Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser on Monday reported more than 5,000 total confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus. That includes about 260 deaths and 450 people hospitalized as a result of contracting the virus, putting the city’s hospitals at 78 percent of their normal capacity, Bowser said.
