.I was raised to believe that everyone deserves to have their rights represented. When I was a senior at Clifton High School, I decided to start with representing the rights of my community. I led the effort to declare Eid al-Adha ( a Muslim Holiday) as a public school holiday in Clifton, New Jersey. With the help of my friends, I was able to garner over 600 signatures from classmates and teachers at Clifton High School and schools nearby. To further raise awareness about the cause I was pursuing, I wrote an opinion piece in my high school newspaper. Over the course of six months, I went on to prove to the Clifton Board of Ed members why Eid Al-Adha should be considered a public school holiday. On March 9, 2016, the Clifton Board of Education declared Eid Al-Adha a public school holiday.
