It is the wheelchair finals from the Macon Coliseum, the Gwinnett Heat meeting, the Houston County Sharks, one at four and two, Harrison County undefeated at six and zero on the year.
Nice to have my good friend Dr. Ralph Swearingen sharing the platform with me.
Doc, it is so good to be working with you on this game.
My pleasure, Tommy.
This is going to be a great chance to be with you and also to see this great game.
Let's talk a little bit about how the GHC ASP alliance took place and how we got to the games on television.
Well, it in 2001, the American Association of Adapted Sport Programs and the Georgia High School Association went into an alliance to try to find ways to bring students with physical disabilities and visual impairments, the opportunity to participate in competitive athletics.
And a part of that process was to embed the the state championship game into the GHC basketball game.
And we feel like it's been a win win experience for everybody.
You've had an opportunity to watch both of these teams play already in the semifinals, and we've got a lot of athletic ability coming us in today's game.
And I'll tell you, it's very interesting when people who have never seen one of these games first take a look at the athletic ability and the speed and agility from these wheelchairs.
It really is.
And it's always fun for me.
I had seen a game between those Georgia legislators and some of these players or between principals and coaches, some of these players.
It's truly an athletic event.
And if any viewer doesn't believe that, what you can do is take a chair to your nearest basketball court, indoor outdoor, put it about 10 to 12 feet from the basket and start shooting.
And then after you've made a couple, imagine that the chair is rolling and the people are bumping into you and you see how difficult it really is.
One thing that we'll touch on later in the game is how this game began actually from injured World War Two veterans played on concrete outside to relieve some of their frustrations in their rehabilitation process.
And we'll talk about that and some of the subtle nuances about the game.
And there are some and I think you'll really enjoy watching the wheelchair championships from the Macon Center flags.

GHC State Basketball Championship Weekend Only on GPB.
Doc Swearengen It's time to tip it off here at the Making Center Flex two great teams here, Gwinnett Heat, Charleston County Sharks Council and County six in oh, and the Heat four and two on the year starting lineups for Gwinnett Heat, Sam Milliken, Derrick Rose, Ken King, Robbie Barry and Steven Hobson for Houston County.
Walter Johnson, Jordan Kozlowski, Brandon Robinson, Faith Barker and Kiara Miles.
Tip goes to Gwinnett Heat and we're in full court running clock except during out shot is up and no good and Houston County gonna to come out of there with it ahead to Braxton Robinson he's had a good career on the fast break fake and no shot but then a follow up shot and another is up and good first basket by Jordan Kozlowski So how's that getting under doctor Yeah so you see an example right there of what they do so well that interior pass into their cutter down the lane was just outstanding And I remember Braxton Robinson from last year and nice shot up and in and it's a four nothing lead now this is Walter Johnson's first year and he's just amazing Everybody's a senior but as his first year athletic director basketball he is very good at Gwinnett Heat across the timeline on the fast break heading the other way batted away and lost out of bounds there we have the standard three officials which will also officiate the game and we got a tumble taken down at the end.
Now let's explain this doctor swearing.
All right.
Yes.
In order to be eligible to play, you have to have one of the disabilities that federal law declares a disability, which means some of these students don't use a wheelchair normally.
So it may look unusual to see them get up out of the chair and walk to it, but they have a disability that by law would keep them from being able to participate in competitive athletics.
Right.
And there are different chair They've got to straps one on the ankle that keeps their called Achilles, that keeps their feet from going under the chair and then a one on the left bill that is that what was their first shot by going is up and no good rebound comes out to Gwinnett and then lost and Robinson's going to take it out of there and lose it and it's going to be constant down and going the other way.
The amazing thing about it is there are so many different types of wheelchairs.
Is there a reason for that?
The athletic chair, the sport chair has a lower center of gravity that lessens the likelihood of a forward or backward tip and then it has the angled wheels which lessens the likelihood of of a side to side tilt.
But as we see with all the contact that sometimes it happens.
Yes, it does.
And it turns over.
Shot is up and good on the fast break.
Wanted to go ahead what are the keys to that to the game that I saw was to try to stop the weak rebounding because they do such a good job.
And so far that's exactly what's happening, that the shots are controlling the ball well.
There's absolutely nothing to rebound when you score here.
We need to win.
And he on the break shot his up and a bit short and Johnson comes out of there with it and gets it ahead to Kozlowski on the break and out of bounds down at the far end of the court.
And let's let's take a look at the last basket for Houston.
Good interior passing and able to put it in.
And there's another thing.
They really do a good job.
We're going to get a timeout by the Gwinnett team and of course, this is the one of the few times during the game that the clock will stop.
Let's explain that.
We have six borders, Doctor.
That's right there.
Six quarters, six period, six periods.
So there can't be 6 minutes.
And it's a running clock except for timeouts of winning free throws.
One of the rules is that every player here must play one continuous quarter.
So in order for that to work out and keep strategies intact and get everybody to play, they go with six quarters, three in each hand when it is oh for three in field goals passed and county four out of five.
And that will that will get a game for you right there.
Houston County very experienced.
This is my third year doing this.
Doctors were injured and I remember many of these players from Houston County, they've been here.
Exactly.
This is an interesting game in the fact that both of these teams have won.
The last three championships were one of thousand 12 and the sharks in 30 and 14.
In fact, the Sharks haven't lost a game in years.
They're very good, relentless offensively and defensively, and they lost one of their better players a year ago.
They did.
They did.
And there's been great community support both in Gwinnett, in Houston counties where people who are not normally a part of the disability community have really rallied around these to it and step forward with with that hand of reach.
Here we go, one dead heat in four court.
If you just joined us, Gwinnett in the red Charleston County in the white with Orleans Trent shot by Gwinnett is up and no good rebounds got to come out of there and nice steal and a giveaway up and no good to hard up off the glass and a lead pass down the court on the fast break Kozlowski up and no good and will fire yet again no good rebound comes out to Houston County who's dominating the boards up to Johnson no good rebounds going to come out to win it.
Nice rebound by Stephen Hobson.
They're obviously gives it a head got traveling Yeah.
Explain why this is good.
There's no dribble dribble rule but you have to put the ball on the floor once every two rotations.
If you keep your hand on the wheel and you pivot to avoid a defender, that's not a rotation.
Take your hand off and put it back on.
It's a rotation and we have specialized officials who call these games.
Yes, it's really interesting in all of the sports, most other idiot U.S. officials who also call these and they really love it.
Wow.
Nice drive to the basket there by Braxton Robinson yet again.
And the heat going to bring the ball down the floor.
Gwinnett being pressured in fourth court Nice lead pass Let's see what happens down under the basket here to give back a tent to Hobson and it's going to be going and out of bounds Doc Watson Braxton driving in and they able to put the ball up over the outstretched hand of Stephen Hobson.
And that's a pretty tough angle.
No backboard to go with and you make a shot.
Robby Berry in has it taken away on the pass.
Here's Robinson again on the break.
Going to take the break himself layup good breakaway basket and Harleston County is really having their way in this one.
After years of evaluating officials, I've learned to watch the game by watching off the ball.
And I hope viewers will do that to watch some of the screening that's done and the maneuver of the wheelchairs away from the ball that set up the scoreboard.
Look at Times Square.
She is playing great defense down there.
Well, the heat gets their first basket up it in.
I shot their good shot.
The heat runs a basically a triangle offense and and Kendall Kim brings it off court and tries to get in give it a Robby Perry or Steven Hobson and they just not be able to get rid of it.
And Hobson reaches for the rebound and can't get it and there's a jump ball, which sounds very unusual in this.
Here's the Gwinnett Basket.
Hobson Turnaround up and good for Gwinnett.
Hobson With the basket down under from out of bounds in to Ashton County, shot is up no good.
The follow up is no good.
And a lot of trash pass Yeah a miss by Johnson and a rebound by Gwinnett Hobson going to bring it down the court now Stephen Hobson It's good size got good size doesn't catch he really does.
And when he rebounds and shoots, he keeps those arms extended, which is a key to to good technique.
Wheelchair basketball rebound off the missed shot ousted county has missed their last five shots which is very unusual for them.
And there's the one that broke the string there.
Yeah Braxton Roberts got to head in and it's interesting, a lot of teams of which are basketball they do spot passing or pass to the chair the coaches for the sharks to lead passing leader get it out there and let the wheelchairs take them to the ball.
Right.
Six points now for Robinson when it in four caught up off the glass.
Very good.
Hobson Trying to follow and loses it.
It's going to come out of there.
And here comes Harleston County Braxton Robinson across the time line, obviously playing for the last shot here, playing Keep away with Johnson, Braxton, Robinson and Johnson and going to drive and has it batted away by Gwinnett Excellent play from behind defensively there doctor swear it yes Robby is is an outstanding athlete he's on the field a high school wrestler to really yes we've played one here one period here at the Macon Center Flex Haston county leads Gwinnett 14 to 2 back for the second period after this timeout.

Tickets and information available at Atlanta.
Dream Dot net House County hit one of their last seven shots after a six out of ten start.
Gwinnett is one out of eight in the first period.
Charleston seven out of 17 41% for Houston County and 13% for Gwinnett ousted county on a steal as we start period two.
Is there any over in back.
Yes, it would be.
Yes, it could be.
Braxton Robinson demonstrating how to pick the ball up off the floor and then lost it on the dribble.
Thompson down under the pass is batted away and Robinson across the time line lead pass shot is up.
Oh my not as good Walter Johnson for the basket this fast break for Houston County is just absolutely amazing.
I've been there and had two coaches talks about how they the practices they work on trying to convert every rebound, every turnover fast break point.
Johnson now has six points as well Gwinnett the heat and four for the loop Hobson Up and no good off the lip of the rim if he warms up it's going to get interesting here, Steve.
Steven Hobson Watch this fast break.
Braxton Good maneuverability right there to get it get past it didn't seize Walter for a nicely passed up and in Hobson's personal foul the rules specify you got to play a man demand nicely pass you got to play man to man defense and the sharks are able to do a lot of sophisticated help side work with a switch on defense.
It makes it really tough.
That was a nice collision there, which actually would be comparable to a full court press.
Yes.
Hobson Up band?
No.
Good.
I'm going to go the other way.
The collisions are kind of the but you're supposed to be part of the body.
But evidently that was considered incidental contact.
Really?
That was incidental contact.
I'm just saying I know you're no longer evaluating officials like Walter Johnson, right ahead, the Braxton anthem.
Gordon Braxton having a great day.
That's his eighth point.
Yeah, The sharks were just beating the beating heat back home.
And so as a result, they're getting some easy baskets.
I look for the heat to pick up the intensity.
They had a lot of intensity last week against the Wolfpack in the semifinals, Charleston County with a60 run here when that and Hopson is going to lose it out of bounds and it's going to go out of bounds.
Let's see.
Jaisal Zavala lost it out of bounds.
That's the sixth Gwinnett Heat turnover.
Let's see, we got a foul here.
Oh, my second foul on Hobson here.
Got a bump from the back.
It's going to be Houston County Ball coach from Gwinnett standing up and beginning to pace a little bit.
He's trying to encourage his troops here.
It's a nice action down under the basket and back outside now, down under.
No shot there.
Then a shot over everyone.
And Robinson, Len Boudreau, the Gwinnett Heat coach Ulin was the assistant coach back in 2012 when Mike Mills was the head coach and they won the championship.
He does a great job with the kids.
He he really understands the processes of teaching, the skills of which are basketball.
We were talking with him before the game and ask him any nerves here, and he said definitely.
He said the arena had made the a big difference.
When they're playing in a bigger place like this, they're not used to it.
So he said, certainly there's going to be nerves.
And when you play in a big arena like this, it's it's quite imposing.
Yeah, there are 600 we have a tumble.
Braxton Robinson fouled by Brazil.
Yeah, yeah.
The both of these two used to play.
Look at this.
Whoa.
Nice tumble there with that.
Yes.
That was not incidental contact.
No, it was not incidental contact.
Today they're really crashing into each other out there.
Dr. Swearengen, Kristy Jones, the past encounters Sharks coach shot is up and no good going to come out of there.
Dr. Swearengen, while we have a minute here, you were going to tell me how this game actually began.
Wheelchair basketball?
Yeah, it actually began in Europe, but in the United States, 1946, on the West Coast, either Long Beach or San Diego to Veterans Hospital, they were trying to find something to rehab a paraplegic.
So amputees coming back from World War Two and also to give them a chance to work out some of their some of their frustrations of now going from active to an active lives.
And they played in the parking lot.
And they say that it was a basketball court on a parking lot with veterans and it was Washington.
But imagine it was on concrete and pretty tough.
No glass backboards back there also, which with all that heat has not played on glass back this year.
Wow.
Good looking foul shot that a little too hard.
Oh, that is extremely difficult.
And I think the analogy of shooting a shot from your living room chair and it's the same height.
Yes.
When it after two misses, we're going to pass now in four court.
No.
Oh, oh.
Derek throws passing.
Scott is up good.
Peter King is right here to be the playmaker and he's very, very quick.
Good hands on offense and defense and his shoulder with a good pass the lead pass.
Oh, I have to back saying did you see where things were back Court You ask about there's the backcourt violation but an excellent save yeah Christie Jones lost to the left misses Stephen Roberson and Christie is right next to him there.
Yes Chris you see coordinator Brenda Barnett interesting she's kind of got the program going.
She was recently inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club.
Hall of Fame, is a softball coach, wonderful young.
I'm going to trigger it in from the end of the line.
Yep.
From right under their basket.
Hopson going to try to get it and miss it and now going to get it and.
Hobson Going to pass it away.
It is amazing to me how far they could lean back in these chairs, going back dogs in a low center of gravity.
One of the rules, a wheelchair.
If you're rebounding the front forward, nobody can move into the lane until the ball's put in the hands of the throwers.
So they had to steal and had to wait out there until they put the ball in the hands of the throw.
And then you get down seven Gwinnett turnover Braxton Robinson in four court to ease rolling now he was rolling quite a good bit there There's no travel there are they papery with that It's not called time to be running that offense and running it down for the last shot in the second period here.
And it's going to go out of bounds.
And I believe, yeah, the period's going to end there.
Pasco County up 82 for one.
It has had seven turnovers.
We have played two periods here at the Macon Center flags.
It is the GHC ass, but we'll cheer championship.

Adventure Treks Lodging and Retreat Center now with two Guinness World Records information at historic Banning Mills, AECOM, GHC State Basketball Championship Weekend only on GPB, Walter Johnson and Braxton Robinson have had career days already.
Dr. Swearengen It's been it's been a good day for both of them.
However, Braxton Robinson has really been outstanding.
He has eight points, which is a season average as you can see.
He's got going to the open spot.
He gets the good passes and he averages eight points a game.
He's got eight already.
He's a 10th grade.
Students at Northside, Warner Robins High School and co-captain of the team.
And in addition to his scoring, he leads the team in assists.
That's pretty good.
They're not bad.
Not bad.
The sharks, I believe, have their have their cheerleaders here.
Gwinnett shooting 17%.
Hampton County shooting 36% after two periods Yeah the Gwinnett he turned up the heat Turned up the heat if I could use a pun on their defense in the second quarter.
And they forced four turnovers and it made a big difference obviously, in their offense as well as in there as they're being able to score.
Braxton ahead.
And no good back to Braxton, who is going to reset everything out of bounds Little Aaron pass there.
Yeah they worked it kind of a rotation where they catch everybody movement kind of to the left and he had two options and he got a good pass and it just shot just didn't come.
Gwinnett now heading into four court excellent control there by Gwinnett Kim York does a great job handling the basketball in the chair He really does good shot up a little short and the rebound got to come out to house to county Braxton driving and going to pass it off Oh excellent Partially blocked and when that's going to come out of there with it.
Good Fast break here.
Robby Berry going to get it ahead and shot's going to go up and good nice move inside didn't get the number on that one stipulating again brutal king usually he sets up Bobby inside the then first let's take a look at that one Bobby Berry inside pass he cuts to the middle.
That's a good shooter's touch.
Yes.
And by keeping his hand on the wheel, he was not considered a rotation.
It was considered a pivot.
So he got a little distance between UAB out of bounds to Gwinnett looking to trigger it in, gets it to Kendrick, who's backing up and looking.
It's still amazing how far they go back in the is scary sometimes having off ball foul and we also have a player out of the wheelchair Georgia Derrick Clair us because last first foul you're always kind of concerned when when we let's take a look at this he got sandwiched between the two and went to the side Wow quite a tumble there and they strapping back in and we remount and reload.
Exactly.
And I think that one of the things that the coaches in wheelchair basketball and all the sports, not just in basketball, really have to work with many of their students who have never had the opportunity to participate in competitive athletics.
And they have to learn not only the game, but also the competitive instincts and the intensity and the kinds of things that a lot of people just assume everybody has.
And it's a remarkable what the coaches and all these teams are able to do.
They have to do a lot of teaching about bad things.
They really do.
They have to know their students, their limitations.
They need to know their disability, whether they're bi lateral, unilateral, you know, all these kinds of things are so important.
And what they're doing is so important to these young people.
So they do a lot of above and beyond the call of duty with Excellent, excellent.
And we're back and ready to go yet again.
I don't think we've got a shooting foul yet, have we set whether the first two just a couple of minutes ago by Walker.
Yeah he missed both of them.
Yes.
Okay let's go.
That's making a little run here.
Houston County up 18 to 7.
If you've just joined us.
This is the GHC wheelchair Championship contest five oh run by Gwinnett.
And they're down there yet again.
Nice shot up.
No good.
A little too hard.
The rebound comes back out and is going to go back to go.
It needed to be got in Louisville got a nice pass outside Robby Berry with his fourth point of the day it's 18 to 9 now so Gwinnett making a little run here doc They're coming back across the time line.
Give it go.
Oh what a nice pass Braxton Robinson across that's how you want this fast break and these blue jerseys very good fast and cap Gwinnett the miss the follow the feed to Derrick Derrick into Robby Nice Mike King will go to the line okay out of bounds What did they call here they made that lane violation somebody moved in too soon for the defense Oh okay now Austin County putting it in and the shot is up.
Oh, wow.
Jordan passing defense because last game with the basket.
Is that right or was that felt good with the bats That was bigger bigger, better than I think she was.
She was.
Yeah.
It was a shot batted around Houston County's going to come out of there with it again the lead pass shot is going to be up fine too hard rebound going to be fought for.
Follow up is no good.
We're going to get another one out of bounds and when aren't going to get to go the other way with it.
And you just had a situation.
Yeah.
Yes.
Look that sometimes that's great.
And it was an interesting on that thing.
Is it Braxton giving the ball bearings that a lot of points and when he unselfishly gave the ball up to the team they didn't take the shot it said in the back court Kendra King ahead to Derek Harris when we are 226 remaining in the third period, there are six periods and we're coming up on half time here where adjustments will be made.
Gaston County with the lead pass yet again, they make long late look at their great shot from down under Orlando Hicks with the bucket and he is one of the quickest quickest players with the chair as he was leading that initially he was he was just really busted down for the Orlando Hicks.
He didn't have a great vantage point from where he was shooting.
It was a great shot from right under.
Let's take a look at this.
And he set it up by his speed down and then he put it up.
And Stephen Hobson is saying, how do you do that?
Stephen Hobson's been a force down under.
Dr. Swearengen He really has.
He's 11th grade student from Peachtree Ridge High School, his fifth year playing on the Heat and he also plays on their football and handball team.
So he's a skilled athlete and a big guy, and he plays with good technique, really.
Does Gwinnett ten turnovers, Haston County six.
And in this third period, Gwynedd is two out of three in field goals.
Houston is two out of six.
Gwynedd in four caught traveling the heat.
They've really picked up their tempo as you said they would in the second quarter here or in this third period here.
Yes, yes.
And I think you mentioned something about what Coach Hugo indicated, the fact that they're there might be a little bit of intimidation, new situation, a big court, some perceptual problems with not having a wall right behind the basket.
And 3000 to go right.
And Hobson's going to pick up his third foul.
It gets congested in the lane and Stephen didn't have any place to go, so he ran over him and picked up his third foul and has county now with the ball in fourth court.
Nice screens Braxton going to give it up again and again.
Would you look at that Orlando Higgs he's had two nice baskets here.
He moves well without the ball and Braxton finds him 14 point Houston County lead here in the third period.
We come to the end of the first half of play, Houston County with a60 run here roll stop looking, firing no good as the end of the first half comes doctor squared right now on about 100 feet high, traveling at about 50 miles an hour, just thinking about where I should go next.

High school scores, a winning part of a complete education.
And we're back with a look at the first half highlights.
Dr. Swearingen, what's your thoughts on the first half?
Well, I really think that the big court plays right into her house to charge what I do.
It allows them to spread out, run the floor.
They're able to use their cheer, speed and maneuverability with the ability of the long pass.
And so they fit right in.
I think the heat are adjusting to that and they're going to come back.
Whether they can come back enough remains to be seen.
But but they're working hard and I think they'll do fine.
Let's take a look at those first half highlights.
And they were some nice ones.
Let's Take a look at Robinson here.
He had a good first half that yeah, we're seeing great examples of his shooting ability.
And we also may see some of his passing ability, too, because he set up a lot of teammates as we got toward the end of the first half.
Sure did.
Lot.
Walter Johnson had a really nice pass, got some great assist as well.
And yes, Walter's very adept good hands offensively.
Defensively, he's a senior.
He's going to graduate from Gwinnett.
Robby Berry had a good half Robby is it was a real scrappy yeah he's in his first year of play wheelchair basketball and he's doing well.
I think it's been a great first half.
Both teams have asserted themselves very well.
Houston County got off to a good start, but then Gwinnett answer did not look forward to the second half.
We'll be back with the second half after this timeout.

There's a GPB Dawgs Stop the drop For more information than listening all weekend to all of our basketball games, you'll notice that we're using making music.
That's Little Richard from Macon, Georgia.
What a huge tournament.
That's.
Yeah.
If we're going to do a tribute to make it, let's do it.
We do.
GPB for all their great doo wop shows, because that's my time.
Just Year of You.
That's it.
I love this.
It's got to be something in the water in Macon.
Let's really drink up while we're here.
If you make the kind of music we get to listen to while we're in Macon, Georgia, everybody that you hear on the bumpers, as we call them in our business, they're from Macon, Georgia.
The Allman Brothers, Little Richard, and many, many more.
Gosh, great musicians, great talent in the midstate.
Yes.
And we've got great talent here today in this.
Braxton Robinson has had a first half, eight points.
And that's great.
Gwinnett, he is going to get it here as we start the second half.
They're three periods remaining in this 124 to 8.
Gaston County leads Gwinnett Gwinnett, another personal foul, six for Gwinnett, three for Hamilton County field goals.
Gwinnett four out of 17 for 24%.
Charleston, 12 out of 29 for 41%.
And the turnovers, Gwinnett 11.
Gaston County seven.
Gwinnett Heat in four court WHISTLE No lane violation.
Well rainbow Rainbow grip on who was that I really don't I'm not sure Gwinnett going to trigger it in a lane violation drop Clara has triggered it in and has to be counted I'm going to come out of there with Oh nice steal by Gwinnett.
Ken McKay made a nice drawing.
I said of that Rob shot a she.
And you've noticed that Hobson was playing back a little bit out of traffic and out of way.
He's in foul trouble with three already, so I'm sure that's why he was holding back a little bit.
Yeah, the heat cannot afford to lose him over.
Very good player down inside, we've got to tip their lead Pass Orlando once more.
Well, he's been all around the basket, but he likes that scoring don't we all you, you go over and hit a nice pass from the outside that's why you play the game.
You want to score the baskets.
Gwinnett headed the other way.
General King got an opening.
Let's see what he's going to do here.
Shoots it up to no good The follow no good control with a follow good.
That's a nice, nice position on the rebounds.
And that looks more like what they did in the semifinal game where they controlled the offensive rebounds.
And we're getting two and three shots after a late best shot when they 4 to 10 now, did we have a travel note, had a held bull, had an elbow held held by hell.
BALL okay, good possession to Houston County three.
Wow.
Did you hear that collision Gaston County in full court lead Pat Lando hit Orlando Hicks again missed it Just missed a little too hard there.
Orlando set that up with a lot of speed going down ahead of the play safety.
He did a good job of cutting it w off in four court.
Derrick Narrows gets it up looking no good and out of bounds here.
The intensity has picked up and there's a good shot up off the basket.
Gwinnett has really picked up the heat here.
Turned it up a little bit, Got yes, excellent shots, but just a little short in Orlando runs into problems as we have a collision in back court on.
And it gets intense out here.
What you were talking about, coach, he really does.
It's just a lot of intense.
They practice hard.
They play hard.
It's a great life skill that that he is he is not very take care of the bulk of that court.
But he gets open he works hard to get open and it sets up a lot of good things for the show.
He has a good shooting touch as well.
He really does.
And as we talked about earlier, he has the ability to get it off in the midst of a lot of people in the league.
And the Gwinnett Heat turning up the heat yet again.
I shot up and in by Robby Barry.
That's his sixth point of the day.
Oh, and the defense is full court pressure now.
Another collision here.
Let's take a look at the very basket bouncing and in good position.
Yes, set himself up Good, good technique.
He averages six a game and that's what he's got right now.
And Gwinnett with yet another steal Berry on the break firing no good and fight for the rebound literally jump ball it's it's getting intense in that lane down there it's not for the faint of heart down there doctor swearing that's right and I think it's important to understand these are athletes who really enjoy the opportunity to participate.
They don't take it for granted.
Oh, that's that's a great thought and a great statement.
Dr. Strangelove, You've got to be tough to to play this game because the practice facilities are not as good as these facilities in that they get a lot of boomerangs off the back boards.
Look at that.
And what a great shot.
What a great effort.
That did not work.
Orlando's got it again.
He likes that basketball is getting to fit his hand Doctor swearing and it's it's it's like he's got a magnet.
It's got to get into your balls.
Finally.
You know, when you hit a streak, when you're a shooter, you need to stay with it, don't you?
Exactly right.
The real shooters, they always want another Orlando triggers add in and immediately looks for the ball.
Walter Johnson now on the break passes back behind him up hard off the grass rebound Got to come out of there too Kendra King chasing ahead to Barry and lost it and Houston County going to go the other way now WHISTLE foul is on Derrick Rose.
This second teaching shooting is really difficult because they have to have enough cheer able to get the ball up.
But too much cheer momentum is what contributes to these hard shots coming up there.
And whenever an able body is going in there forward their upper extension cuts down their momentum.
You don't have that with a chair right?
Shot is up and go.
And as you notice, Walton slowed it down when he got ready to take his shot so he could set it up right.
Momentum does make a big difference.
And you got to gauge that in these wheelchairs.
Walter Johnson with a basket.
He has eight king with a nice fake move and ahead, the pass to Berry, but he can't come up with it.
Well, the pressure in that backcourt, Orlando, looking for the ball but can't get it before it goes out of bounds.
Okay.
Let's take a look at this.
Baker faced Baker with the price bounce pass, pull up.
Yeah, that's the way you play.
And he's over up under the basket.
No good rimmed out of there.
Baker loses it, and then it's going to come up with it.
It's amazing how they can pick that ball up off of the floor.
And that's an important technique.
If you come in behind the ball, you're probably tip forward.
You come up beside the ball and you roll it up the wheel and that's how you grab it.
You got to have good hand-eye coordination to do that as well, that's why.
Hobson With the ball now, the shot.
All right, Derek, Derek, Clarence with the bucket.
That's his sixth for the heat.
Oh, all set up with a nice pass which to you hops and the fourth period ends there and the heat is really making progress getting some good looks.
We have played for past and county 28 that fourth team will be back for the fifth period after this timeout including Fox puts Butler for Milton Martin Honda in Gainesville.
We want to wish all the teams in the state playoff the very best of luck.
And if you think Mr. Martin Honda is a proud sponsor of Georgia high school athletics, you got that right.

Here you go.
One hamburger, medium well, this is well done.
No, no, no.
That's media.
Mm.
Well, what are you calling me, a liar?
This thing is practically brown.
That's it.
You're not going to come to my house and tell me how to cook a goddamn?
You wouldn't do it.
They're crazy, so don't do it here, sportsmanship.
It's up to you.
We're in the second half.
We're in the fifth period of the game.
There are six, and we're in the second half of play here As we start the fifth period of play shot past and county in fourth court now.
And a lot of traffic, a lane violation.
They're going to hit seven out of 32 for 22%.
Houston County 14 out of 30 for 41%.
The turnovers are evening up.
Gwinnett, 13 in Houston at 11.
Dr. Swearengen.
Yeah.
How's the count County started six for ten and since then they've been eight for 24.
I think that's primarily because when it start get back on defense the reason they were six for ten the sharks start the game is that they were getting easy baskets on transition but that's tightened up Kendell King in difficulty and an errant pass goes out of bounds.
Pressure applied by Houston County At midcourt there.
Houston County's already had six players score, like in the semifinal last week.
They had seven players score.
And that's a little unusual to have that many schools in a wheelchair basketball team on the fast break.
Braxton Robinson gets it back, shot is up and no good.
Treveon Walker missed the shot.
Ten second, ten second violation in the defensive scheme of things for the sharks that's they try to pressure of all the back court move the dribbler to the side and hope they get it in second guess that then they do.
I've noticed on several occasions and this is not to show favoritism but if you want to see the intensity of this game, take a look at the face of faith.
Baker She personifies just how intense this game is.
She did pop that smile there after the basket, but she's intense.
Look at look at those eyes.
Yes.
Oh, you got fast break basket Austin.
Good.
Nice shot by Robby Berry.
Robbie's having a great game today.
Once Derrick penetrates and finds the open person.
Nice movement, nice ball movement down there and we've got a foul as well.
Free throw, no good lane violation.
Somebody jumped in there too soon.
I think he probably caught it because it did.
The shot didn't draw in.
The free throw line is a little bit out of the comfort zone.
A lot of a lot of future shooters.
And I think they allowed him a little liberty as far as the free throw line itself when they roll forward.
I don't think the front wheels are allowed to be over the line.
The back wheels cannot be over the line.
Does the same thing works for the three point shot?
Sure.
Do we have many three point shots?
Oh, not many controlling for court.
I had to Robbie traveling General King they have really pressured in 16 turnovers now for Gwinnett Gaston County brought their cheerleaders with him today they're doing a good job down there as well in four court.
Braxton Robinson driving really headed off at the pass.
And this shot is up to no good.
Wow.
It's amazing how far they lean back.
Second shot up to no good.
Hobson comes out of there with it and here comes one out on the break.
Berry ahead there trying to get the ball to him and a good block over there.
Nice nice screen What you say, doc?
Yes shot is up and no good and bounces out of there and Houston County's going to come out of their pass There's a lead pass to Jordan Kozlowski on the break Jordan no good oops ball on top of the head and a foul shot Jordan with that look on her face like oh big run berry with a foul That's his first.
She's an interesting athlete.
She participates in the triathlon for challenged athletes and she also works as a mentor for new amputees at children's health care of Atlanta.
Wonderful.
I remember her from last year.
She's been around for a little bit here, a little bump here being no good boots off the top of the head.
Rebound goes out of bounds.
I'm really impressed with the way this Gwinnett team has fought back here to a 12 point deficit.
It could have gotten out of hand.
They had a lot of pride.
They really do.
They felt like they turned the corner last week.
They started into the season, had won four straight oh 8 to 4 Gwinnett run and they've got the ball here tonight gets you shot is up and good Oh nice job by Derrick Rose is good that's making a run here this whistle foul on Derrick Rose that's his third.
Let's take a look at Derrick's basket.
The good part of what happened down on that end of the floor shot is up and good little two hand shot.
Braxton Robinson got a double screen that time to free him up from Robbie's defense.
Yeah he he's double team now somebody is open if he's double team shot is up and no good off the wall and the backboard whistle and Barry travel they do call that close do not they do they do especially in the transition where they're really in a hurry to get down there and sometimes they don't put enough rotation there.
Thanks Baker give it go double because Lasky no good and a rebound back after Braxton batted away by Gwinnett Gwinnett in back court now and forecourt Kimbrel King work stolen away by Kozlowski fast break and she's going to take this one by herself up and woops no good rebounds kind of come out of the two Gwinnett Oh I like what Berry's doing with the ball he's not going to get called for traveling this time but he's going to take that shot and he's got a nice, nice basket that time.
Robby Berry, his 10th born of the day, he wasn't going to take the chance on that one.
Now it's an eight point lead, a good run by Haston here.
Braxton Robinson, going to throw it up there.
No good And it's going to be Gwinnett coming out of there with it over the head of Berry.
And I think the ball is going to go out of bounds and it will look at the number carved in the hair there.
That's intensity and berry.
Here's a look at the break Good shot up and in now has to go back down on the other end.
There's Kozlowski firing it up under the basket whistle and a foul And I think she's got to get to go to the line again.
Second foul on Berry.
Kozlowski will go to the line.
Jordan was voted the best offensive player on their championship team last year.
So she has a lot of experience and they were very good a year ago.
And she's only an eighth grader.
Really?
That is right.
This is the first and will get yet another good shot bounces off the rebound comes out to Kimbrel King on the move and really gets hammered at midcourt going to get it across the time line Oh Derrick Clara's digging he fires no good follow up Good one good basket by Derek Clarence Who's heating up?
Dr. Swearingen Yes, it was set up.
He was interesting in the back court.
It was set up with a stick, a screen grab that that ball led to two passes that eventually got to go ten to nothing.
Gwinnett run here and they're going to call time out on the court.
Let's take a look at the last basket here.
Shot is up and good Clara has been in the right place at the right time.
He's just positioned himself very well.
And he also has that very nice haircut with the number in the.
Exactly.
Skyler, just a little bit.
His dad's proud to his dad.
Yeah.
Got that jersey number.
Look at that swag.
He's got that swag going.
His dad's happy.
Yeah.
2001.
I mean, it was an all star team for last but honestly of talked about how little participation gilstrap was so important to many of their lives.
And it was all the things that we had to do at the high school association have said were important for high school athletics and that this became apparent These folks needed to be involved with programs like today, definitely wanted.
It was all ten.
I run the House last scored with 126 left in the fourth period.
They doing it as four out of five and fewer goals this period.
Right.
Nice shot is up by Barry.
Good Can't get a good job of setting that got a good angle for the entry pass.
Sure did.
We've got us a game folks.
Long shot.
No good one had had a really good period that time in the fifth period here we we're in the second half of play.
I tell you what, we've got us a barn burner here.
It's 28 Houston County in 24 back to the making Center flex after this timeout energy.

Regions Gwinnett He turned it up.
When we say turn the heat up 2824 and Berry is six out of his 12 in that period.
Yeah the intensity of the heat is the reason why that house and sharks have one other last left field goal at the 2824 Houston County after the over and back violation by the heat Gaston County now in full court and in trouble when the double team went out he was really going to work defensively sound is up and no good blocked yet another up and no good and block and we got a jump ball right Wow Let's take a look at what Berry did down there Nice looking shot by Berry using the glass and yet another with no effort with the glass He's got that good touch going on three does he stabilizes his chair and he's able to shoot in the midst of being both he's been a factor and he's got the ball now Berry on the break and going to be cut off at the pass there Berry looking and gets it to came game right yeah oh here's Robinson with the basket and good goes now back to the other end of the floor still a six point deficit here the court ousted went ten and a half minutes without scoring inbounds Harris batted away on a breakaway now Braxton Robinson past Hobson up no good Hobson can't hold the rebound and it's going to go to Walter Johnson and back up and good play basketball also Johnson from the baseline with a nice shot ten points for Johnson here take a look at it.
Oh got the carom fired it back up in that was up one of those on the move.
That's right.
And the shot was set up because he hustled after the loose ball.
He just seems to have a knack.
Find the ball.
Let's talk a minute about verbally violent Tommy storms blasting the sounds of ask just have done a great job started 1996 and are coming up on the 20th anniversary and over 1700 contests every year.
The 5500 students employed in adopted sports an errant pass after the three free throws and a long breakaway basket.
Now by house up bang.
Good.
Now, first look now to the transition game to get out of that halfcourt set it.
It's beginning to pay off for the 39 points for Johnson.
We've got a game of momentums here.
All of a sudden, the momentum goes back to Houston County and when it's missed a couple of key baskets down there and had a turnover seven zero run now by House and County, the Sharks and Clara's going to get it ahead.
WHISTLE and the foul foul is going to be called on faith Beaker Let's take a look at the breakaway basket here.
Long breakaway basket up and good.
It all starts with his vision to see that there's someone breaking open and then have the execution to be able to throw that from the sitting position.
Berry triggers it in Clara's back to Berry on the give and go up and no good to heart.
Wow He almost tumbled out of there.
Saved on the sideline by Houston County.
Yet another breakaway basket down to Braxton Robinson up to be good 12 points for Robinson Houston County has put the hammer down as we say they really have gotten back to the kinds of things they wanted to do.
But the heat are still working hard.
Berry taps it away.
Stolen Away by Walter Johnson, Lead Pass headed to Orlando.
He digs out of bounds.
We're in the final period here, heading down the homestretch.
Watch the action up near the top of the key you see off ball movement and trying to get set to run the inbounds substitutions, end the game.
Hobson Trying to get away from Kozlowski to no avail.
This full court pressure is tough to pass to.
Berry batted away.
Kozlowski going to come up with it then ahead now to Braxton Robinson with an easy one and missed it down under rebound comes out to Gwinnett and ahead to Hobson Hobson looking and now going to fire no good a little short but Berry's there for the follow No good yet another follow no good but a foul all they work the boards on that one no shot coming here Berry will trigger it in Berry shot shot is up no good two hard shot General King with the Miss Basket lead to head to Higgs up.
Good.
He didn't even break right before he got it right after the shot.
That's a amazing It is an hast and downing take a look at this fourth foul on King or rather the fourth.
He has a tough ball to catch come in over his head able to do it concentrate on the shot free throw no good and Higgs is coming out of there with it.
Bounce pass, lead pass.
Wow what nice ball movement down under and Berry he's going to come out of there with it.
Yes.
They're working at it down there.
I tell you what, I was an old basketball coach.
I kind of wish a lot more of the able bodied teams use the bounce pass as a short changed.
They do it well.
They really do.
Robinson second foul when they're going to trigger it in Barea will put it in play back to King stolen away by Kozlowski and out of bounds now Kozlowski is an impressive player He really is on both ends of the court just really seems to know where to be and he plays great defense just in the right place at the right time, so to speak.
Right there.
Shot goes up by Braxton Robinson, No good.
And we've got a tumble down shot.
General Pace that is fifth.
Yeah.
King, I think has fouled out of the game Got that he tumbled out of there he has fouled out of the game with 152 left.
He's had a great game.
He really is interesting though.
He's the quarterback on the heat future your football team which is a great game I love to watch the wheelchair football it's great that's going to be interesting played on the basketball court really Braxton Robinson at the line got that shooter's touch.
I think he's kind of complaining that he can't bounce and then shoot the free throw.
I think what he was talking about, free throws, no good here in the sixth period, Gwinnett is over six and Houston is five for nine free throws.
Good.
Second one is good.
13 points now for Braxton Robinson.
Oh 12 oh Hairston County run, Kozlowski shot is up and no good batted away Kozlowski going to follow a no good rebound going to come out of there to win in I tell you what you you best not get down in there around that basket.
It's not for the week ahead.
As for shootaround, Berry really working hard.
He's not paying attention to the score.
He just knows the game, still playing and he's got to give it his own.
You go 12 points for Berry.
He's had a good day substitution into the ballgame.
Braxton Robinson with a shot no good and follow no good tip.
Yes yet again Good Braxton Robinson doing great body control between that side of the chair to make one he gets a rebound and it in and he was right in the midst of Gwinnett at that time as a matter of fact yeah Harleston county on a 1401 really turn this one around Gwinnett led the rebound on the missed shot Berry looking to get it out and can't going to get it Johnson back to Robinson no good foul girl on quite a pass 17 points for Braxton Robinson today Walter Johnson's over the hit passed me pretty amazing definitely and in back court Braxton Robinson going to come up with it yet again Kozlowski for the bar rather Baker with a nice screen there to free him out 16 to oh run 16 to nothing Run by Halsted in the last period as well the second personal foul and we were on Wellington 2824 going into the final period we were and glad is not scored which is very unusual because they were really wearing it out in that first period.
Sometimes when you're trying to make up a deficit, it's like climbing a mountain and it's just it takes a lot out of you.
One step at a time is the only way you're supposed to do it.
Walter Johnson, Free throw up.
No good off the back.
Went out and had a 12 to nothing run before the 16 did nothing wrong.
So both teams have had good runs today.
Shot is up and no good rebound and no good.
And that is the game.
And I think both of these teams just I thought played incredibly.
I know that you were disappointed Boy they sure did.
4424 is your final 4424.
Let's go to break.
It's been a great one.
4424 We'll have the trophy presentation coming up next here on GPB TV.
Yes, Joe gets up at 7 a.m., washes its face, gets dressed, grabs breakfast to go.
He then patiently waits for the bus, chats up his classmates, goes to school, doesn't go in.
Great act, Joe, but you're only fooling yourself.
We're back.
And they're presenting the trophies.
The runner up trophy being presented to the Gwinnett Heat.
Dr. Swearengen?
Yeah, This is a it's always a difficult thing to give the trophy for the runners up.
But these these young people seem to be proud and pleased with what the what they've accomplished in the match praise should be commended.
The new coaching staff presentations from Tommy Storms and the other lady is Yvonne Raven, co-founders.
That's the runner up trophy and this is the house and the championship trophy goes to the Houston County Sharks and the Gary Phillips will present that looking great in his new gray GHC blazer.
You like that, do you?
Nice ceremony.
Very nice trophy as well.
Dr. Swearengen, your thoughts on today's game?
Well, it was a it was really a great ball game.
A lot of great, great play.
And let's face it, right now, the sharks are just really playing very well.
And I'm sure that the other teams will work to catch with him that somebody beats him.
They're still the team's Georgia high school state basketball wheelchair champions, the Houston County Sharks third, third year.
Dr. Swearengen, been a pleasure to work with you.
It's been a ball.
Thank you so much for your very knowledgeable approach to this ball game.
Had a great time.
We'll be back after this timeout.
When it's down here in the half.
But I was born, ma'am.
And man.
