My greatest challenge is navigating a world that isn’t meant for me. That doesn’t reflect my body. Stigmatizes me when they don’t see my illness and puts barriers up every time I ask for help.
My greatest challenge isn’t my disability but the system I fight against. My family advocating every step of the way. My father researching my condition and making sure I get proper care. My mother speaking up for me when I couldn’t find the words. My husband staying up with me, late nights and emergency room visits. The Years I spent with a doctor that neglected me. The surgery I had to fight to get, that saved my life.
My greatest challenge isn’t my disability. My disabilities are beautiful. It is who I am. It is all I have ever known. It has given me strength. It has given me a voice.
