Australia Team: We embarked on this roadtrip because we were all at defining points in our lives: seeking a change in direction; making major decisions that would affect our futures; and trying to find out how we make careers out of our passions. Our reluctance was that taking the safe and practical approach to life would leave us empty, lacking the fire inside us which burns, eager for knowledge, life experience and personal growth. We were and still are, anxious to see what our futures hold— and at the same time hesitant to take that next step, in fear of waking up in 40 years’ time wondering where it all went.

Miami Dream Team: As college students, we are at a crucial junction in our lives.
Parents, teachers, counselors and other figures are all pointing
us in different directions: med school, law school, grad school,
and engineering degrees come to mind. The careers that are
lucrative and seemingly respected are often the most
recommended—but what about the things we love and are
passionate about? It is the premise of this roadtrip, in which we
put aside all the notions of playing it safe, and listen to people
who followed their dreams.
Series Description
Roadtrip Nation's fifth season spans two continents; as one team of college students from the University of Miami cross the United States, another team of young Australians hit the road “down under”. Despite living half a world away, both teams of roadtrippers share a common quest to connect with inspiring individuals who have discovered their own roads in life. Roadtrip Nation 2008 documents these journeys of self-discovery in a free-spirited, adventurous series that encourages people all across the globe to move outside their comfort zones and explore the world.
