The tradition I carry on is…
The tradition I carry on is creating finely crafted, handmade goods. I am a potter based out of Nashville, TN who creates ornate, hand-carved dishes. This isn't just my hobby. I am currently entering year 5 of being fully self-employed making almost all of my income off selling my wares. I do this because I believe handmade objects still have a place in contemporary society. I believe that living with hand-crafted items adds meaning and intentionality to our lives. In our fast paced, disposable culture, I want to slow people down and encourage them to engage in slow, deliberate moments of sustenance. If I can make just one person linger over their morning cup of coffee for a few moments longer (while they feel the curves of the shape and reflect on the many carved lines), then my mission is accomplished.
