The tradition I carry on is As a person of indigenous decent, a Choctaw Native, Black & Irish American, I live my life as an artist & person dedicated to the traditions of my forefathers. Sv hochifo yvt Jonathan R. Hawk. My adoptive father was Cherokee & Black, my birth mother was Choctaw & Black. Growing up as an adoptee, I have sought to retain my identity & know just who I am. It is important to me to be attached to my roots. As a mixed blood Native person, I find the cliche representation of our language & traditions by non-indigenous peoples to be destructive to our culture & especially to all of our children. My partner & I reflect our traditions, artistically through various social media to show indigenous people in word, dance, place & acts that reflect us in a good & meaningful way.
