SERIES DESCRIPTION

PBS's SPACE STATION travels around the world, gaining unprecedented access to meetings, facilities and pre-launch activities, to provide viewers with a behind-the-scenes account of the development of the International Space Station - the most ambitious and expensive project ever attempted within or beyond the earth's atmosphere. In two 60-minute programs, viewers will share in the surprises, challenges, the human ingenuity, debates, tough decisions and even the disappointments of this monumental international effort. SPACE STATION follows engineers, scientists, managers and astronauts from NASA, as well as the Russian, Canadian, Japanese, Brazilian and European space agencies as they navigate the financial, technical and political challenges of the International Space Station. Viewers will discover through their eyes how and why this project of immense size and complexity is being built.
