Timeline
Birthday parties can be a lot of fun (and a lot of work!) To help you be present for the presents and enjoy the moment with your child, we've put together a comprehensive start to finish party plan for your birthday party adventure.
After you send out your fun party invitations 2 to 4 weeks ahead, it's time to start planning.
Shop for, print, and prepare any non-perishable items at least a week in advance. Make it a group effort by encouraging your child to help with the decorations if the party isn't a surprise.
If your party will be held outside, you will likely not be able to decorate much in advance, so schedule some time the morning of the party to hang decorations and put the final touches on your backyard.
The cookie pops can be decorated the day before the party, however the cupcake fondue bar, apple chef hats, and pizza pops should be prepared the day of. Set out the party food and style the desserts table just before the guests are due to arrive.
With all of the preparation set, you are ready to start the party. We suggest the following order of activities to help the day go smoothly. Let's get cooking!
Welcome guests with a fun activity
10-15 minutes minutes
Have your little guests color their very own placemat that they can eat off of later - the perfect activity to keep little hands busy while you wait for everyone to arrive.
Complete your look with a personalized chef hat
10-15 minutes minutes
Prepare these chef hats in advance so every little chef can have their own to wear at the party!
Decorate your own apron
20-25 minutes minutes
Get creative with your little guests as they decorate their own apron! Iron on the logo beforehand so that your guests can color to their heart's content.
Create your own little chef
25-30 minutes minutes
Get all the kids involved creating their own chef buddy! Every guest will enjoy creating their own little friend that they can take home with them after the party is over.
Time for cake and yummy treats
30 minutes minutes
Time to sing to the birthday child! Let your little chefs get creative in the kitchen and decorate their own cupcakes. This is a good time to eat lunch.
Take a group picture
15 minutes minutes
Make sure to capture the moment after the kids taste the treats in front of the clothespin banner and silverware starburst mirror!
Get ready to wind down
15-20 minutes minutes
Have your guests fill out and decorate these guest certificates (or birthday child certificate for the child of honor) as they wait to be picked up.
Hand out party favors and say goodbye
10-15 minutes minutes
Add crayons, goodies, and your child's favorite recipes to the recipe boxes for your guests to bring home as a delicious party favor.
