A child holds a cup of tropical fruit salad.

Your child and their party guests will enjoy this delicious snack made with tropical fruits. This fun fiesta salad may encourage some children to sample new fruit flavors and combinations.

Materials

Directions

1

Gather your tropical fruits and rinse off the exteriors to remove any debris.

2

Begin by carefully slicing your tropical fruits into bite-sized pieces. A sharp knife is best to cut through some of the tougher fruits like pineapples, so this step should be completed by an adult.

3

If you’re preparing your tropical fruit salad for a party, fill individual cups with a mixture of the various fruits. If you’re preparing it to enjoy over a few days with your family, simply place the salad in an airtight bowl and store in the refrigerator.

4

Serve the tropical fruit salad to party guests or to friends and family.

Explore Further

As your family and friends enjoy their tropical fruit salad, encourage conversation about what they taste, smell, see, and feel! You can ask questions like, “Which flavors do you prefer?” Or “What kinds of colors do you notice?” Children can compare and contrast the fruits to each other, or to other fruits that are a part of their daily snacks. Enjoy!
