A day’s work is…
A day's work is caring for people in a way that makes me feel like it's not even a job. Helping people through pregnancy, birth and postpartum period is something I've been passionate about for years, and I feel so lucky to be able to do what I do. Offering midwifery care in my office and in families' home, is such a personal experience unlike the provider-dominant relationship of the western medical model of practice. I discuss nutrition, emotional health, family dynamics, preparing for the birth and postpartum period, and this creates a wonderful bond with my clients, often leading to a friendship. I'm a registered nurse, but I am also an herbalist and truly believe that when there is an aliment we should first look at the food we're eating, then turn to herbal remedies and vitamin supplements, and if those don't work, then we turn to medicine. My clients appreciate this philosophy and my holistic approach to midwifery care.
