I’m Chair of the Board of the WestCAT system used as an example in this piece, and I just want to say that I appreciate your bringing quandaries like ours to the public’s attention. The tragedy is that even with the support of legislators like State Senator DeSaulnier we still do not have adequate funding to keep our service on the street at levels that are attractive to the ridership, as Mr. Anderson said. It’s not just money that we need, it’s an entire change in attitude by government. Society cannot function without adequate mobility systems, and buses are an essential component.
