I never expected to have Cancer so soon after my Mother died and especially after being tested for it before donating my kidney in 2017. In 2019 I chose to take time away from my art career to help care for her until she passed in November. I then helped my family with the funeral arrangements which culminated in her burial at the end of that month. Just 2 weeks later my doctor suspected I had Cancer. Tests followed with the final diagnosis Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at the beginning of January 2020. Since then I've endured more tests and Chemo and Radiation treatments. I recently learned I am now in remission, and my recovery continues along with lingering effects. I am seeing specialists for my heart and liver issues due to the treatments, while keeping my art career going so I can pay the continuing bills.
