The Senator from New Mexico: Pete V. Domenici

Pete Domenici, the Senator from New Mexico. Elected to Albuquerque City Commission in 1966, elected Commission Chairman (equivalent then to Mayor) the next year, the first Republican in 38 years in New Mexico to be elected to U.S. Senate in 1972 and with his re-election in 2002, he became the first New Mexican elected to serve six full six-year terms in the Senate.
