It's the 2022 all state music festival.
Tonight will see performances by Iowa's finest high school musicians and vocalists who were selected to be part of the 2022 All-State Band Chorus and Orchestra.

America, America My God he done shed his grace on thee He crowned thy good i with brotherhood from sea to shining sea America America America [applause] Its everything.
Yeah.
It's got to be all business because you're trying to.
I was trying to tell somebody with a group decides it's like driving an aircraft carrier, you know, so you have to be thinking about the information that you're giving from the podium.
But it's really hard not to be smiling because these kids are working so hard and they're giving back and they do something great like, okay, let's go on to the next level.
And these kids really rose to the occasion.
And it's it's been just a fantastic two days.
Band ♪♪ [applause] Band ♪♪ [applause] And I'll tell you why this event is cool for me is because I have these four children that have had between them 13 years of Iowa, all state experience between them.
And I have seen how that has been change for in their lives.
And in fact, my two string player kids are both professional orchestral players and got started in the Iowa State Orchestra.

[applause] [latin text] ♪♪ Glroira Deo Glora Deo Amen [applause] Boy, that is hard to say because we're playing four piece that are all very different and each have their own.
They have their own beauty, they have their own challenges.
I think the program opener, which is Shostakovich Festive Overture, is is a piece that brings extra challenge because it's very fast and there's a lot of really complex rhythm and especially to play in a room like this arena, very difficult for the students to hang together when there are people in the orchestra a little.
over 80 feet apart from each other trying to play together.
It is not easy.
♪♪ [orchestral music] [applause] ♪♪ [orchestral music] [applause] ♪♪ [orchestral music] [applause] ♪♪ [orchestral music] [applause] [orchestral music] Mine eyes have seen the glory Of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage Where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning Of His terrible swift sword; His truth is marching on.
