Steppin' Out With Steam

This documentary from the Blue Ridge PBS archives was taped on location in 1984. The star of the program is the Norfolk & Western 611 Class J Locomotive. Built in the Roanoke Shops, the 611 began service in 1950 & was retired in 1959. In the early 1980s she was restored & became part of a steam excursion program. This nostalgic look back, catches the action inside the cab & beside the tracks.
