Raise your hand.
How many of you this is your very first time in Rupp Arena.
Raise your hand.
Just a few weeks ago in the same location.
This is where the girls and boys Sweet 16 basketball championship competition was felt.
>> What you're doing here today is just as important as that need to be recognized and celebrated the site.
>> The Stop State Championship is always my most favorite work day of the year.
This is my 30th year with the Kentucky Department Kazan and Office of Education, Technology.
Our role in this office says they think they see that plugs into electricity.
Anything that involves the Internet that anything the ball to avoid the video going back and forth or anything involved digital which includes digital creation will contact.
It's a learning and stop.
Since the birth of the Kentucky Education technology system in 1992, Kentucky has been the pioneer and national leader in most aspects of educational technology.
For example, Kentucky with the very first date they have Internet access to every district in 1995.
Then we connected every school and every class right?
Pretty awesome law.
And also, by the way, Kentucky has the largest and best student techno music program in the nation.
I don't get.
So if you're one of Kentucky's best stop, that means you're one of the nation's very best as well.
This is the 28th Year of stop which began in my early days in 1994.
It is our best showcase for the value of education technology in teaching and learning it is project based learning and its very best when the reasons we haven't given my background competition as we want to make sure that when you compete against others, your county, the county next to the region and across the state that you understand your thoughts, your ideas and your abilities are just as good as the other part of the state is one of the main reasons we have this put this in place.
I noticed your projects that I've noticed in for years.
A lot of health has to do with helping your fellow students, your teachers, your school, and your community.
Well, stop has been around since 1994.
This is the 15th year.
They would actually has the championship and hosted in Rupp Arena.
Yes, the program has 60,000 students across Kentucky.
Pretty amazing.
60,000 students.
1000 of you came here today.
2000, probably 3,000 bill today.
Well, over 10 to 11,000 people, we're part of our competition to that.
Now due to the pandemic, this is the very first time they've been able to stop in-person competitions since our night stop regional competitions and university campuses in December of 2019.
Always great to see it yet.
It's great to be back in person with you again.
Let's talk about your journey.
His journey began well, that 2000 individual team entries and regional competitions.
And tonight we'll get down to 61 of our best projects in Kentucky and they will identify our traffic 20.
Those of those 61.
And then I was 20 well, then if I and then we will identify all our Final 4 in which will be our state middle school high school.
Our best overall technology project.
Is that going to be all?
The Kentucky Department patient takes are state champions.
We find them to go to the International Society for Technology.
That Asian conference in New Orleans.
So all 3 state champions will that elementary middle school and high school art and a state champion will find a pretty neat place.
This in you all as well.
And it's showing up on the big screen.
Congratulations for all you make it far to this stop state championship that in this gym for a long time, it was in the band started actually in the 1970's the parking lot today was brand new.
I've heard a lot of years and years, but I've never heard this one.
You'll be the very first one to do this.
I want our crowd is watching to hear this.
I wanted to stop chant.
>> One more day.

You know, you have to remember like people that mean great opportunities happen for you.
And there's a lot of people that make it up.
He's happened to you.

This is the one person and he's pretty amazing decibels.
We have a staff of one of the jet.
Yeah, we'll tell you.
He's got a little help right?
We have about 2 to 3,000 adults that volunteer to help make this happen.

So guess what, every single one of your students who comes and participates as part of an stop project, those rubric that we used for storing them.
If you look real close to those categories, you're going to recognize these words on these banners.
Our entire system is based on these academic standards for the students.
So when your kids are participating in stop project.
They are demonstrating competency in the standards.
Right?
So as a teacher as an educator, that's pretty exciting.
You have a resource waiting for you to utilize to make sure that your kids know how to use the technology standards and how to be competent.
And guess what, there's even a little thing.
Call into a graduation requirement.
Requires a demonstration of technology.
Competency.
I say our kindergarten through 12th grade kids who didn't stop projects today.
Probably emerge demonstrate some technology competencies right?
So stop.
Please think about it.
The competitions are fine.
It is really and truly I've said it a million times.
It's just smoke and mirrors for kids learning and demonstrating what they know.
Please take advantage of the resources that stop has you whether you come to a stop competition?
