I took a risk when…
I took a risk when I quit my full-time job at the age of 26 to start a business. The position I left was my first real job out of college and I gave up a steady income with good benefits to go after my entrepreneurial passions that may not work out. My life was comfortable and predictable, but I wanted more out of it: I had always been drawn to jobs that help people. In 2014, I was working and had just finished graduate school during which I developed the idea for Golden Beacon USA, a website for immigrants and refugees to learn about life in America. Making it into a business someday was the plan, but I convinced myself to stay in my job a little longer. Then my father, an immigrant himself, passed away and I decided it was now or never. I put in my notice and left my job in October 2014.
