As humans learn more about animal intelligence, we also are discovering that animals have a lot to teach us. Those lessons are the provocative subject of Wisdom of the Wild.
In a Tanzanian jungle, a scientist and a medicine man follow a chimpanzee in search of a cure for a deadly disease. On the plains of Kenya, a woman learns a powerful lesson about family — from a pair of elephants. And in the Florida Keys, an eight-year old boy with a genetic illness utters his first words, for a chance to swim with dolphins.
From the ancient world to the modern, human lives have been influenced by animals in matters that reach far beyond the food chain. Wisdom of the Wild illustrates some of the surprising ways in which animals help teach, heal, and strengthen people, in body, mind, and spirit.

Really great post. I couldnt agree more with some of the points that you brought up. Staying healthy is the way to go. I think that as long as one acts young.. Ie) Being funny, being fun to be around, cracking jokes, exerciseing, staying active, you will live a much longer and healthier life in general. I know so many people that do both. The ones that try to be young are mch happier in life and healthier as well. Thanks for sharing!
The connection between animals and humans is clearly demonstrated throughout history. Perhaps not as well understood as seen but there are connections we can’t perceive with our limited senses.
Using animals to “reawaken” challenged humans is a worthwhile pursuit. Here in Kentucky there are great programs using horses with children who are physically and mentally challenged.
Well put Keith! I think we’ve lost a lot of things that we have forgotten or still need to learn. The human race may be at the top but we are not the end all.
