaint online. The State of Ohio has a shopper's guide to health insurance.
