My American dream is that children with disabilities and their families will be more fully included in important national discussions and decisions regarding issues of equality and diversity, and that their families will receive the respect, valuable resources, and respite needed to more fully realize their parenting dreams of full inclusion for their children, too. That includes access to greater life opportunities through education, community resources, employment and housing, and greater respect for their hard-won parenting efforts, something of which these individuals are incredibly deserving, yet rarely recognized. It's just another kind of family in 2021 working 24/7 to help make a difference in their children's challenged lives. Parenting children with special needs successfully is no small feat.
