Sounder & Friends

WQLN PBS brings learning to life with Sounder & Friends!

Created by literacy experts, Sounder & Friends targets the critical, but often neglected skill of phonemic awareness. Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear and play with individual sounds (or phonemes) in spoken words. Educational researchers recognize that phonemic awareness is the key to reading proficiency. Children need to be able to blend, segment, and manipulate the sounds in words.

Sounder & Friends is a local public television program presented by WQLN.
