The tradition I carry on is being the 3rd generation to serve our nation in the military. My grandfather in WW1, my father in WW11, & my brother & I in the Vietnam War. We were all drafted & answered that call. Whether we believed at that time if the wars were just or not, our country called & we answered that call! We all felt an obligation to serve & half of our tour of duty was overseas. My father was a combat veteran, and a purple heart recipient. I too was a combat veteran. What we witnessed & experienced at times was hard to comprehend! Whether being in 100 degree temp. or monsoons for weeks on end. Wearing the same uniform for weeks at a time. Not knowing if any given day would be your last! Death was all around you. When I left Vietnam, my brother replaced me! Through it all we were honored to serve!
