GHC state Championships on GPB.
and we are live at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Football title Game Action.
we had two defending champs win again in Prince Avenue, Christian and Bowden.
for each school's first state title.
Let's take a look at what's coming up.
We will get things started off between Greenbrier and Lithia Springs.
It's the Wolfpack.
to repeat as champions.
Then at 1:00, it's the boys turn in.
for the team's first ever meeting at 4:00, playing in the last game of the year after their team's first state title.
it's the six day showdown County Central and Woodward.
number two.
two on the set.
Nelson has another special story about girls flag football.
Hey, John.
Morning, Hannah.
Morning to everyone.
this large device or small.
Let's go through these two teams.
coach of the pack.
Fourth year is a program wanted to try to figure out because you have a bunch of different coming from a bunch of different sports.
Marshall up in Lincolnton.
They go from Columbia County and they get that team bonding together.
That's how they bonded off the field.
Learning on the field.
When Daniel Jordan needs some advice, with the Cochran's down at Southeast.
of phone call that you want to make.
On the flip side, Lithia Springs, catching up with Coach Pleasant.
defense and defense.
He reminded me they had eight stops from two yards away from scoring in a one score game to the last game of the year.
level.
and the guys, we're Wiley Ballard and Dave Reynolds.
Gentlemen, it's all yours.
Thanks, Nellie.
Always a joy for us.
and we've got a state final.
looking for their first and flag against the Lithia Springs Lions.
The defending state champions.
And we welcome inside our flag football guru.
I'm Wylie Ballard.
third year flag football.
all three seasons.
the last two years, they've knocked out the Greenbrier Wolfpack.
there's some revenge.
ring on the line today.
Yeah.
last year, loss again to Lithia Springs.
Very nice job.
Now, Lithia Springs, and time again, and they're led by Hannah especially at that safety spot.
three year starter.
in receiving yards from the safety position.
If the Lions continue to roll today, to be all over the field today.
for Greenbrier, but one that jumps out who like McIver, plays on both sides.
most talented player for the Wolfpack.
She knows how to go get the football.
the quarterback again.
number two will be a big part of that.
Now.
Flag of a sanctioned sport.
Dave, what are the key football and flag football?
long and 40 yards wide.
First downs will be achieved which are fixed lines 20 yards apart.
ten minute quarters with a running clock half under 2 minutes, the clock will stop passes, scores and so forth.
gets a forward pass.
a center be involved in the passing game.
Last one Non-Contact contact sport.
initiate contact with your opponent.
Just about football state final and the Lithia Springs Lions.
Darling.
this morning here inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the first of four football to be played on this field today.
Jordan before the game, Dave.
respect for that Lithia Springs defense.
and they've opted to defer.
Springs will start out with the football.
Yeah.
Let your defense get out there.
see if we can get a quick, quick.
Get off the field quickly.
Excuse me.
And again, big days.
Big moment.
rocking it out for us.
So let's get this thing started.
Kendra Pleasants in her third season.
since she started the program looking for another state championship.
first in six from the 14 yard line and the first give is to Nevaeh.
bumped out of bounds, and that'll be a modest gain for Cedric.
but number share of touches incredible athlete credible leader during warm ups completely loose relaxed also have a big day over a thousand yards never shed sharing for Lithia Springs they behind the line.
Let's take a look at these starters.
the ground are dead.
offensive starters.
those are a lot of familiar names.
Cedric Ross, MacGyver, Graham.
one in this program.
McDowell and Brielle Holland with the departures in Isaiah Phillips INDYA Moore So third down, throw the ball down.
Good active hands that time.
That's Sophia Carbonaro.
at Lithia Springs defensive starter.
spot along with Ariana Boone Silver.
and that linebacking corps.
A lot of underclassmen in that front four few more veterans, including Pressley McDermott and Lithia Springs as declared to punt They go three and out.
And here is the punt from Bethany King.
and plus territory and tumbling forward that time.
Josh Sheffield, exactly what you wanted right there.
to the second half starting on defense.
Get a three now.
Keep everything in front of you.
by the Greenbrier Wolfpack defense.
The first time out, as a quarterback is her accuracy.
first pass to Pressley McDermott Junior.
That's her 60th catch of the year.
Their most physical wide receiver.
headed monster in that receiving corps.
You've got Maggie Pangle.
probably the most talented to test on.
MCDERMOTT The largest, most physical yet.
Abby Lester, the sophomore center.
as well, Meyers and Sheffield.
So on second down, it's a deep shot down to the and oh no, they have an injury here.
This is Maggie.
Hang on.
She is grabbing her left knee.
Oh, no.
She's clearly shaken up here.
of the state championship.
She's going down and now comes head coach Daniel Jordan.
and just get the foot from the knee and just landed improperly on that ankle.
Also a highly talented soccer player and she is Greenberg's leading receiver.
for the Wolfpack here.
Oh, no, Dave.
I'm sure some of that and I'm sure some of that also due to of the state final.
you mentioned the term that that that's confusing.
we saw the replay right there.
going for the football.
No one's really initiating contact.
to push off or or tackle anybody.
We're not going to see that.
going down and going down the field.
maybe incidental contact right there coming down from where she jumps up.
We'll see them get back out there soon.
Yeah.
Good sign for Maggie Pangle.
some of her weight coming off the field.
She wasn't completely under her coach's looking for Abby, Lester falls incomplete.
Now it's fourth down season.
for Lithia Springs.
And this is their calling card.
They've got one of the staunchest defenses regardless of division.
who is a problem at that rushing position.
in all of Georgia flag football Hannah McIvor, but Jayden Graham, my Angel here on fourth and two in pass is complete.
It'll depend on the spot.
Avery Simpson reeled it in coming off the bench.
The sophomore filling in for Pangle.
So we'll see two different views on offense today.
the team away, a little more pass.
that gives the ball extended now does no chain crew out here first and ten so still for that wolfpack Gordon takes a deep shot and it's called in Aliyah Silver with the score and Greenbrier has the lead in the early going with a 20 yard touchdown pass.
where the week already this year, just double covers, on the football and come down with it and now a chance for the extra point.
or three attempted from the three yard line.
The three from a ten.
drive for Greenbrier Horton by Imani Roberts.
but one more look.
just got behind the defense here for just enough time get that ball out lions can make some adjustments there would be a lot better off.
a five play, 32 yard drive just over 2 minutes off the clock in last season.
score the entire season across 18 games.
as impenetrable this year, find a way into the endzone.
A perfect start aside from the injured.
Imagine they got and off the hands of Hannah McCarver.
Resume Minix Moss the Lions defense even more.
in the four playoff games, so still been very dominant in this team.
So second down and six from the 14 it's a boosting you down the right side as a rush as a running back.
Yeah.
we'll expect the Lions to get and just see how the whole thing's open.
Even I can run through that.
nine right there, because she had a lot more speed than I do for the Lions.
and get you a golf cart.
Boom.
You're on your way.
Absolutely.
Use a sundial.
Well, the roof's closed.
Can't do that.
first and 16 at 10 minutes, Moore surpassed drops on the slant.
That time from my Angel Ross third year starter at the receiver spot.
her going emotion right there and I she was ahead of the defender covering her the lions come back in that play so second down and 16 those were shy of minutes moss over 1800 yards passing this year more of a pocket passer it's complete it off to the races Lithia Springs Touchdown Lions Jasmine McDowell 66 yards Wow what a response.
the girls on the field, a calm, cool there in the pocket you just mentioned.
She's a pocket passer.
three speed here there and gone just her sixth catch of the entire season her fourth touchdown.
didn't she did absolutely All right.
point attempt to take the lead moss over the middle and it's and we are tied at six Sophia Carbonaro with a deflection But run from the lions.
What can you say about Jasmine McDowell?
the up quarterback and the deep safety.
Found the soft spot.
Yeah.
Heads up, player right there.
just finds the open space.
Good relationship with the quarterback yard pass that we have seen this week when they need to beat the lions.
and we spoke to both coaches we got to wait our time defensively again, not the case.
9 minutes.
And look at Avery Simpson, down.
has a bigger fourth down figure to play speaking game the zone drive goes to her So second down and two, Kinsey Horton and it's dropped by Carrington Myers.
getting any touches so far.
What do you got?
Yeah, Checking on Maggie Pangle.
She right now is in the tent.
specifically the left ankle.
That left ankle.
right now.
They're going to check mobility to keep an eye on that as we go.
being taped in the tent for Maggie Pangle.
Thanks, John.
We appreciate the insight there.
the leading receiver went down in for Greenbrier today.
In a rush at the middle from Carrington.
that the first quarter comes to a close.
Some thought this would be a rock fight.
Not so fast.
in the first quarter, between Lithia Springs and Greenbrier.
The flag football state final GPB.
don't forget to wear your seat belt.
I got it, Mom.
It's a nice day.
You know, it is.
so many tomorrows can disappear.
Buckle up for your future.

EMC is so much more than electricity.
of time talking about girls flag football here at the state finals, in our officiating crew.
This morning.
she is the first woman white Championship history, flag or tackle.
for having a chance to represent majoring in sport management.
football player as well.
and to her right Caroline, they are the first two women a GHC state championship.
individuals is it's not about them.
shout out there, but well-deserved glad they're here today, Football Fans Association to start the second quarter.
right off the fingertips of Ilia silver all the way up here Aliyah frustrated she couldn't hold that one in.
Yeah.
warming up the building forward, coming out here in the second quarter up front so far, Amani applying so much pressure, you could see maybe three blockers.
Surprised that front, tells you how talented to rush one against three.
who takes on Lithia Springs, their defense is so effective, because they can get pressure rushing so six others can drop into coverage.
And that's why they're so difficult.
through a triple team and she beat it.
Well, money.
Roberts Over 30 sacks.
Are you kidding me?
want it to existent right there again through the blocks there you know maybe not the most mobile quarterback be in the spring right there.
kind of mix things up here.
Goes back many little quicker spread out a little faster to slow down.
was that Braveheart right there?
Little William Wallace You're welcome.
There it is.
enough.
She looks like she's and she's providing pressure on the outlet Incomplete Holland in coverage.
And she was right and that'll bring a fourth down.
And now Greenbrier will be forced to punt.
What we just saw right in Division two Flags.
and not backing down right there.
So in the first drive, the second quarter and flag.
not a fourth down.
going to go for it or you're going to punt the offense is not going to run downfield.
until the ball kicks up.
Boom.
Now we'll see it really downfield.
hit on a hop And what a pull Pressley McDermott's a 45 yard punt.
and they're seeking their second as you see a state runner up in 2021 County and triple overtime.
going at triple overtime.
defeated Central Carrollton last year.
you look at that, that one in the loss and Davis for Coach Pleasant breaking that streak took a lot of pressure off now we can start our season.
Since then they have lost Yeah.
they lost to me this pretty talented guy, the school as well and they Avaya shed Rick on the carry but luster again with that punt return right a very very very long play it Stop in the tracks Nope no first and ten again line the game.
got a long second down play here.
from a strategy standpoint, maybe the punt returner of that next zone to gain it.
one or two yards past it.
Yeah, absolutely.
football players run close maybe on first down and put the ball down or go down to bring up a second down and 20 catch there for Brielle got a pool of flags.
at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The first person has a bull flags it's now third down for that new zone.
The next boss and a fluttering pass short to Holland.
it would have brought up fourth and long.
going to punt here.
Oh yeah, we're going to punt right here conversation going on.
to the two minute of the second quarter.
for the Wolfpack offense.
Now, Bethany King, who was identified by Coach Pleasants for her leg and she bombs one there.
It's caught on the fly, though.
the right side collides into her teammate and it will take over around the 40 yard line.
and then look at some of the heartbreak.
They've experienced.
in the last two seasons.
Lithia Springs team, semifinal game last Thursday at McDonald.
semifinal, so battle tested, no doubt.
Now, one loss for Greenbrier.
did you one guess who got them?
The southeast pool of 62.
And yes, they are.
looking for silver.
right now he's in the team.
and that's got to be the priority But there's still the Springs defense.
she can, no doubt for her team but does limit the options offensively for the Wolfpack as Silvers been targeted.
Just one catch.
Although it was a big one, that touchdown catch on Greenbrier, an opening drive and a low snap and it has dropped.
the ground, Dave lays over.
right there for the Wolfpack offense got a little different look right option part a little pitching catch trying to set that one up.
But low snap just dropped it.
on the sidelines, hands on her hips.
Nellie, what's the latest?
Good.
to put any kind of weight you want to try to start running a start Not looking likely.
at the half and find out.
Thanks, John.
That is just too bad.
If that is indeed the case.
Looking for Percy McDermott there.
And we got a flag coming out here late on the previous play, rushing the passer on the defense ten yard penalty automatic first down with the call there and Coach Pleasants that call might be a little dubious.
I think we've got a replay.
piece of flag football versus others we see on TV.
We've got to scale down a contact like they were lost contact on the pass.
There we go from a third down.
Incomplete pass now a first down in this pass complete to Silver.
And she just steps out of bounds on that side of the field there, which is that white tape.
an inbound so incomplete.
this game is a little shorter.
but again, if that's ruled incomplete, and very short compared to first and long, it looked like she got a foot down.
Should that have been a catch?
football rule is the same with one foot inbounds with possession that could have been a completion but replay or video review only four tackle football stat pass complete the clearance.
Miers is now first down and twenties.
get stopped for the two minute warning but again mimics something off slow down on the impact of a money.
what we saw yes a little bit of southeast on the edge little faster completes and silver grab by her jersey Then the flag comes down and perhaps could have been a holding call there Maybe yeah.
and their advancement, you could argue for up a holding.
two stops running right there out.
Yeah.
All right.
It's here we are on second down.
Horton is going to run with it.
her flag ripped away by McDowell.
And again, the clock will run here brings up third down and about six.
you say that.
She's a pocket passer.
there.
I'm not going to force it.
Let me get the ball.
play right there.
now to third a mantel again clock is it in from Evans Georgia Keep in mind that know we set in the second half.
for the fourth quarter in the backfield.
Roberts Kinsey Horton before she released the ball and long.
The clock has stopped here with 48 seconds left.
Nice, relentless effort out there for down for number 21. long correctly called that the flag was pulled before the pass.
not because of completion, obviously, whether they wanted to punt or go for it.
As Horton rolling in the right and it's batted in the air now Marty Roberts breaking this game right now.
Just just an utter difference maker.
if you talk to anybody around the state, number ten you want up front can do havoc against the offense.
again, expect some adjustments there for Coach Dalton.
As we progressed through this ballgame.
a little bit.
pretty bright here in the state final Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
So 33 seconds left.
and would they opt to use a time out here if necessary?
they give it to Sheridan.
Surging, splitting.
And she knocked over McDowell as camp and Eric Holder flat clock will run ball at the 36 on this 80 yard field.
mark should be at the 46 yard line right now.
10 seconds left.
Will they snap it?
They don't have to.
One more shot from Lennox Moss, Nil.
the end of the first half.
that was highlighted by great offense.
it's all about the defense.
So we've got ourselves a tie game looking to take down the team each of the last two years.
coach Daniel Jordan and John Nelson.
Thank you very much.
WHALEY Obviously, first, it's two partners.
Do you think she's going to come back had to be reoriented with her loss?
if she's going to come back.
to talk to the trainer, get some news at half time.
We definitely trust in both sides of the ball, and I hate it for her more than anything, we've got defensively.
except for that one big play Pretty much.
Oh yeah, we're it's tough, especially now without Maggie.
a little bit of things defensively so we've got to play All right, Thanks for your time.
Thank you.
from the Greenbrier site.
It is beginning a day number two.
It has been long plays, a lot of folks.
We're looking at defense.
We got a long and a score on the board from Greenbrier.

Georgia Players.
you save it pharmacy star Mariana right?
I just 16 years old.
She broke a state title in the 300 meter.
Here's her story.
When Marianna first started running track, because of her character.
that was running faster than her.
never running before.
And so that's kind of what I thought.
I know she's pretty good at that.
She's Olympic bound.
I mean, right now, at her age, she's better than a lot of those that day.
She is not in my mind.
is the clock.
more than the competition, really.
you Save it pharmacy.
Thank you so much.

that's ranked nationally number ten.
So awesome.

Chip, thank you so much for being here.
We're going to get more on your team with John Nelson.
been going on during this flag game?
to the locker room, Lithia Springs, and they're getting everything out.
in a sec.
But if you look Greenbrier, Greenbrier did not leave.
They did not go to their locker room.
trying to get everything reoriented for the second half.
And obviously we'll have an injury update coming up in a little bit.
She's still trying and that left ankle not looking about that coming up in just a little bit.
But it's been fun to see the big plays.
You know, how it was going to be a defensive battle.
you know, you know, five yards, three yards it.
But you're going to have to earn it today.
from Lithia Springs.
from Greenbrier on a long touchdown pass.
So it's been interesting to see how, you know, was going to go one way and then it ends up being just wide open.
in fifth gear out of the blocks.
So I want to see what the adjustments are.
we'll catch up with the Lithia and find out what her adjustments are she's prided himself on her defense Hannah on the board today.
just a little bit.
Absolutely, John.

speed and speed stuff that has been the hallmark for Lithia Springs.
Got you.
That score on the board?
to stay and poise on offense and given our quarterback Olivia she could be able to throw the ball.
with what we're doing.
We just got to make a little adjustments.
when you and I were talking a wakeup call giving up that first score.
What adjustments that Greenbrier got on the board?
Our our defense, which is just concentrating on their man.
then they'll be good to go.
Looking forward to it.
Thank you so much.
what's going on with Lithia Springs.
upstairs to Wylie and Dave.
Thanks, Nellie.
we saw some fireworks there earlier.
first, those first two touchdowns.
First for Greenbrier, Get on the board.
They got the stop, they get the ball.
Aliyah Silver, she got behind the defense.
right there with the pressure up front.
Just enough time to slip behind.
in the backfield they can fix that battle.
before she hits Jasmine McDowell.
Then boom, there she goes.
Yes, I'm still up.
And she takes it all the way to the house.
Very athletic play right there.
shift the hips, outrun the nets flag.
MILLER And then to the house so two first quarter stats a couple of home things kind of calm down a little bit.
That could be the difference.
there's two players mentioned right there.
makes them adjustments run kind of caliber coaches and let's play flag football for another 20 minutes.
their state championship.
Meanwhile, Greenbrier that has knocked them each of the last two seasons.
They deferred after winning the coin toss first and six on their own.
19 here or even a penalty coming here.
I'm think I'm missing something up here.
Yeah, I think so.
First and one here.
at the 14, but it's currently on a 29 and oh, here we go.
Good catch.
Good catch.
we go.
Let's just get out of the locker room quarter.
Boom.
You just spoke.
now on the 14 first and six?
Here we go.
Now we're ready.
Look, you and I have done this from up here than being down there.
if you will, around the left side.
And the first rush that time, put it in the hands of Josh Sheffield.
That's her first touch of the game.
while he had for you know, he's with the rules guru David Reynolds.
of the past couple of years as well.
Good catch right there.
to walk out of here a couple of inches taller than me to make two.
All right.
six yard rush from Josh Sheffield looks like Silver and Sheffield weren't quite on the same page.
Yeah.
I think she just slips on her round again.
Try to get the ball out is definitely applying that pressure.
Number 21 as a deadly.
what the coach drew up in the dirt.
as we did yesterday, especially with Southeast sport.
That could be a way to try and counter a great defense of both these teams and run at a molly Roberts's.
scrimmages behind you.
I'm coming for that flag.
football field.
of not forcing anything.
Just take what the defense gives you.
Nothing is downfield.
Don't force it.
Try to get out, pick up a couple of yards.
able to float over there and shut it down right there.
No sign of Maggie Pangle.
I know.
We caught up with Coach Jordan.
They're going to the locker.
Wasn't sure about her availability.
to start this third quarter and a fine catch great hands Pressley McDermott getting both feet down make a Roberts drop them on slot runner Alexa take a shot from the rusher in the face no doubt on fourth down a huge part of this game and with the respect they each have for each other's defenses, position.
that gets inside the turn gathered by Hannah McIvor and she stopped right at the 20 football measurements.
But that's a pretty important stop right there not first and one yards a big deal.
Yeah again nice second punt right there by the freshman to the point team to cover and 20 she's had a 45 yard boot return there from a guy ever.
So first and 20 got to get to midfield to that new zone to gain Rick whittling threw in her flag.
those were good hands.
Was that Sophia Carbonaro again?
She's been all over the place.
either shed or could cut through the running back is right there.
Picked only a couple of yards up.
the Wolfpack defense there.
right there by a line.
So far has not had success with it.
the Lions can make some adjustments this past and the Wolfpack rushing rushing mix into that quick throw.
middle linebacker spot for Greenbrier.
invested in Greenbrier flag football.

there all games over at Evans.
to watch your daughter play, we need to make this program successful.
And there is Maggie Pangle ready to play in the second half.
And it's a sack behind the line.
Lisa michael, the senior with her 10th sack of the year.
You, Ariana Bennett.
Alisha Michaels To kick just the speed up front again quarterback tries to avoid the but number five right there in her face Michael a bull in a china shop early on they had to kind of teach her penalties as the punt is muffed.
And this will be another first and long 3922 yard punt again and flag football when it hit the ground dead right there.
coordinator so far in this third quarter, with the third possession here, the third and twenties as Greenbrier takes over.
Maggie Pangle still doing all but has not gotten to go yet.
down the left side and stretching.
Josh Sheffield in this third quarter.
a basketball cheerleader, the winner.
football state champion, doing her part football offenses like to do that, and ball click pitch, boom, boom, boom.
Get the ball is similar to rugby.
Get in space.
we haven't seen yet today.
Sheffield It's just a Horton.
it back to kids in the trailer.
Cedric says, Tried harder, always like you said, different formation again, for Kenny Horton and the passer linebacker stay at home right there by the new formation to the ball.
The one over here going over there.
Nice.
I'm staying at home.
But number nine there, Cedric, both on the flag football field off of it.
singer competition earlier this year since he knew it was coming to replace Maggie Pangle Greenbrier is top receiver and maybe a little bit of a decision here.
fourth down offense elects to kick and one that makes some money Roberts running towards and making the passer Mackenzie Horton go to her left right patient hand, which again takes away it was 21 up front, creating havoc.
this punt here.
I beg your pardon?
I believe.
And how about Maggie Pangle?
to the field here on defense.
So 17 yard punt, that's a big return.
The question is, how close is she to 100%?
was in the opening minutes of the game.
receiver, lands down the knee.
She's got a full brace on there mashed up here against, I believe, Hannah McIvor and medics.
Moss gets it away, but it falls short.
a real highlight.
Springs challenges Pangle with that, that's a little deflated.
just staring down that receiver to her left side, right?
let's just see first play, see just how strong that ankle is.
75 yards though touchdown pass to Jasmine McDowell second and 20.
And Sheldrick Silva who snagged the flag.
she gets to that level.
does it here, right?
to shift those hips again for you.
Developing flag football players out there and get away from that defender So it chops that down in half.
So now what?
Two way more manageable.
to play in the third quarter when the flag is pulled behind the line.
But they're saying that she got the first down end a right there to the zone line, the game.
Oh, boy, that's where the ball is.
And the flag is pulled no instant replay and flag football.
I beg your pardon, Dave.
for the first.
So now it is first and 20 from a 20 but they say they got it behind the line.
Yes it's a sack Michael again with a bull rush Number all y'all want to win the other defensive quarter will match it on our side to.
So when we come back, it'll be Second Mile for Lithia Springs.
They have the ball.
Greenbrier, trying to pull off the upset.
Pangle has come back for the Wolfpack coach Kendra Pleasants looking for another trophy.
Our number one priority is protecting our players.
for the sport and developing to protect our athletes.
This is player protection.
This is high school football the only in Cartersville.
Bartow.
Three Smithsonian affiliated Museums full of unique restaurants and shops, staycation Only in Cartersville, Bartow, D and the Governor's Red Ribbon campaign for substance misuse prevention.
Be kind, to your mind, live drug free.
and living a drug free lifestyle at DJ Red Ribbon Dawg Lithia Springs in Greenbrier tied at six an alliance, a senior class that has had more success and their third looking for their second straight title.
in the tackles games for both sides.
this is the last quarter of flag football.
football and flag football early on this week.
Very competitive match ups, no doubt here for a fourth quarter, 10 minutes.
Something's got to give here, no doubt.
start of the fourth quarter, second down got to get to midfield for that new zone to gain.
The next moss steps up in the pass court.
What a catch.
Just five catches on the entire season and she's now got two for 76 yards today.
When you have so many to stop all seven on every single play.
in the better position right there.
You're on defense with the great concentration and grit.
So here we go.
got to get to midfield to get that new set of downs.
to high with the interception Pressly Nick and then on her forehead.
in her face in rushing minutes.
MOSS That was close.
right there down around likes to kick takes that on if she catches it a lot of space in front So Lithia Springs, the football but they are fortunate that they'll get to punt first.
Bethany King takes it away.
Straight ahead.
Silvers Got it.
weaving out and pitches it.
that out of the flag was pulled or Maggie Pangle stepped out of bounds.
28 yard punt, a one yard return.
And now at 8 minutes until the final 2 minutes, Greenbrier has a chance to exorcize some demons from seasons past.
They had Jasen McDowell.
all right now, one of the few new starters from a year ago.
And again for flag football.
relationship just got the flag caught just in time Great nobody more.
Statistician Kevin Barnes.
today, a pinch hit catch as Terrance and Myers lunges and she gets it to the 30 yard line.
and ten on this 80 yard flag football field Lithia Springs can their defense pick them up again no huddle coming over here to the Greenbrier sideline.
15 seconds on the play clock.
to the field of play Coach Daniel Jordan.
that he comes to the state championships every year as a fan.
to coach on the same field as this.
Throw pretty well touched.
head turned around it.
Time to get to it again.
Maybe another miscue right there.
looking in the backfield, where number two was right there So potential there.
But that's all it.
left in this fourth quarter with that running clock.
you would see in the tackle game.
high in the air falls incomplete.
Looking for Maggie Pangle.
That brings a fourth down and more.
although we do have a flag on the field.
Pass interference in a first down as well.
Pleasants can do nothing but look for the next series?
He's going to look jaded.
Graham, you're all for it.
What do you have there?
Yeah, I didn't see much there from a pass interference perspective, but again, moves the line to gain.
Now it's first down to winning.
Portland Pass is caught by McDermott.
I wonder that previous call the fact that the receiver made it look a little than it might have actually been.
Yeah.
to the ground, all the above.
So there, that corner, it can go your way.
Defensively, you got a clear, to kind of move on to the next one.
maybe two for each team left here for the deep McDermott makes the catch incomplete.
A flag comes out.
of bounds.
Pass interference second down one more look here of play they call Pastner Fierce.
They're we haven't seen it on the replay days Ross were battling for the ball.
the field of play and comes back same as tackle flip again.
like type of football and towards the end zone, McGee playing the time she's in now with a bad ankle.
It all has to include the biggest kitchen Greenbrier football history.
all you want to do is compete right there.
getting the hips turned back around, coming through in the past hour and a half.
I mean, she is tougher than the $3 steak.
Nice job.
Defenses are not in a bad position.
shoulder pass right there for a touchdown for the Wolfpack.
where she injured her ankle three and a half quarters ago.
You can tell not at full strength, but a huge catch.
after they go to Pingel but a flag comes out behind the line.
Again, the cornerback play very physical right there.
Pass interference defense.
half the distance to the goal try for one.
for Maggie Pingel.
Another look here and that looks like the right call to you.
Yeah, pretty physical there.
You more than anything, Dave, about another minute off the clock.
this clock will run even during the point after try is going to try to milk this thing they're going to call a timeout.
In fact, timeout Greenbrier and you listen look at Daniel Jordan minutes away from the state championship, ended their season the last two seasons.
guts, glory, all that.
Maggie Pangle Wow.
I mean, she was not coming back in this game.
not only to to her desire to play, getting her ready.
I mean, I mean, what a moment.
Yeah, it's it's incredible.
Student athletes want to play.
They want to compete.
ankle.
Jane and Graham goes back for the ball just out here.
Ball control.
your veins are Frosty compete a little later on in the afternoon when everything's calmed down.
a state championship.
Yeah.
All right.
So ball spot about the one and a half.
Looking for that point after 14.
Yeah.
all over it.
And the clock does not run after will not resume again until we snap first six.
So a risky time out there.
Yeah, sure.
down for that extra point.
Had they not called that through all of this right here to the two minute stoppage.
So 2 minutes, 35 seconds and rushing minutes.
each the last two seasons.
Yeah.
to lead this offense down the field.
Where do they go?
The next Moss steps.
Yep.
It's complete panic.
making tackles missed and a touchdown saving tackle in pull there right around the 4535 yard line What a pause them Mandy Pangle again you know player again just long physical upfield they get it off Minix moss in the air in Maggie Pangle she is 17 just great right now wants it to be a two minute warning You know coach Jordan told us and a teacher one day.
but He sees those traits in her.
She's leading by example right now.
So second down in about 6 minutes, Moss but her flag pulled and it's a sack down and the clock will run.
That time it was Ari Boone.
Time out Lithia Springs.
Lithia Springs calls.
Time out.
And Dave, with that in mind, that if they were to give the ball up, they likely could not get it back.
collective could pleasant is.
We know third and about 8 to 9 got to get back on the ball, get a little bit of flow.
We're athletic enough offensively.
We have playmakers on offense.
Keep doing what got us here.
Don't panic.
Not yet.
just keep it in front of you.
lay out all the above.
Keep it in front.
Then for the next play.
Jazz McDowell has been the big play piece for Lithia so far today.
Will they go her way?
But look who's in at quarterback.
She's got the big arm.
a jump ball, and it falls incomplete.
Targeting my angel Ross.
Cassandra West, a softball pitcher.
and they have brought her in.
surprisingly don't on the third down and a half you do bring in the bigger arm not enough time to get the pass off.
So now obviously nine yards here and now we're shy a minute Moss back in and quarterback to keep this drive alive Minix Moss is set.
She is sacked Alisha Michael turns Lithia springs over on downs with a change of position.
and they have the football locker releases out tonight.
the defender to go right up their block.
right away.
They shut that play down.
It attracts she could not get it off of Alisha she cannot help but smile ear to ear.
Lithia Springs but Alisha Michael in the second half.
Just wondering if there's some way they can get the ball back and a little bit of a sweep.
Sheffield's flag pulled by Roberts will call their second time on the play clock.
25 seconds.
They've got one more time out.
to get the ball back here, right?
There won't be much left.
if you're from Evans, Georgia, keep the ball inbounds.
We're okay not making the big play.
Make them burn the time out.
Keep getting the clock rolling.
Pangle has been the star for Greenbrier.
There's senior or rather junior leader.
Earlier in the game.
She goes down with her left ankle.
opening 3 minutes just moments ago with the bad ankle.
She makes the catch in holes in the go ahead touchdown.
And look at this place.
She made big time trouble ahead of McAdoo.
Hager makes the tackle I mean she has been the difference in this fourth quarter of the state final and Sheffield's still up in that flag yanked away real Holland all the stops not calling time out here and then presumably call it after this play which at this point at that body because it was throwing for the first down down.
So we've got about 6 seconds here, third down a first down.
The Greenbrier will win the title.
It's Meyer's and Roberts pulls her flag.
And now we have the final timeout called by Lithia Springs.
So now Lithia Springs, we've been talking about when there's no field goal kicks there.
I assume, go for it here, first state championship, Lithia Springs.
short.
to be on the ground.
short of landing and get the ball back.
of option here.
Offensively, where do you think Greenbrier will go?
Offensively?
I'm going right back up the middle because I'm not going to risk it.
to get the biscuit.
with the clock the way it is.
just ball security ball security box.
Now you get real.
We could run around the field 45 or down, but let's play that just short of the day.
All right.
if they get the first down, which would be out of the 30 they'll win the state title, taking the shot and it is intercepted My angel our Jayden Graham, rather picks it off it kind of works as a punt, right?
Yeah.
Good, good, good option there.
Also put the ball out there.
Why not, though?
Number one, one more time we get an interception there.
Here.
Touchdown.
there.
Makes the field a lot longer here.
No timeout clock will start on another a lot of work to do here.
for the line offense.
And to be fair to Graham you know there is a chance I could run this back.
for four making it catches Cassandra in the game She's got to take some shots.
through the hands of Maggie Pangle.
What a finish that would have been.
out of that ankle or she is hobbling to run it back to back?
Nice job by enough but down the field a little bit there.
Did he feel the ball just batted down?
You know the zone the game but they've got to get to the end zone and West is sacked behind the line.
Alisha Michael on a rampage because there are no time outs back in their 10 seconds left, 78 yards to go for a safety as time expires.
Greenbrier wins this game.
What a sight.
her guts and toughness and Alisha Michael, who turned into perhaps the best pass rusher, the state here in that fourth quarter, Greenbrier wins the state championship in their fourth year flag football.
They take out a Lithia Springs team the last two years.
what can you say about what we saw but but really the entire Wolfpack a flag football is.
That's what flag football is all about.
If you're late joining us football is, that's it right there.
The passion the guts, the glory, the grit, and for your teammates.
Job well done, Wolfpack.
Well, it's not going to be a donut party after they shut out an opponent for a win.
anyway, with the sendoff party.
we left yesterday.
will be just as fantastic.
Tears on both sides.
Kinsey Horton, by the way, finishes ten for 2186 yards.
A couple of big touchdown passes to Aliyah Silver and Maggie Taylor and coach Daniel Jordan.
on the football field as something that felt unreachable to him.
We spoke to him earlier this week.
you can see it's his presence right there.
and for the school for the program.
He's just glad to be here.
Let's go get our trophy in for Lithia Springs.
You know, for a school that, have much winning football tradition, their tackle program is on the rise for these girls in this senior class.
I know it ends in heartbreak, a pretty compelling argument of flag football in this class for any Lithia Springs team.
Now in recent memory.
they're heartbroken, but just a phenomenal, phenomenal run with the state championship a year ago.
a program, they have reached it to about Southeast Bullock and the street that's one and one B has been these lions the big lights three years in a row fantastic to watch be around the girl talking to the coaches Job well done.
Yeah I know but they have a lot to be proud of.
And they fought to the very last second on the clock here.
the state champions of flag football in Division two, the semifinals two years ago, the second round last year.
In this time, as Maggie by her quarterback, Kenzie Horton.
I mean, talk about just a Herculean effort from the junior team and John Nelson standing by with Dr. Robin Hines.
Nelly, thank you very much.
present the first trophy of day work by our friends from Lithia Springs, Quality folks and a quality program number two.
the first trophy of the day.
the Georgia High School Association, Dr. Robin Hines, thank you.
My congratulations to Lithia Springs.
What a great year that you've had.
Coach, come on over here.
All right.
You've been close and now you're here.
You've won that thing in dramatic fashion.
What's it say about your team?
I'm just proud of the fight.
Of course, we had a big injury early on.
touchdown, wasn't 100% healthy but made a play.
Coach is our pleasure on behalf and the Georgia High School Association to Greenbrier High School.
before the game.
for two years, end of year number two, game of the year, getting the trophy but I'm going to ask it, how does it feel?
It feels pretty great.
the way they prepared us and our defense the whole game, exactly what we had to do.
getting after it is pretty fun to watch when you look that you had there in Lincolnton to now to come together as a group what does that camp mean in the journey coming forward?
So at that camp?
and we called it the Lakeside Chat thing.
and we started believing in one another.
another for a state championship.
Greenbrier State champs in flag football.
upstairs to Wiley and Dave.
Thanks, Nellie.
Greenbrier Evans Georgia state champions.
overwhelming and Maggie Pangle.
if you know the name Jack Youngblood he played on a broken leg.
the Jack Youngblood of Georgia High School flag football.
I mean, wow, just an incredible effort.
And her teammates as well, Alisha Michael, in the second half multiple times.
with that safety sac in the end zone.
inside the television booth as you get trophy.
Wow.
I mean, you know, Mercedes-Benz Stadium never disappoints.
And that goes for flag football as well.
like today?
that big time playmaker, right?
some of the injuries that person, maybe it's not.
that play together win.
No doubt the camaraderie right there, the to watch from Greenbrier today.
either.
catch on Greenbrier, the opening drive, just her third catch of the season.
So a total team effort for Greenbrier.
And we really appreciate you joining us.
at some scoring plays here and how this whole thing played out.
a deep shot from Kinsey the sophomore in for six.
One more look from behind the end zone.
as you're in the backfield.
Nice job.
Lithia springs on their subsequent drive.
just her sixth catch of the year.
And yes, that flag still on.
let it fly all the way to the house all in the first quarter.
in the second, zeros in the third, and then here in the fourth.
Maggie Pangle bad ankle.
It all makes the catch into the end zone.
The game winner earning Greenbrier in flag football.
And with that safety there at of 14 to 6 day, this was a thrill.
but for Greenbrier you know Jordan was so emotional against southeast Bullock by winning their final 19 games.
Yeah that's beautiful to watch.
And again, you can't script any better.
going to be and when the team needs him.
Right.
it might be, be there for your team.
So hats off to the Wolfpack.
Well, I think it's safe to say flag Stadium filled with drama coming for you today three beginning with Rock Mart in Pierce County, who win the state title, Lithia Springs.

First one of the day.
what happened on Georgia's EMC scoreboard.
Georgia's EMC is so much more took down the defending Champs in program history.
Final score 14 to 6. out of the running.
so a little revenge in order.
Time to toss it to with our Cotton Commission player.
This game, Bam, get this and get this.
has officially adopted our Georgia Cotton Maggie Pangle.
It was a obvious choice for us.
the natural choice for Georgia.
Our natural choice for player of the game.
First off, how are you?
I'm great.
a little injured, but that's better so I can doggone it, maybe.
But yeah, we're good.
they were bracing it.
There was ice and everything at the half.
It was looking kind of dicey at points.
taping it inside and outside.
What was it like out there for you?
It was tough.
but I'm thankful I did it because we won and now we're state champs.
been like the last couple of years?
that you guys had, to the last game of the year.
You win the last game of the year.
What is this last two years been like?
It's been great.
so I've I didn't play freshman year.
I played my sophomore year.
for this God given opportunity.
and we've bonded and stuff, and I think we've earned it.
I'm trying to stand still because of this ankle K1.
Go ahead.
Let me show you.
Look at this thing and the outside of the boot third and fourth quarter.
And I know at times there was a decoy.
Congratulations.
an Augusta area school and flag football.
Thank you so much.
