Saluki come in feathered and smooth varieties (according to AKC and to my experience in eastern Turkey). Sloughis are not yet recognized breed, but those called Sloughis are exclusively North African. The hounds in the video are salukis - one smooth. See also http://www.akc.org/breeds/saluki/index.cfm
What about the anatolion sheepard no mention they are siad to be 4 to 5000 years old
I want a husky!
These videos are really interesting and educational for me. They helped me answered some of my questions i had about evolution.
Yes, would like to see the Anatolian Shepherd, Ibizan and Azawakh hounds from Africa as well - genetically the Azawakh/Sloughi/Saluki are quite similar - eek on Afghans though! Smooth Salukis as beautiful too… saw a grizzle one at coursing once and he was awesome!
aren`t dalmatians really old to?

Morgan Says:
The dogs depicted with the Bedouins appear to me to be Sloughis, not Salukis; Salukis have long, silky feathering on their ears and tails, whereas Sloughis have short hair, like the dogs on the TV program. Otherwise, the two breeds appear to be almost identical. I could be wrong, but at least when I look the two breeds up, that is what I get!
