Paul Root Wolpe Extended Interview

“The issue here is not BP’s behavior, it’s not the Obama administration’s behavior. It’s our behavior. That is where the deepest change has to happen.” Watch more of correspondent Kim Lawton’s interview with Emory University ethicist Paul Root Wolpe about the Gulf Coast oil spill.

Even though there are multitudinous global environmental crises, no one knows the carrying-capacity of the planet so we mustn’t panic ourselves into paralysis. If each of us can make some positive change in how we tread on the planet, large changes can occur. We can find ethical balance between environmental protection and economic sustainability if every one made one small lifestyle change. Some can do more, many can do some.
This is the law of synergy.

As a wise person said, “the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is now.”
It’s not too late. Keep the faith.
