Friday's in Georgia, presented by the governor's Office of Highway Safety, reminding you to buckle up.
Georgia, as we welcome you to the Eagle's Nest in Milton, where tonight it's a seven day state playoffs as the number two Colquitt County Packers have come to town to take on the number eight.
Milton Eagles.
And good evening.
Happy Thanksgiving weekend.
I met Stuart, joined by former Auburn Tigers all-American NFL first round draft pick and 15 year pro Wayne Gandy and Wayne.
Last time these two teams play the 2018 state championship, Milton won their first and only state championship that night, beating the Packers 14 to 13.
And neither side has forgotten.
And when you look at this game, we have a great Thanksgiving recipe for you, Matt.
We've got two Division one quarterbacks.
We've got receivers, five star Division one players offensively for both quarterbacks to be a high scoring game tonight.
Well, let's start with the high scoring Colquitt County Packers led by head coach Sean Calhoun and their division one quarterback Commit and that's Niko fan who's committed to middle Tennessee He's had a fabulous career Don't let the size fool you this young man can play football as he goes.
So does his offense and it goes well.
He has a great arm.
He can find that pass lane and yeah, he has a couple of receivers that's heading to big time programs at the next level.
Indeed he does, starting with four star Nykaa who was committed to Georgia, now committed to Miami and rated as high as the number eight wide receiver in the class of 2024, 61 receptions, 20 touchdowns on the season.
Mr. Carr is driving fast.
He has a leading speed, great routes, big down the field.
Can't wait to see him against these Tennessee commits of Milton.
Now what's interesting as Nykaa is committed to Miami, the quarterback for Milton is also committed to Miami.
One day they might be throwing passes to each other in night car might be catching passes from Luke Nickel, who's rated as high as the number 20 quarterback in the class of 2025.
And this young man, sometimes his name is Luke Mikhael, but he drops dimes, he's big, he's physical.
He can throw the ball down the field, he can throw those intermediate routes and he can find the open man consistently.
He's tough, he's gritty, and he will put his body on the line.
And what's interesting about Luke Nickel is he can be physical in the running game as well.
And he showed that the last time we were here when they defeated the Lambert Longhorns.
Now he's got a great stable of wide receivers to throw the ball to, starting with C.J.
Wiley, who's the four star junior 22 offers, including Georgia and his coach, Ben Reeves.
Feels like C.J.
could be a five star.
This man is big physical and he has balanced the field.
And what has made this offense go especially in the playoffs.
Look for him down the field working against those safeties, what a player he's turned out to be.
So it's Milton in Colquitt County in the quarterfinals.
Winner advances to the semifinals next Friday night.
Let's get this merry go round started and send it off to Nicky Noto Palmer Matt Wayne, the Milton Eagles are coming in with a chip on their shoulder.
News was shared on Wednesday that Colquitt County was ranked number two.
Milton Eagles were ranked number eight and also by the powers that be, they had Colquitt County Packers favored by 13 points.
Now Coach Reid's joke of that is he said, I might not be good at a lot of things, but I'm really good at taking my team off.
And by that he meant when he shared that information, he knew it was only going to add fuel to the Eagles fire, He said.
It went ahead and added a whole new element into this game.
He said, We're going to believe for four quarters and we truly believe we have the home field advantage tonight.
Matt Wayne, that Milton stands are behind us.
We were here round one.
There's a lot more eagles at the eagles nest tonight.
Thank you, Nicky.
Should be a fun one.
Wayne.
As these teams are fired up, we've had a big Thanksgiving.
People been home watching football.
Now a chance for them to get out and watch some football in person.
And let me tell you, the cold put county Packers fans travel.
They have represented in here tonight, packed in the air, the fans ready, people ready to bring out some of that Thanksgiving food out here CHEERING two great teams trying to get down to the Mercedes Benz Stadium, Colquitt County Packers, 12 and oh on the season.
The number one seed out of region 178.
The champions in that region went four and all three and on the road this is just the fourth road game for Colquitt County.
You should take a look at head coach Sean Calhoun and what a job he has done.
They are 25 and one in his two seasons as the head coach.
The only loss coming to Carrollton in the semifinals, the school he used to coach it before number five.
He came to cope with gap in time, credited to the city that they gave him a lot of talent to work with.
That was the key.
And he is definitely infusing enthusiasm back into this program.
And they are riding high right now.
At 12, A.J.
Milton rolls in at ten and two.
They have won seven in a row since their second loss of the season to North Cobb.
Back in week five of the season, they were the region six seven, eight champions for the sixth consecutive year, going five and also the number one seed coming out of region six, seven and one at home this season as we are ready for the opening kickoff and it is brought to you by buckle up, Georgia, buckle up Georgia seat belts save lives and number two and the freshman Kyren meaning doing the kick offs here.
He's only kicked off four times.
Third, this will be his fourth kick off of the season.
So putting the ball on the foot of the freshman here to start off this quarterfinal match up and the opening kick off a bouncer that's taken at the 30 yard line and the return up to the 43.
So Colquitt County is going to have good field position to start this game by 13 yard return as the Packers go on offense for the first time tonight.
And our chance to see Nico Phan committed to middle Tennessee on November 5th so just three weeks ago chose the Blue Raiders over five other offers, including Alabama State and Austin Peay.
See his numbers on the season 2700 yards, passing 34 touchdowns, five interceptions, close to 7500 yards passing in his career and they open an empty backfield, set.
Phan with time going to deliver downfield and misses Target at the 38 yard line trying to get the ball to save Williams As we take a look at the Packers offense it's brought to you by regions Bank and Collins there at left guard has overcome illness this season and he's got an offer from Troy Just pick that up last week here and the backs and the receivers Landon Thomas is rated as high as the number one tight end in the country.
He's committed to Florida State.
The ball goes to Zay Williams and Williams breaks a tackle across the 40 Zay Williams still on his feet on a cutback and finally brought down by Lawson inside the 20 yard line.
Only the hustle right there of Lawson to save that touchdown.
What an explosive player.
There's my car.
You're going with a little pace here, lining back up in the spread offense running people on the field is called quick getting guys off 36 yard pickup on the pass play ball goes to the outside and shoved out of bounds at the four yard line.
Marquise Wilson with just his 12th catch of the season.
Nice job pick up the first down back with the same play different receiver good blocking out there by Landon Thomas the big time in to secure that block and a nice move and run there by Wilson so that gives the Packers first and goal at the six make that the five I think maybe even the fourth so the handoff goes right up the middle to Deshaun Brown.
He scores the touchdown Wow takes Colquitt County all of 43 seconds to get in the end zone.
Five yard touchdown run by Deshaun Brown and Colquitt County strikes quickly Nice blocking on that left side He's shown Brown part of this Rick and Morty running back for Ramsey Dennis there just pushing his way into the end zone behind the left side of that line.
I think that was actually Deshaun Brown who scored that touchdown.
They got a two back up there with Deshaun Brown and Ramsey Dennis and a six nothing lead for the Packers.
And Brett Fitzgerald is on to kick.
Instead, they're going to go for two right here, going to throw the ball back and a double pass and the two point conversion as the ball goes to Nick Ha, Great play design there by offensive coordinator John Cooper.
Get the ball out quick denied Carr who's always so dangerous out in space and this time he decides to throw the ball make the pass That's a great job there right right here.
Deshaun Brown Just picking a spot, falling in behind that left side right here, getting the ball out to Zay Williams.
WILLIAMS Finding my car for the two point conversion.
Wow.
Colquitt County strikes like lightning puts eight points on the board in less than a minute.
Four plays in 56 yards, 43 seconds.
As you take a look at the governor's red ribbon campaign scoring drive and Colquitt County makes a statement on their opening possession, weighing an offense, A team becomes number 88 each and every game.
This year they put at least 35 points on the board.
That's how explosive they are.
They showed you that on the first drive, getting the ball out in space with their receivers and letting them do the work.
Nice job of execution, especially on those last two plays, the touchdown and the two point conversion.
So Fitzgerald will now kick off, kick coming down at the two yard line and the return up to the 24.
That was Marcus Lee and that's where the Eagles will put the ball in play as we have a Colquitt County Packers player down on his back.
Jermaine Ward shaken up on that kick return.
Well, that was kind of the message Ben Reeves had to his team this week is they might put a big number on the scoreboard that we're not accustomed to seeing.
And even if we get behind by two scores, don't hang your head.
We are capable of scoring as well, but was anticipating that we would have this kind of a shootout here tonight.
Definitely the message he was trying to get his players to understand that this is a very capable team.
And you talk about Colquitt County offensively, they can get on the field with anyone and score.
It's about trying to win this game, playing over the full 60 minutes, taking the blows and being able to throw something back.
Still looking at Ward down on the field, they have the helmet off.
Looks like they're examining his left leg and he seems to be in a lot of pain there, as you could see, grimacing on that right knee.
So that's either ward or it could be the safety as well, which would be a big loss.
Arnold Lira, They have to number nine teams on the roster.
So I'm going to guess that that is clear of who's their starting strong safety, which would be a big loss for them Injured player for the Packers not walking off junior.
Hopefully that's a sign that maybe that's a good sign he can get back in his game.
He is a big part of that senior led secondary for the Packers.
Let's see who lines up and takes his spot on that back line.
Golden Eagle football in the 24 yard line.
First down.
So the ball has been placed down at the 23 first and ten for the Eagles as they prepare for their first offensive snap, already down eight points.
Nicoll looking going for the home run trying to stretch the field and intercepted by Fuller at the 30 yard line Joe Boris Fuller with the interception his first in the season Great job here by Fuller his teammate back there Nick Pace back double bracketing right there on the receivers C.J Wiley really here Nicole just a bad choice of trying to throw this into double coverage as you can see right there high and low.
He is covered down the field.
Nice job of him on the ball playing receiver at that point is fuller coming up with the interception 13th interception of the season for the Packers as Fuller puts on the hard hat around the corner.
I tell you what, the Packers have brought their hard what a start for Colquitt County as they go back on offense at the 30 yard line.
Fan wings it out to the right side and stop right there the 31 yard line no gain on the play Lawson and too many are there on the stop along with AJ Benton Curry saying Williams tackle and here's when the Middleton defense has to play at a high level they have very capable players on that side of the ball especially in the secondary Right now the offense of Colquitt is in a groove on that first drive.
They're going to have to start playing at that same pace.
Second down and ten ball at the 31 pass incomplete as his target slipped down.
That was Zay Williams who just caught the previous pass.
And just remember take a look at the Eagles on offense say Williams that's actually defense it's brought to you by Regions Bank and Ellis Spencer Bell Lawson and Benton and then Stewart Redmond, Lester Jones and Lewis working out of the spread and once again seeing this team get the ball out quick, especially on the edge, just trying to their talent compete and fan on the run up to the 35 yard line.
They keep up the pressure there by Bell and Lawson up the field Smart decision there by fan didn't like him he being down the field big key for Colquitt is not to turn the ball over just deciding to tuck the ball and live another day So fourth down and a punting situation for Colquitt County Sam Miller on the punt standing at his 21 averaging 37.7 yards per.
But this season he's put seven inside the 20 and Lee is standing deep to return for the Eagles line drive kick going to hit at the 40 and roll dead at the 27 and that's where the Eagles will go on offense a 38 yard punt by Sam Miller Eagles back on offense when we get back.

Welcome back to the Eagles Nest and our football's in Friday Georgia broadcast.
Right now I'm standing with the Milton athletic director Corey Keys.
Corey this is a big thank you from our friends over at CIGNA.
A 1500 dollar donation to Milton High School.
Thank you for being such a great friend to GPB and Football Fridays in Georgia.
Well, we appreciate all the support we get from Signa GPB and you guys do such a great job for the state and for high school football everywhere in this.
A great atmosphere.
We got these cheerleaders here.
This is awesome.
This is what you play for right here.
That's right.
We got a deejay two down here.
Matt and Wayne.
Are they taking request Eagles getting ready to go back on offense.
Down eight nothing.
This will be their second possession and the regions bank starting lineup for the Eagles up front rushing Heinicke Kat Smart mons and Scott and then the quarterback Luke Nickel the running back T.J. Lester they're excited to get him back tonight and then the wide receivers Gatling Lee Wiley and the tight end G who just recently committed to Auburn for Eagle horrible run G warrior.
So the handoff goes to Amari Anderson.
He's going to get the first carry of the game and he picks up only one yard on the play.
That was Alfonzo McNeill, the strong safety, no doubt the guy whose step come in for Flea arrow.
He got hurt on the kickoff return.
Nice job of stepping up and making this play by McNeill.
Count on only a sophomore young player.
The senior era is out.
He's going to have to play big minutes.
But his defense second down and nine nickel being chased, throwing on the run delivers downfield to the 42.
And that's a big catch.
All the way down to the 39 yard line.
Number 12, nice job escaping the pressure here.
Getting that on the edge by Luke Nichols, throwing on the run, making himself available.
There's Tristan Payne, the junior.
Nice job of going up and getting that ball there by Payne.
Tristan Payne, 25 yard pickup in his 21st catch 29th catch of the season, I should say.
Down to the 38 yard line handoff goes to Anderson up the middle and Amari Anderson dragged down at the 34 yard line.
That was Tyshawn Reed, who's committed to Duke making the tackle.
And that is a good run for this.
Milton Eagles, all four, just enough to keep this defense honest, didn't have to have big long runs.
But those four or five yard runs for this offense keeps it balanced for Luke Nickel in this receiving corps So second down and six nickel to the air and that's complete the Gatling, the Bron Gatling all the way down the sideline.
Touchdown, Milton Mickens back to play number one big time game big time player De Bruin got him the senior to four star here to the Texas and Im last time out he was a little banged up tonight right here just a stop route and then let the talent as you can see 6 to 185 fast physical big time touchdown for his team.
So it's going to be that kind of game as Alex Nova is one for the patty 48 out of 48 on the season and he puts it up and through and it's 8 to 7 at the corner tip on number 25.
Gribbin told us he expected a big game from the Brian Gatling tonight.
Good protection, beautiful roof and this young man's just like night car from Colquitt County out in space.
Also dangerous.
Two of the top receivers in the state Brian Catlin, has all the tools in the making of a superstar showing you right there on that point OG after the game that you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger collection of superstar wide receivers in high school tonight than on this field.
Both teams combined Darren Gatling with this 61st catch of the season, his 10th touchdown catch of the season, and he's flown a little bit under the radar, if you will, behind C.J.
Wiley, who's the number one receiver in seven in total yardage.
Gatling hasn't put up the big numbers that he's put up in the past.
He's put up great numbers, but not the numbers.
The Gatling, or rather, that Wiley has put up this year and the kickoff is going to sail into the end zone.
And so the Packers going to have to start their third possession at the 20 yard line in the end zone and touchback.
So, Wayne, we've gone 4 minutes and 17 seconds and this is going to be the fifth offensive possession.
It's a lot of talent, especially in the skill position explosive players to quarterback that in one sitting right at coming into this game 3000 yards passing the other 2700 yards passing they're capable and these both secondaries are going to have trouble tonight containing so many variety of receivers out on the edge Nico Fann back out there to run the offense It's first and ten for the Packers from the 23 pass thrown complete the Marcus Wilson who gets decked right away at the 24 yard line by AJ Benton a point the numbers nice job of coming up and making that play there by Ty Redmond the corner just getting the ball out quickly out on the boundary good strike there by Redmond making that tackle second down and six and off nothing doing as the Packers try to run it into the teeth of the defense and they rally to the ball Brown AJ pin the man in the middle middle of his defense Stewart Big presence six feet to ten.
Junior loves to play down.
He'll going to be third down and six.
This is the down and distance that Milton came in this game.
They got to get off the field and you get Colquitt in these third and longs.
This is the bounce that he's doing this D-line has to get some pressure on fans fan with a pocket going to throw it to brown out of the backfield That's a first down catch as Deshaun Brown came around out of the backfield and picks up the first down and that's the option with these two backs Brown and Dennis.
They are very capable, very good hands out of the backfield, both running backs, nice firing there by fan That's part of when Coach Calhoun talks about him finding those passing lanes at his height.
Nice delivery of the ball there to Brown Deshaun Brown 946 yards rushing going to get the ball again and going to lunge forward to the 35 as he picks up four on the play.
Brown But number eight good blocking front falling forward from only 581 65 Vick in the leg area.
Keeping the defense honest.
Both teams want to throw the ball but you have to when you get those light boxes, be able to pick up four and five yards running the ball.
Faiane has started the game four of seven, passing for 61 yards, second down and six span now being flushed out of the pocket and gets rid of it and throws it away.
Great pressure coming from the nose guard Terrence Spencer right there, the big fella just letting that motor continue to drive him towards the quarterback.
Going to get a little risk there.
But what hustles from the nose guard to get all the way out on the numbers and put that hit on Pham?
Good job of Sam feeling that pressure and getting rid of that ball before the sack six play of the drive coming up.
It's third down and six electric start to this quarter final matchup and Colquitt County on top eight seven fan to the air got a man open at the 47 yard line and a flag out That'll be a first down catch if it stands that's night car with his second catch of the game.
I think we're going to get a false start here at the bottom of your screen.
Marquise Wilson, Greg Norton, our referee for illegal formation on the offense that's been will be five yards this way, third down.
So that wipes out the first day and first down catch by Knight Carr five yard penalty.
You see Sean Calhoun arguing in his case Calhoun back in Moultrie he was the O.C for Rush props in 2014 and 15 argue Bailey the greatest two seasons in Colquitt County history as the O.C.
They racked up close to 1400 points in two seasons, third down.
And we see that Coach Calhoun, he found some pants, man.
We saw him in the opening.
It's a little chilly out here.
He said he had to continue with his ritual of shorts during warm up, but what a great job he's done in his return here in two seasons, especially with this offense and how explosive they are.
Yeah, he was wearing khakis out there during pregame warm up, said, look, it's just a tradition, kind of superficial.
He says I won't be wearing I'm not coming to the game.
So third down and 11 following the penalty right here.
If you need go pairing one of these smart with this football, don't try to force the ball into tight coverage and let Middleton get an interception.
And we might have had movement by Colquitt County up front prior to the snap false start on the offense right away that penalty five yards still third down that backer antsy inside at that left guard position remains third down with false start old line had to be down in that stance a long time on that play there here in this down and distance look for screen or quarterback draw is something to get a couple of yards maybe break something but really don't feel like Nico fan is going to throw this ball down the field It's third down and 16 now Baldwin Back to back five yard penalties.
The first one wiped out a first down around the 50 yard line.
So costly fan with a pocket going up top got a man streaking open.
It's caught at the 20 yard line.
Nice car showing off his speed.
Number five, I call Nico famed coach Calhoun, offensive coordinator John Cooper, who came in this game to play safe.
Not Colquitt County, throwing into double coverage, dropping this ball on the back end over Makai Jones.
Double coverage there.
Dillon Lewis, nice job by nice car.
Just a post route and showing you his elite speed to get open 59 yard hit all the way down to the 16 yard line handoff goes to Ramsey all the way down to the six yard line Ram Tim Dennis on the carry right now this Milton defense looks a little shot of how big an explosive play he's had just come on them tonight.
That's a key that they're trying to put out right now.
They just seem to be reeling.
They have to get their poise, a lot of talent on that side of the ball, especially in the secondary.
And that's all outside linebacker position pass, more pop pass and that's a touchdown to the tight end.
Landon Thomas fast back to number zero Thomas Landon Great sail here by Landon Thomas So the officials are talking about something here during a play personal foul facemask on the defense that Peterson will be administered on the kick off touchdown So the touchdown stands 14 seven as the ball goes to Landon Thomas one of the top tight ends in the entire country.
Nice job of just in terms of defense.
And when you say sneaking a guy who's that size at 642 36.
Huge is hard to understand how he got missed on that release.
But a good job of selling the play action up front, being patient by fan and delivering the ball there to Thomas.
We were down on the field when we had eyes on him.
642 36 He's all of that, if not more.
He is legit size and a 15 to 7 lead for Colquitt County, 54 Culver County Packers come flying down the field it'll pop pass to Thomas Ladies and gentlemen Dolphins three they're all football Friday's in Georgia on GPB is brought to you in part by regions Bank get back in the game with Regions Bank at Regions Bank We're here to listen to your needs and we'll customize a plan to help you reach your financial goals.

Welcome back to Milton High School.
We're currently in round three of the state playoff match between Colquitt County and Milton School.
Right now it's Colquitt 15, Milton seven.
Now, when we were talking to Coach Calhoun this week, he was quick to mention about how these guys on the Packers team, they start playing when they are itty bitty.
Now, also when they're itty bitty, a bunch of these guys are born into some savage, brotherly love nicknames.
You know what I'm talking about?
Example Nico fan.
Well, the kids, his teammates said that he looks like Nemo off of the movie.
The Boris Fuller and Alexis Barnett, well, they're both called Juicy.
And you can imagine why.
Well, their mother thought they were the biggest, juiciest baby.
On to Jabbar Parris.
They owe him Buddha.
He was chubby as a kid, and his cousin nicknamed him that because of the statue.
Last but not least, appropriate for Thanksgiving week.
Jacoby and Daniels, they call him Turk.
Family said he had turkey legs as a child.
Good stuff, Nicky.
The balls on the 45.
Be careful for some kind of a pooch.
Kick here or not Squib, kick or nothing.
Just going to kick it out of the back of the end zone.
So that always surprises me when you're kicking off on the plus side of the 50 of the 45, why not onside kick there?
Because even if they recover, it's still the 35 or at least a sweep kick.
Make them have to field, use their fundamental and get the ball in probably end up with a shorter field.
Wayne let's take a look at your brain of pest management keys to the game for Milton.
Offensively, they got to go in thinking that this might come down to a last possession kind of mindset, a four quarter game offensively regardless of the score.
And for Colquitt, the big play we saw early on in that last drive for Milton with Gatling make the big plays those are the kind of plays they have to shut down and make Milton drive the ball, make them go on drives.
The Luton nickel is already past gone over the 3000 yard mark for the season with his performance tonight goes to the air again popped up in the air, intercepted again at the 31 yard line intercepted for the second time.
Flag comes out that was Trenton Dunbar the free safety as the ball bounced off the receiver's hands and was an easy pick.
Nice job coming up with the interception by Dunbar, but a better job by the Star Bake.
Blakely going up and tipping that ball.
Initially, you could see going the quick release right there, just missing on that receiver.
Yeah that was G and change of possession with a personal foul blindside block on the receiving team.
That penalty will be 15 yards from the yards from the spot of the foul resulting in a first down pass a little behind G right there He tips it up and then Blakely tips it up.
And then our man comes in and with the interception there, nice job of coming and rallying that ball by Dunbar.
Luke Nickel had thrown only two interceptions the entire season in the first 12 games of the year.
He has thrown two in the matter of 9 minutes on the game clock here tonight.
And it's just all about focus with that young man that right there on that play just on his name that was behind behind him on the late pass and G but very efficient, very smart player.
And now this defense right now he's really in the it's just one of those even though it's only 328 in the first quarter, you feel like this is a drive where Milton's defense has to stop this Colquitt County offensive unit fan whips it out to the far side ball goes to Zay Williams.
He steps out of bounds at the 39, picks up five on the play What a senior season Zay Williams has put together.
Calhoun about based on last year will unfocused but this year he came back as a senior and that's the thing there are some players that it does a couple of years for them to get in and say Williams is one of those guys on second down and five they give the ball to Deshawn Brown and he reaches the 36 going to bring up third down and short.
Yeah Zay Williams is a guy that was very inconsistent last year as a junior.
He's become their X factor this year.
Coach Sean Calhoun talked him in the offseason.
Look, if you can get off this rollercoaster and be consistent, our season can go through the roof.
Brown on the carry not going to pick up the first down I'm going to bring up fourth and one on the carry number 23.
John Brown.
Coach Calhoun, you expect that he's going to go for it right here.
The way his offense is playing, they have all the momentum in this situation, this in that area of the field that is too far for a field goal.
Try, as you can see, keeping the offense out on the field, sitting in Jaiden Fowler as an extra tight end.
Yeah, this would be a 52 yard kick for the very good Brett Fitzgerald and he might be able to hit a 52 yarder but might be stretching his limit right there.
It's fourth down and one they keep the offense on the field from the 35 and a timeout it's going to be called by Milton Milton knocking that is their first charge timeout of the half.
So let's take a look at the break to pass management keys to the game when Colquitt County is on offense taking care of the football that's their biggest job the way they can score it's all about not getting Milton the ball, not throwing interceptions, not fumbling ball and for this Milton defense stick with the game plan that's what their coach being Reed's wants them to understand it's more of a fourth quarter mentality you're going to take some blows but can you keep rolling and make plays So stick to the game plan they've come up with?
Don't get rattled and start trying to play zero ball.
If you get behind when we have 202 yards of total offense already in the first quarter combined between these two teams, call could have gone for 138 Milton 64.
But we said we had the Thanksgiving recipe for him tonight.
We had a whole bunch of receivers and two talented quarterbacks to be able to deliver the ball.
Both offensive lines are solid, not necessarily the biggest, but they are solid.
They play well as a unit and I think both coaches knew that coming into this game.
It could be one of those offensive nights where you have to put up 3540 points to win.
Ben Reaves felt like the winning score would be in the forties tonight and we could be headed in that direction.
But right now, Colquitt County on top, the Rex snap looks like it's going to go to dish on Brown and brown looking for a place to run to.
And he did not get it according to the spot right here on fourth and one looks like he's going to be about a foot short.
He's got to move the sticks for the Packers.
So they're going to give it the first down.
I thought, at least according to our line, that he hadn't gotten there, but apparently he did.
They spotted at the 34.
So that goes for two yards.
So first and ten from the 34 as Brown picks up the first down.
Fan got a safety valve over here in the running back and Misty Dennis was standing there he was the safety valve on the play and it's thrown incomplete Good coverage on the back end for Milton.
Right.
There's just nowhere to go with that ball.
Tried to get it out on the edge late too Dennis Good protection by the old line.
Really no pressure his face That's something Milton in this defensive line they came in with a shorter quarterback.
You want to push the pocket, make him have to scramble and find lanes for the offensive line.
And Colquitt is doing a good job so far protecting second down and ten ball at the 34 line to gain the 24 and the handoff to Sean Brown He gets stopped right there at the line of scrimmage number 22 man things really physical out there I saw Colquitt county player take a swing at a milton player over on the far side and I don't know if the Milton player did something to precipitate that and if we're going to get off setting or not.
But it clearly looked like a Colquitt player took a wild swing at the Milton player short game personal foul on the defense that pin every 15 yards resulting in a first down so yeah it was the Milton player who got caught the first guy there and these are the plays you can't just have in this kind of game against this kind of offense.
They, they don't need any gifts to get down the field.
You got to keep your head, keep your poise.
And that frustration, as we talked about sticking with the game plan, don't the frustration of them being able to move the ball take you out of character?
So a big 15 yard mark off going to give Colquitt County the first down at the 18 yard line.
Fans seven of 13 won 21 and a touchdown here in the first quarter under 90 seconds to play in the period fan flushed out of the pocket by too many and then too many is got him and throws him for a quarterback sack back at the 27 yard line Kaden Tamimi, the junior on the dunk blitz right up the middle the first time here he misses back and hits the ground, gets up and still gets the sack.
That's the kind of effort they're going to need.
Getting after the fan.
Nice job of hustle right there.
Running by the quarterback, missing on the initial sack, getting off the ground and getting fanned on the turf.
37th quarterback sack for this Milton defense band goes for the home run in the end zone.
Did he get his feet down incomplete.
Landon Thomas comes down with the ball but apparently he couldn't get the feet in rate coverage there by Jack Lawson.
When you talk about covering a guy like Landon Thomas that far down the field, nice job as you can see Lawson just not giving any room there at the end.
Timing up the jump didn't get the head around but time the jump with that peak body is 6219d in nowhere for Landon to land with the catch so now third and 18 from the 25 as we're down to 36 seconds to play in the quarter three handoff goes right up the middle and Ramsey Dennis down inside the 15 to the 12 and it would be nice job of reading the hole there by Dennis cutting to the backside and the play here just read option of the in and up fill right there Corey Stewart missing the tackle Dennis putting his team in a fourth is short right here and you expect the way they play offense they're going to dial it up each and every time they're inside the team might be the final play of the quarter here.
That run gave them a chance to go for it here on fourth down and the clock's going to run out in the period and that is the end of the first quarter at the Eagle's Nest in Milton, Georgia.
And a wild start to this quarter final with the Packers on top 15 to 7 Football Fridays in Georgia on GPB is brought to you in part by DB HD win by learning about safe usage of prescription opioids.

You're a go for landing over.
Buckle up, Georgia.
As we head to the second quarter here at Eagle's Nest in Milton, Colquitt County, ranked number two in the state, the number one seed coming out of region one with a 15 seven lead as we begin the second period.
And now as the period comes to a close, they take the offense off the field and they bring Brett Fitzgerald on for the field goal.
This should be a chip shot for him.
He's 14 of 16 on the season with the ball and the 48 comes from a great family of kickers.
His brother Ryan record setter with the Packers went on to kick it Florida State dad they all wear number 88 family tradition and the kick by Fitzgerald is up and good so easy kick for him gives Colquitt County an 18 to 7 lead the first play field goal of the second quarter number eight dominant quarter there by the Packers 24 total plays from Milton's seven plays and you can see it on the scoreboard up 18 to 7 he's right now this this Milton team as we talked about a fourth quarter mindset you to flush that first quarter out of your head and now get back to the Eagles kind of offense under nickel trying to work the ball down the field they have so much talent equal talent offensively when you look at this game you really feel is equal.
So they're very capable of getting back in it.
Let's take a look at the Colquitt County Packers resumé.
It's brought to you by HDD three time state champs, most recently in 2015.
Four time state runners up 13 of the last 15 seasons.
They've been to the quarter finals.
They mean for their 13th all time semifinal and their 15th ten plus win season coming this year as they are 12 and oh right now and looking to improve to 13 to no and the kick is going to bounce out of bounds.
And that's going to give Milton the option of taking the ball at the 35 yard line.
Eight.
Brett Fitzgerald fails out of bounds.
So this is a big difference by the kicking team.
That penalty will be placing the ball at the 35 yard line first down Greg Norton with the explanation.
And so Milton's going to take over the 35.
You might remember back to 2018 in the state final here on GPB, a much different as Milton tried to play a game of ball control that night and they were successful in doing so and winning the state championship that night, 14 to 13, effectively shutting down Colquitt County's high powered offense by playing ball control and keep away.
They haven't been able to do that yet here tonight, that's for certain.
As it's 18 seven, Colquitt County and the Eagles going back on offense and that is T.J. Lester on the carry and Lester's going to pick up a yard maybe 21 on the play.
Nick Pace, their leading tackler, drives him out of bounds.
But T.J. back remember, he got hurt, hurting, hurt in when we were here three weeks ago in their region.
Championship victory over Lambert.
Glad to see TJ back in the lineup.
Got a little action last week.
Expected to play a little more here in this game along with Amari Anderson and Will Stewart.
Very effective run game.
No big one guy Amari Anderson is a three star, but they as a trio are very capable of taking over the game second down and nine Amari Anderson now in there running back and he's going to get dropped That's Jim Morris Fuller, who already has an interception in this game coming up from the corner spot to make the tackle Joseph Fuller, the corner coming up, getting in the plate.
Big time pressure there in the middle by Johnny Clay, the undersized tackle to make Anderson have to bounce that to the outside.
And then Fuller comes in with the cleanup.
I was waiting to see if he were going to go there.
You really did call him Juicy.
Coach Calhoun says, I can't bring myself.
The boys call him Juicy.
I'm have to call him juice in night juice.
He comes up with the big pack, third down and nine Luke nickel pocket breaking down, gets it out of there and nearly intercepted at the 22 yard line and a flag out.
Gatling was the intended target for number one LeBron Gatling and I think that's Kamari Kamari and Williams on the coverage and I think he might have gotten a pass interference there on Gatling on that play it wouldn't be surprising as the corner went to try to intercept the ball.
Cam Williams You could see Gatling put his hands on his back.
So there are two fouls on the play holding by the offense pass interference by the offense.
Those fouls are declined fourth down.
So Colquitt County elects to have them punt it.
You see right there as Cam Williams goes to try to intercept.
Yeah Devon Gatlin says not on my watch young man Not on my watch.
Look at the size difference between Cam Williams and Brian Catlin.
But nice job right there.
Good coverage by Williams, the scrappy five seven senior Noah Wiser on the punt lets it fly kick coming down at the 30 to take it on the fly Nice return up to the 47 yard line by Javaris Fuller number 21 and there is a flag out on the field 32 yard plug by wiser 15 yard return by Fuller.
Let's check the call from Greg Naughton during the return.
We have a block in the back by the receiving team that penalty ten yards from the spot of the foul.
First down, we spotted the foul and see where that's going to put it looks like the spot of the foul was the 36.
The foul.
So that wipes out was a pretty good return on the 20 and ball is now back at the 26 national so Packers back on offense already up by 11 points and we're still early in the second quarter here Newton defense you saw on that last drive coming with some pressure you start to see these linebackers Brant Lawson too many starting to play down He'll run blitzing trying to get some pressure getting ECOFIN off of his spot and off goes to Deshaun Brown and Brown's going to get to the 31.
He picks up five on the plays.
Pretty much been Deshaun Brown carrying the ball so far in this game.
They've got a nice combo of Brown and Dennis, two juniors who virtually had the same stats, both up over 900 yards rushing, and Coach Calhoun call them Rick and Morty.
I've never seen the show, but it puts them where they're very similar, their stats.
There's their stature, both of them a great catching the ball out of the backfield Brown eight carries 20 yards setting up a screen ball goes to Landon Thomas and Landon Thomas going to have the first down up to the 37 pass play.
Good job of showing patience by fan They're letting the D-line get some pressure on him as a shorter quarterback Very good job of him finding that throwing lane finding his big target as we talk about Landon Thomas six for four tight end screen in the middle of the field handoff goes to Brown again.
This time he gets stonewalled at the 40 yard line short gain on the play number 98 Christian hunter there in the mix Terrence Spencer the big bodies in the middle of this defense.
Nice job there by Hunter just taking up those double teams for the linebackers 612 40 freshman He's got a lot of upside just starting his high school career playing big boy seven eight football here in the quarterfinals Second down seven fan to the outside that's a first down catch by Carr stiff arm then gets driven out of bounds with a hard tackle over there on the sideline by Makai Jones.
But Nick are showing his physicality with the stiff arm 18 yard pick up.
Just stop Brown making yourself big and the talent of this young man after the catch right here, only 511 165 But we've seen him stiff arm get out of trouble Nice job after the catch by Carr again that's Ramsey Dennis on the carry Dennis down to the 38 picks up three on the play Ramsey Jr and I like the balance that the Packers are starting to show we saw in that first couple of ways they just kept throwing the ball out on the edge these runs inside you're only three or four yards but you're making these linebackers have to stay inside so you can't continue to throw the ball out on the edge.
And that means receivers go to work second down and seven they like to run the ball.
The average 206 on the ground per game fan being chased, throws and intercepted and plucked out of the air by Jack Curry Stewart at the 29 yard line and the flag down on the field.
Big time pressure off the edge by Jack Lawson forcing Nico fan to try to scramble out of pressure.
Feeling that pressure, he floated the ball up in the air and then the three star Kansas commit who's been a little banged up for his motion on the offense.
That penalty has declined.
First down to Corey Stewart, one of the top linebackers in the country, headed to Kansas, making a play for his defense.
What an athletic play by Jack Corey Stewart.
Look at him.
Just snag this ball right in the air stop say Colquitt County Drive Milton back on offense when we get back.

That's why you need a pest management to defend your home, Right.
Of the official pest control of high school football.
Welcome back to the Eagles Nest for the third round of our high school, seven eight state playoff match between Colquitt County and Milton.
Right now, Colquitt is in the lead 18 to 7.
When we talked to Coach Reaves this week, he was quick to talk about Coach Calhoun and his coaching staff, not only has he known Coach Calhoun for a long time, but he called them robots.
He said they do exactly what they're supposed to do.
They've got an elite coaching staff with an elite game plan.
Now, with that, he said schematically in seven or eight, once you've gotten that far, there's not going to be a whole lot of looks that a coaching staff doesn't have an answer for.
But when it comes to the effort, we better come with an answer and match it.
We just saw that by the Milton defenses, they take offense right now.
Thank you, Nikki.
They take over at the 29 yard line following the interception by Jake Corey Stewart, Luke Nickel two of six passing 59 yards and two interceptions in this game, dumps it off to G and Ryan G. Going to get about three on the play to the 32 yard line Good tackle there by Nick Page What a player and what a year he has had a little undersized playing that Mike position next level probably is a safety but not a job at his size making a play on a big man like Ryan G. Where he's giving up about £70 able to bring him down for that short game.
Pace has six offers, including Middle Tennessee, Georgia, Southern and Charlotte, highest ranking, a three star linebacker by ESPN Nickel to the Air finds a man open and that's C.J.
Wiley, up to the 43 yard line.
First catch of the game for Wiley.
Workout mix and bring up last slot right there C.J.
Wiley the big body six for 195.
Good protection.
Nice.
Fine right there.
Wiley Willing to take the hit.
Didn't have to take it on the air, but he ran the route.
Ran that quick slant.
Nice find there by Nicole Wiley.
Four star, 22 offers including Georgia, Michigan and Florida State.
Ironically enough, not LSU.
Gatling with the catch gets driven out of bounds at the 45 number one long throw there by.
Luke, Nick, Luke, Nicole trying to get the ball to Gatling from the other hash ball state in the air on long time here watch how long this ball stays in the air to get out to Gatling.
Nice break on the ball there by Cam Williams Cam Williams the 571 50 senior really at a disadvantage size wise against these Milton wide receivers but that's pretty much the case for Cam Williams every Friday night Nickel going to run it and Nicole lowers his shoulder We talked about that in the open he hasn't run it a lot this year, but when he does run it, he's a very physical runner, six two, £200, very capable of scrambling.
He's showing his ability to get out of the pocket.
Last time we saw him a couple of weeks ago, that was the kind of play that really sparked his team to start playing at another level when he shows that kind of grit and toughness.
So first and ten nickel going to go to the short side here in Gatling.
Again, he has been his top target tonight.
Got a big throw right there by Nichols showing you the arm strength to get that ball out to Gatling.
And it's all about the coverage.
He's reading the coverage.
If he can find that one on one matchup on the edge right there.
Nice job.
Once again, getting the ball, making somebody miss by Gatlin.
That was a ten yard pickup second down and two nickel going to run it again.
He's going to pick up the first down and more nickel through the defense and all the way down driving backwards with those legs of his through the 20 yard line.
Good job of offensive line blocking up front good pull double team blocked here by G in the left tackle rushing and then the quarterback making those kind of plays your other teammates see that that energizes them and that's what Luke Nickel was trying to do energize his offense first and ten ball at the 20 yard line nickel stands in the pocket delivers the touchdown to G the four star running down the seam Brian G six 5 to 40 going against Alfonzo McNeil.
Number 28 for the Packers.
And it's just about the size and strength right there on that route Nice job by g doesn't get a lot of balls so many other weapons but he took a big time step for his team right there on that seam route.
You have a personal foul I think down at the end I think they're going to get G for shoving at the end but what a play by him what a fine and throw by Luke nickel Ryan G committed to Auburn just two weeks ago November 12th pick the Tigers over 41 other offers including Georgia Tech and Ole Miss rated as high as a rivals four star and number ten tied in in the country.
So good for your warrior to the play unsportsmanlike conduct on the offense that penalty 15 yards for the spot of a try against the one on time down under so it's going to go against this spot of the try not the kickoff for the Eagles right here at the end of this play Ryan G. Feeling like Alfonzo McNeill is being a little extra little shove.
Not much to it.
Now.
Maybe the post up.
I'm not sure if that's the unsportsmanlike part.
Maybe it's not the show.
Maybe it's the Superman pose right there by G. So the Pat is now at 35 yard kick for Noble.
Straight on kick is still going to be good and it's 18 to 40 penalty doesn't matter extra point is good So a four point lead as Milton pulls closer with 513 to play here in the first half.
Let's take a look at the Milton Eagles resume and it is brought to you by DB HD 2018 state champions when they beat this Colquitt County program in the bench 14 to 13 2021.
They were state runners up loss to Collinsville and of course Travis Hunter and Sam Horn that night.
This is their fourth straight quarterfinal appearance.
They're gunning for their third straight semifinal appearance and this is their fourth straight ten plus win season as they are ten and two on the season.
And a good answer, good response right there by the Milton Eagles officer Corey Stewart, getting that interception on the defensive side.
He the defense getting a turnover, going down and getting points is what you need to do, putting them right back in this game.
And you might recognize the coach that stepped in there and was talking to Ryan G, one of the most famous wide receivers in Georgia Bulldogs history, recently inducted into the Georgia High School Football Players Hall of Fame back in October.
Terrence Edwards, he's the wide receivers coach or at least one of them here at Milton Kick taken at the goal line.
They're going to rule that a touchpad touchpad on the football is going to come out the window.
Athlete Terrance Edwards and his brother, which is Robert.
Yes.
Covered Edwards, which is Feast of Football Players.
And he's definitely been a key factor in this receiving corps with so much talent to work with and nurturing, compassionate.
And so Colquitt County goes back on offense.
Now their lead cut to four little wild games, 32 total points already restoration in less than 20 minutes on the game clock we go Sam hitting the field after that turnover Kenny bounce back you expect as a senior and the way he's been able to control the field so far in this game he will Deshawn Brown takes the ball on the catch and out of bounds at the 30 That'll be a first down number 23 talking tough about how they show and Brown and his running mate Ramsey Dennis a very good catching the ball out of the backfield as a combo at times he looked like your slot receiver there Very good out in space good hands by both the ball goes out on the edge to Marquise Wilson and Wilson's going to have the first down couple of quick passes by Nico fan and the Packers move the ball quickly up close to the 50 yard line.
So this earlier in the game, getting the ball up very quickly to Wilson Dillon Lewis.
The big tight end is right here.
Securing that block right there is the key to that plate, keeping that cornerback back pinned down and not able to get back in to make the play.
That's key.
BLOCK by Dillon move Landon Thomas Sean Brown Deshawn Brown on the carry reaches the 50 so that's going to be a four yard pick up about 40 yards on the play They'll bring up second and six that Colquitt County offensive line really did not solidify until Khalil Collins by Milton number 50 came back from his illness.
He got diagnosed during summer camp.
He missed the first six games of the season, had an illness that was zapping him of his energy.
They run a screen to Zay Williams.
There he goes.
Touchdown.
Kaufman County.
But you make a great play this time here once again by the offensive coordinator John Cooper.
Quick screen out on the edge offensive line letting the D lines through here, left side, left guard, left tackle center there.
Get out in the passing lane.
Zay Williams, as we said, Vic, senior year coming underneath and this young man out in space, he's as dangerous as nigh Carr is as well.
510 168 The X Factor Zay Williams there on that wide receiver screen.
Quick screen on out on the edge so the lead goes right back to ten very quickly Milton players shaken up on the play get that looks like Caleb Bell got shaken up on the play look like number 15 and beautifully executed great blocking and once he cleared the first seven yards it was gone.
Great job Daniel selling the screen to the and he's alone Kahlil Collins and Jayden Williams getting out in the open space sometimes as a offensive lineman, when you don't find somebody to block, you feel like you're in trouble that time.
Just the talent of Williams getting out getting that ball and getting up field showing you the speed for the touchdown.
Colquitt County's governor's red ribbon campaign scoring drive for plays and 80 yards.
And it didn't take them long at all.
So Fitzgerald back on there for another pat attempt and try to make it an 11 point lead again which he does.
25 oh 1411 point lead say Williams big game for him four offers including southern Illinois and he's had a big big first half for the Packers as he takes it to the House football Friday's in Georgia on GPB is brought to you in part by Georgia's EMC so much more than electricity.

Three for 17 left here in the first half in a 2514 lead for Colquitt County.
Explosive offense from Packers.
But we knew that coming in this is a team averaging 44.6 points per game.
They have not scored less than 35 points in any games this season.
They've gone 40 plus four times and 50 plus four more times.
So deep, especially in the receiving corps, five different receivers have caught the ball for them out on the edge.
And you could see with their quarterback, as we've talked about, small in stature, but he has been playing as well at that position as anybody in the state for their team coming down at the four yard line.
Easley on the return athlete changes hands as he gets in traffic and returns it up to the 30 yard line.
And so that's where the Eagles will go back on offense.
27 yard return by Mark Astley, whose main contribution so far tonight has been in the kick return game.
They haven't been able to get him the ball on the offensive side so far in this game.
Luke Nickel really trying to find burn Gatling got a couple of balls out to wildly and that last drive really got to filling like those couple of quarterback draws in the way Luke Nickel finished those runs seem to add a little extra to the O-line and the other guys on that offense.
So you expect even in this drive to continue to run Luke Nickel and those opportunities, especially when he sees the coverage rolled over to Brian Gatlin.
So first and ten ball is at the 32 yard line make that the 31 yard line The Eagles who were back on offense down 11 again and nickel in trouble gets away from the pressure throws it and completes it.
Did he get his feet down?
No, he did not.
Gatling came back to help out.
Nicole Bass made the catch but couldn't get the feet down.
Tyshawn Reed coming with the pressure.
We haven't talked about him so far in the game.
They're coming underneath the tackle.
Missing on the sack.
Luke Nickel showing you the strip right there, jumping up in the air to try to bring that down to Brian Gatling.
Maybe better just standing on the sideline trying and staying on the ground.
I think once he jumped, it allowed the cornerback to push him out of bounds.
I would say Boris Fuller, who came up with the fine play on that end of the play and the ball goes to Gatlin and that might be a flag.
You see Ben Reed looking for the flag.
The folks here at Milton looking for a flag as Fuller took him out of bounds into the ground, out of bounds.
Juicy, Fuller, this battle between Gatling and Fuller out on the edge.
Good protection, Nice ball there.
Good route by Gatling.
And right here, Gatling is already out of bounds.
Very surprised.
There is no foul on that play.
So first and from the 41 nickel goes to Gatling again.
And they are really picking on Fuller over there with Gatling and Gatling, just as his coach, Ben Reeves had predicted, is having a big game tonight.
And this is against double coverage right there.
They're playing him with Fuller and McNeil, but he's running nose out routes, ball behind, still adjusting his body to make that catch.
And as you can see, Juicy Fuller, the Corner 21 is playing off of Gatling and he's going to play 1012 yards off the line of scrimmage.
They're going to work that all night long, second down, and one Fuller goes in the middle, this time in off the hands of Lee at the 46 pass intended for number two Mark brings up third down and one he's going to bring up third down and one he did go offensive coordinator Steve Jackson.
You expect in this situation based on the box Nick was showing you he can't run this ball and just try to get this first down nickel nine of 15 for 125 two touchdowns and those two interceptions Ball goes to Gatling again that'll a first down is Fuller getting on the ground at the 46 and that is a six catch for Gatling here in this first half and this is designed this is got these two players being on the same page.
It's about Luke Vickers getting up to the line of scrimmage.
He's looking at the corner.
He's seeing this off coverage.
It is eight, 12 yards that Fuller is giving him and he is just going to feast on those quick stop routes and out routes all night long.
Yeah, until they play a tighter coverage that that seven eight yards is there on every play Gatlin running to go route runs by Fuller and oh cannot run under the inside the goal inside the end zone took a pass intended for number one this is all about Luke Nichols compliments that my player is better than your player double coverage airing it out down the field to Brian Catling just couldn't corral it in did get a step there on the corner just could not bring ball in.
Yeah he had Fuller beat on that play and it's going to be second down and ten.
So far on this drive.
Each play has been a pass play here by this offense, spreading them out, trying to work the ball down the field quickly has been nickel second down and ten ball at the 46 now Nichols going to run it and Nichols going to fall forward to the 42 yard line.
Stick around.
Coming up at halftime, Jon Nelson and Hannah Goodin back in our GPB studios with all the scores and highlights from around the state.
Look at the brackets, too, as we are in the round of champions round to beat.
This is the first time where region champions get matched up against each other as we have it here tonight.
And that's why we call it the round of champions.
And then we'll spread three by one formation here by Nicole reading the box it on the last play, Run the ball third down and six from the 41 ball goes to G and he'll have the first down and Nick the pass gets taken down by McNeal at the 30 but that moves the sticks for the Eagles number one nice throwing catch here by Ryan and she and Nicole they were just able to tidy it out in a flat big body as you can see.
So impressive with the size 65 to 40 is G. Learning how to block that is being key to his this year he's blocking little better still has a couple of steps to go in that area but what a prospect he is as a junior and a timeout it's going to be called Colquitt by Colquitt County was their first charge sign out of bounds and that'll leave them with two in the half.
Sean Calhoun wants to rally his defense.
You saw him clapping his hands as they came to the huddle.
And this game has materialized into the offensive shootout that we thought it would be.
And what's interesting here is if Milton can time this and play this right and take it all the way down to the end, get a score, they get the kick off to start the second half.
So that would give them theoretically and no doubt, Ben Reeves is thinking that right now we get a score here into the half leave Colquitt County no time we get the ball to start the third quarter, gives them a chance to jump into the lead.
And what no doubt looks like a seesaw game.
And they're showing great patience in this drive by taking what the defense is giving on these routes.
If you're going to play by receivers, especially Ryan G. And Gatling.
So I'm just going to take the six yards and keep a drive going.
I want to end the half anyway with the ball, but being patient has been the key and Luke Nickel is working the ball down the field.
So first and ten ball, the 34 for the Eagles and nickel going to run it after faking the pass to Gatling picks up another first down down to the 21 yard line and that's that football IQ we talk Luke right there did like Scott Brown on the edge right there saw the safety rolling over to come underneath under that route, decided to pull the ball down and get great yardage first and ten approaching 90 seconds left in the first half.
Nick I'm going to run it again.
And Nicole bowling his way down to the 13 yard line once again, reading made by number 40 that Devon Gatling is bracketed, this time over there by Kam Williams and Cuonzo a big deal.
And this Colquitt County defense on the back end.
They're not hiding that he's rolled over he's literally two players are covering LeBron Gatling that time once again nickel not liking the coverage pick the ball deciding to run and showing you his ability to be mobile second down and two nickel going to run it again.
He's got the first down as he leans his body inside the ten to the nine and a half quarterback look and no one would ever call nickel a dual threat quarterback.
But at this level he is yeah this film and his as you said big kid 6 to £200 very capable and this is just all about a light box and salt coverage on the back end Kyle coverage by the secondary and him being smart enough to take advantage of it.
Luke Nickel now has six carries for 54 yards Anderson and Lester the running backs a combined four carries for 12 yards and while the offensive coordinator Steve Jackson continues until Colquitt County changes their coverage for that formation, as you can see, the last four plays he's been in the same formation and they're just taking advantage if they're going to stay there, make the smart decision.
He's not in RPO because there's nobody here in the backfield.
It's just him being smart with the football.
Jeremy Role, the defensive coordinator for Colquitt County, I dare say there's not many, if any, defensive coordinators in Georgia high school football with his kind of resume.
He's been a college football defensive assistant coach at Troy at Georgia Southern for many, many, many years now working with Sean Calhoun here.
And it's first down and goal as they spread the field 48 seconds to play in the half as shifts to the left nickel nickel just going to run behind cut it up in there and score the touchdown and the loop nickel drive right here in the last couple of plays.
Five Milton once again setting the formation, this time on the left side of the field, same formation as the previous three plays.
Checking out the Gatling doesn't like the throw.
Once again, pulling the ball down following his big tight end right there into end zone.
That's just his fourth rushing touchdown of the season.
We've seen two of them.
We saw him do it against Lambert.
We saw him here.
The going for to try to make it a field goal game.
Are you a little surprised they're chasing the I about out they're going for the two right here you've got to be aggressive If you Coach Brees you got to feel like hey I at some point I got to make up that stagger and this is a great place to do it.
Yeah and you know what?
The more I think about it, it just totally makes sense.
I mean, a five point deficit, a four point deficit, it's really all the same.
So why not go for the two and make it three?
You're not risking a whole lot because four and five in the scheme of the scoreboard is virtually the same number and you get the ball in the start the second half.
But the team right now in the groove in the way that Nick has been able to run the ball, read the defense, everything is in your favor right here to try to go for his two point conversion.
You saw the 11 play, 69 yard drive, three and a half minutes, the best, most well executed drive of the night for the Milton Eagles offense showed a lot of patience in that drive.
You have success on the play.
You expect the defense is going to make an adjustment.
So in your mind you're going to have to do something different.
The next play call Quick County defense did not change their game plan.
That whole drive and Luke Nickel took advantage of it.
So they stayed lined up for the two.
I wouldn't be surprised.
Nicole just follows G again, going to roll out and throw it complete two point conversion, two point conversion attempt by ball goes to Tristan Page and Nicole.
And in 2522 what a half.
Great job of C.J.
Wow.
Page receiving corps makes of selling the route not getting called for pick turned around didn't put his body on anybody picking this the corner trying to get on Payne nice route by paying great delivery of the ball by Nicole Yeah don't head to the refrigerator just yet 42 seconds left for Colquitt County.
We saw them scored their first touchdown in 43 seconds.
So golf with Gowdy not done with the half yet by any means.
And they do have one timeout remaining.
So just hold on before you head off anywhere.
Get off the sofa because the Packers getting ready to get the ball back.
They weren't quite successful Milton in walking it all the way down to zero and they certainly have left time on the clock here for Baldwin You know we're going to kick off kick coming down at the three and that's Fuller on the return and he returns it out to the yard line number 21, 27.
So they've got Bob Milton, number three, 73 yards to go for the touchdown, but probably they probably need only about 30 yards to be in field goal range for Fitzgerald.
You expect it to come out the way that April fan is going to be to read the defense get the ball out.
They're going to try, especially here on this first play something down the field, see if they can get a big chunk play.
They're lining up in formation to take the half dough.
I'm really surprised that.
Wow, You surprised they take a knee, right?
Very surprising.
Especially Milton only has one timeout.
You expect first down.
They were going to try something down the field, especially when you got a weapon like Fitzgerald.
He kicked a 48 yarder.
You got to go.
Wow.
I'm really surprised that they didn't go, oh, massively.
And try to get some more points here, especially when you got a kicker like Fitzgerald, you all you need to do is maybe get it to the 33 yard line on the other side, but that's the end of the half and Colquitt County on top 2522 ticks down on this to go to the court halftime on the Eagles and it's close to counting five oh no involved.
All right tonight's halftime coach's interview with Sean Calhoun is brought to you by Johnny's New York style Pizza, your original neighborhood pizzeria.
Coach, walk me through it real quick.
You just took a knee.
What was the decision behind that?
Just just get out of half.
We've had so many self-inflicted wounds.
I got a lot more gray hair than I did before this game kicked off.
We just we want to make things so difficult if we just the call, execute the call, know how to line up, stop jumping offsides.
I mean, it's a really good team.
And when you don't do those things properly, it's a it's a three point game and.
They get the ball to start the second half.
I was going to say, yes, Milton, they are closing the gap quickly on your team gave up the touchdown your last defensive possession also two points.
What's the message to your defense as Milton gets the ball in the second half to play our ball and when we don't play our ball is going to drive it right down the score.
They're their super talented and really good and we are too, when we get the call and execute it.
I mean, it's just it's as simple as that.
Georgia head coach, good luck in the second.
Thank you very much.
Go back to Go pack.
All right.
Football Fridays in Georgia.

What do you think, Jasper?
Honestly, I think that it's just the shirts thinking you're going to what?
I think I would have been a better choice because.
I don't know.
Yeah, it's come a long way, you know?
Nowadays, Cotton agrees.
And what's more great was buying cotton supporting Georgia farmers.
I think it's one.
Okay, sure.
But what do you think about the part?
Oh, yes.
Really?
And Tarmac Tarmac.
Kids have been through a lot over the past few years.
Remote learning, missing activities, traumatic events, and it's affecting their mental health.
These issues are more common than most people realize.
So it's important that parents and teachers know the signs.
Today, we are joined by Tara Jackson from Cigna Health Care, who will share what to watch out for and how to help your teen.
Tara, why is it so important to recognize and promote teen mental health?
Teen mental health issues are on the rise, especially since the start of the pandemic.
We're also seeing a huge increase in suicide, especially in young people.
Statistics show here in Atlanta, 60% of teens report stressor and suffering with school.
A lot of them can't even recognize that they have mental health issues or even know how to seek help.
What are some of those warning signs in teens that may indicate they're struggling with mental health?
Some of the general warning signs is just being aware of your children's surroundings, understanding if they're having cognitive issues, if they're having sleep issues, anxiety.
Are they hanging around the same friend group, you know, and watch for concerning posts on social media if they're expressing concerns of hurting themselves and things that they're posting on the Internet?
How can we support our teen's mental during this tough time?
It's essential to be open and honest with your teens, letting them know that you are resourced as their parent.
You're here to listen and open to understand any anxieties, anything that they may be feeling.
I don't have teens yet, but I will one day.
So this is so important.
I'm taking notes.
Tara, thank you so much for being here.
And if you would like to learn more, please go to Cigna dot com during halftime show presented by Regions.
Get back in the game with Regions Bank that's Don Nelson I'm Hannah Goodin It's halftime of the seven eight quarterfinal match up between Colquitt County and Milton Packers are leading 2522.
And John this one started out with Colquitt county scoring in the first 43 seconds plus the two point conversion.
It's been back and forth.
What are your thoughts?
My thoughts are we're going to be here a while.
It's going to be a long night.
It's a fun of football here with these two teams.
We figured it was going to be a lot of offense.
Both coaches thought it was going to be a game in the forties.
We're halfway there already.
I think we're going to hit the forties early.
Part of the third quarter.
Hannah I think we're going to be here for a while.
It's going to be a fun with a lot of talent on the field tonight.
Ten players on both teams well combined are committed to D-1, but what about the kids that are under looked when it comes to recruiting?
John let's take it to make that didn't offer this week we start with Harrison County senior athlete Jayden Jackson.
He ended the regular season with three sacks, 28 tackles and, seven tackles for loss at defensive end and punter, the multi-sport athlete is a part of the Bears and AEW track and field teams throwing shotput and discus.
He's also medaled in Junior Olympics for basketball.
Next up is Callaway senior athlete Cam Tucker.
He said to be one of the most talented players the Cavaliers have seen in the past few years.
His best performance this season was against Providence Christian, where he accounted for 200 yards of total offense with five touchdowns and nine three tackles for loss and two and a half sacks.
And finally, Thomas County Central senior tight end Ryan McDowell needs an offer.
He's fast, clocking a 4.9 40 yard dash.
He also has a 3.68 and has maintained his scholar athlete status all four years with the Yellowjackets.
We have one more week for make that can offer.
So follow us on social media at GPB Sports to get on our final blog post and video.
Next week.
We'll also be displaying some of during the championships as well.
Okay, It's time to take a quick look around the rest of the state on Georgia's EMC scoreboard, Georgia's ANSYS.
It's so much more than electricity and we've got some wild ones on the board already.
John, let's start with Walton versus Carrollton in seven eight.
This is a rematch of the 2020 two quarter finals.
The Trojans won, but Juju Lewis been slowed down a bit tonight.
Walton leading by one score.
That one is in the second quarter.
Others on the board from a lot of folks are saying this is the best defense in a decade.
They've shut down Thomas county central by four at the break Creekside winning on the road at the Mac north, the county in benedictine.
That one's heading to the third quarter.
Benedictine leading by a point Paige to Cedar Grove winning on road Fitzgerald and Callaway rematch of a title game a couple of years ago.
No surprise that one's close.
Albert County in Waynesboro.
That one's heading to the fourth quarter.
They'll be done.
They'll be eating their postgame meal by the time ours is done.
Manchester and Clinch, I can update that score.
17 seven Clinch County 320 to go on the third and you better hit the siren because got something going on in Gwinnett County, Camden leading Mill Creek in seven, a heading to the fourth by one score 2417 mill Creek starts the fourth quarter at the Camden 23.
This would be seismic in seven A if Camden County holds on a lot more game left to play, John.
So we will see who has the fourth quarter battle coming up.
All right.
We have to take a quick break.
But coming up next, it's for you.
Save it Pharmacy Georgia player spotlight.
You don't want to miss it, sweetheart.
Please don't forget to wear your.
I got it, Mom.
It's a nice day right in your stomach.

The importance of Joshua's wall is that we give our young drivers in the state of Georgia classroom experience with a instructor to stress to them how dangerous driving can be and how important driving is to our everyday lives that we have to do it but do it safely.
We're looking for the center, the car to get in that corner of the spot and we're going to stop when we're driving.
We never want to affect other drivers.
So I tell them at a stop sign, don't don't pull out.
If you're going to affect that other person.
So let's go to the to the stoplight there to make sure we're good left and right.
Continue on.
If I ask myself that question every time I drive, then the traffic flow never stops.
Everybody is safe.
Everybody get to where they're going safely when they know the speed limit on the roadway.
What is it, 45, 45.
Good job.
The importance of coming to a driver's education program is invaluable, but in my opinion, the most important thing is that the parent gets out and works with that child.
That one on one training and giving experience is is really where we learn how to drive.
I would rather experience that with my child so I can coach them through it before they experience it on their own without me being there.
It's very important to me as a father, as an instructor.
Great job.
Great job.

It's time for the you say the pharmacy Georgia player spotlight and this week we are track and field star Marian Wright I just 16 years old she broke a Georgia high school record for the 300 meter hurdles.
Here's her story.
And Marianna first started running track.
I knew that she would excel in the sport because of character.
There was only an eighth grader that was running faster than her.
Her first year out on the track, never running before.
And so that's kind of what I've forgotten.
Oh, she's pretty good at that.
She's Olympic bound.
I mean, right now they're her age in a day age, she's better than a lot of those that age.
She is now in my mind, I know that I'm constantly racing against the clock.
The time matters more than.
The competition really.
She's also the only sophomore ranked top ten nationally.
I think we'll see her on the Olympics.
One day.
So keep up the good work, Marianna, and thank you to you.
Save it pharmacy.
We have to do one more quick break.
But coming up next, we will go through brackets vagina and head to Milton with Nikki.
Stick with us.

That's Why?

Right.

Welcome back to the region's halftime show.
If you're just now joining us here at halftime of the seven eight quarterfinal between Colquitt County and Milton Packers, up 2522.
Let's head to the Eagle's Nest, where Nicki is standing by with one of my old college buddies.
Thanks, Hannah.
I'm actually hanging out with the familiar face from your Ole Miss days.
And Corey, Keith, I heard you guys had some broadcast journalism classes together, but now you're the athletic director at Milton High School.
Let's get right to it.
How amazing is it for your program, not only hosting the first round, but also the third round of the state playoffs right now?
I mean, you just look at the crowd and you look at the people and the atmosphere.
It's totally different.
Right?
And that's why you play.
That's what you want your athletes to see in front of.
When you see crowds like this and you get the good folks in Moultrie coming up here.
I mean, that's why if you're going to be the best, you've got to beat the best.
And we are.
We see that challenge head on.
So we love it.
Absolutely.
And Cockrell County, I mean, they're ranked pretty high in the rankings.
So we know that they brought a travel bus.
So there's a lot of cool, quick Packer fans here, too, which can be intimidating for the Eagles Nest.
But nonetheless, this is your first year and your decision as athletic director.
What are you learning?
What are you implementing?
Tell us what's going on in your role at Milton High School.
You know, they told me it would be like drinking from a fire hose, and that is pretty true.
There's not a whole lot of training you get for this job.
So it's really all about good help and straight up from the top.
My admin are custodians, you know, my assistant adds those are the people that have really been the ones who run the show.
I mean, make no mistake about it.
Without them, I couldn't do any of this.
And more than anything else, I just wanted to be present.
You know, we've got two dozen sports here.
So just beyond football, you know, I went to my first swim meet the other day.
That was a first for me.
I had a coach give me a kind of a cheat sheet.
Show me, Hey, this is what you're watching.
I'll say, That was totally helpful, but it's been great just to see our athletes in all sports put on the red, white and blue and wear Milton across their chest.
That's awesome to me.
That's awesome.
Corey I'm sure you're going to do a phenomenal job now, since you studied broadcast journalism, I'm going to have you send it back to your pal Hannah in the studio.
All right.
Hannah We'll do like the old days.
Back to you in the studio.
I nailed it.
Think Good.
It looks like those journalism classes paid off for that interview, right?
Great stuff, guys.
Get all of the talking points.
I know.
And thanks, Nick.
Okay, Let's take a look at the seven age bracket.
The winner of our game will be playing the winner of Buford versus Grayson.
John, tell us what's going on in the class right now.
Halfway through the third quarter, upper right with Buford and Grayson.
Grayson leading that 113 seven.
Buford has just missed a 42 yard field goal.
That one is still in play.
Carrollton and Walton keeping an eye on that one.
That one is back and forth.
Second quarter Walton, leading Carrollton by the score of 2821.
Looks like both engines are warming up on those teams and I saved low left for last for a reason because seriously, you may as well just hit the siren again.
We're going to be keeping an eye on this one.
All night long.
And the reason I say that is Camden County, with eight and a half minutes to go was up 3120.
They've now added a safety under 8 minutes to go.
Camden County, the only unranked team in the GPB top teens in the seven age bracket right now has a 13 point lead on Mill Creek with 8 minutes to go.
That would be seismic for the seven age bracket.
I'm going to try to keep John from falling at it, Not going to have some sort of like hook to keep you in this game will get me out of my chair.
Trust me.
Okay.
That is just a little taste of what's to come join us for the postgame show where we go through all the brackets and talk to head coaches as they come off the field.
We'll see who is heading to the semis.
The road to the championship is well under way.
Follow us on Social at GPB Sports for all of the high school football news.
Thanks for watching the halftime show.
More from Matt and Nick next.

Oh, my.
Oh, what a bad call.
We have no business being out there.
You know, I'm a person to be.
Kennesaw State University.
Welcome back.
2522 Colquitt County on top of Milton here at halftime.
Tonight's halftime coach's interview brought you by Johnny's New York style Pizza, your original neighborhood pizzeria.
Nicky down there with coach been reached.
All right, coach you close the gap within three this week when we talked, you said we're going to have a four quarter mindset.
How do you continue with that mentality in the second half?
We just we do what we said we're going to do all week and nothing gets us down.
Nothing gets us discouraged.
They've had a lot of big plays and it's fine because it's going to come down to the last minute in this game and we're going to keep fighting, keep clawing back and just see what we're eating that last minute and see what the result is.
Well, the last minute of the first half, we saw it touchdown.
We saw two point conversion.
The confidence in your team.
We love to see that.
How do you just take off when you get the ball back in the second half?
Well, you know, our offensive coaches have done a great job of just coming up with a good scheme.
So we'll come out and see what their answers are and we're just going to continue what we've done, what we've prepared for, what we planned for, and go out there and execute it.
And like I said, see what happens whenever that clock hit zero.
Having a little ping pong match down here.
Matt.
Good luck, coach.
All right.
Thank you, Nick Wayne, Let's take a look at those first half highlights.
And Karl Cook County came out swinging the pass completion to Zay Williams set him up for their first touchdown.
Jay Williams, who had a big first half getting down the field out in the open field to set up this touchdown here, run by Deshawn Brown, five yard touchdown run by Brown.
They went for two right here say Williams little trick eration toss the pass tonight Carr eight nothing lead in less than one minute but here comes Milton and that's Luke Nickel completing the ball to Darren Gamblin and he went to the end zone big time play there from nickel to Gatling And then this man right here Niko fan small in stature with a big arms airing it out down the field tonight.
Carr That was a 59 yard completion It was capped on the touchdown toss to Landon Thomas six yards 15 seven and then nickel again to Ryan Gee trying to keep pace getting the ball to Ryan Gee to set up the touchdown and then say Williams with the screen play underneath showing you the speed putting Colquitt County back on the board and back ahead again that went for 50 yards at that point it's 2514 final minute of the half and Luke nickel using his legs on this drive powers into the end zone they go for two and convert 2522 as we take a look at the halftime stats Wayne what jumps out at you when you look at the first it's a balanced game you can see why both teams 14 first downs neither team really able to run the ball.
Milton's rush yards really been on the legs of nickel on that one drive but both quarterbacks are in a groove if anything Colquitt County with the six penalties for 75 yards need to clean that up but this second half match is going to be about defense can make some adjustments to try to slow down come up with some interceptions and fumbles something they had a couple of those in the first half, but both quarterbacks playing very well and both offenses are really surprised.
We haven't had more rushing yards tonight.
In fact, the most effective rusher has been Luke Nickel, the quarterback.
Yeah he's on an in that was on that one drive where he ran about four of the five last plays to score that touchdown.
But neither set of backs in both teams kind of running back by committee have been able to solidify that part of the game.
So as we mentioned, the Eagles will get the ball to start the third quarter.
So this is their first opportunity really on a possession to jump into the lead and we'll see if they're able to do that, as Fitzgerald has it teed up and ready to go.
Our second half kickoff is brought to you by up Georgia.
Buckle up.
Georgia, seat belt, save lives number 88 freshman Caroline.
And the opening kickoff is going to be non returnable.
They're going to let him grow.
They're going to let him bring it out from the goal line asleep.
This early out across the 25 yard beats a man initially all the way up to the 36 yard line.
What a return.
And we have a flag down on the field.
Roderick Carter making the tackle maybe a touchdown, saving that for Rodrick Carter Mark s Lee showing he was going to let the ball pull him into the end zone during the return holding by not out on the receiving team that pin be ten yards to the spot of the foul pass down flag on the play.
They have a man down for Colquitt County as well at the 15 yard line got hurt on the return it's like that left arm got pull back step and you know this is a great reason why this is the second player that we've seen, a second Colquitt County player that we've seen get hurt on a kickoff return.
And this is why football across the board taking measures really to kind of take the kickoff return out of the game.
It's the most violent play, most dangerous play in is where I have to admit, I sustained my first concussion on the kickoff return back.
We used to set the wedge when I was a young player and you don't know the pace of the game.
It's not about size.
It's about someone you from an angle that you didn't see.
And good to see this player here getting up Trenton Dunbar.
That's their starting safety.
So they've lost two starting safeties on kick coverage teams.
Remains to be seen.
Hopefully Dunbar can get back in the game, but Flip got hurt.
You know, in the opening minutes of the game.
And I don't know that we have seen him out there since that injury.
I think they pretty much rolled with McMillan at that spot.
So first and ten for the Eagles and the ball back in the ten yard line, the nickel going to throw out of his own zone, complete to Gatling and Gatling stutter step steps out of bounds.
That'll be a first down.
Out of the 23 Gatling just feasted tonight like a run on sentence here.
This play has been there all night for Devon Gatling, Brooks Nichols just showing a go route and stopping there in front of Cam Williams, picking up a first down.
And that play is what really has gotten him back in this game, being patient and taking those eight, ten yards.
And they're going to play in that soft coverage first and ten Anderson on the carry Anderson up to the 27 yard line and similar to Colquitt County and as we talked about with these worms, that's a great run for what you want to do tonight.
They're trying to play spread.
You get those five people in the box, you've got to be able to run the ball four or five on fourth down.
So that's a good run there by the Eagles.
That was just the fourth carry of the night for Anderson and try to bounce it outside.
Not going to be able to McNeill comes up from that safety spot and submarines him nice job the point right here in the middle of the screen Mark Wilson holding that point, making Anderson bounce that to the outside.
Nice job coming up there McNeil from that star position to make that play.
Oh looks like they've got Will and Madison playing on the safety spot.
They got McNeil, as you mentioned he's also a backup safeties playing the star position They pick him up coming off the edge and the pass is incomplete for Gatling Cam Williams covered him that time he plays that time tight coverage Cam Williams being able to get out of that break, get back in the play and pushing out of the pocket.
There was Nichols just not able to find got it Looks like they flipped the coverage, too.
They brought Kamari Williams Cam Williams over here to the right side.
And now they have Javaris Fuller playing the left side.
This is only going to be the second pot and they're going to fake it right up the middle and pick up the first down and more.
How about that on the fake AJ Benton, the linebacker takes the snap and runs it for the first down three great execution in the offensive line there pulling Ryan G with a good block there as well as hey Tim Miller he is making a good block on that play as well AJ Fenton getting the ball, getting upfield, getting the first down ten yard pick up and a great job by Noa Wiser the punter to sell it to at their own 37 So first and ten ball at the 37 how about that for roll of the dice fake punt in your own in the nickel going to run and run right into Nick Pace really nice job of slicing underneath Nick Pace that tweener playing on that Mike hybrid safety job reading You can show a little frustration on that hit right there.
Luke Nickel has made a lot of good yards tonight running that quarterback draw.
Nick Pace finally getting shot on and bringing him down.
Sean Calhoun says Nick pays plays with a speed and physicality that I've never seen before.
He had to get a new helmet.
He busted helmet.
He hit so hard they had to go off and send it off and get it fixed.
Team leading 139 tackles on the season coming into the game.
Nickel going to run it again.
There's Nick Pace.
Nick Nick will have to really this time it wasn't Nick Pace that got him on the it was Amari Wilson who was pulled over by the right guard and that moans the kick out BLOCK went with that quarterback draw again this time getting out on the edge, getting outside of Amari Wilson, able to pick up seven yards on that play, third down and three nickel nine carries 70 yards.
This will be his 10th rush.
It's a first down and more nickel run it hard all the way down to the 29 yard line on the way.
This has to be to me be the story of the game offensive quarterback draw once again, setting the tempo Nice kickoff BLOCK Ryan G on the end, Luke Nickel running behind his pad reading the block here and you just love as all fans and as a team the way he has finished some of these runs from that quarterback position showing a lot of grit and toughness fighting for those extra yards.
That was a 27 yard run.
Now ten carries for 97 yards.
Going to throw it quickly in the middle It's caught touchdown Payne Milton on top for the first time tonight.
Tristan fan has been coming on late in the season this time working out of the slot running of Quinn's slant brick drop there getting the ball breaking the tackle there of Will Mattison as we talked about Dunbar and flea arrow the two starting safeties have been banged up and out of the game.
McNeil and Mattison having the feeling nice job of breaking that tackle by Tristan pain of Will Madsen to get in for the touchdown and a four point lead for the Eagles.
Another touchdown for Luke Nicholas third of the night Eagles on top 2925 Football Fridays in Georgia on GPB is brought to you in part by Cigna Health Care.

Every trip, every time.
A message from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety Academy.
Welcome back to the Eagle's Nest.
Milton takes the lead over Colquitt County.
The score right now is 29 to 25.
Coach Reed's just came over to on the sideline.
He said Black Friday to me.
And what that means is this week, you know, Matt Wayne, when we caught up with Coach Reed's, I said, Look, Black Friday, that's the game you're playing around three matchup in.
So if I'm watching Milton for the first time, who am I buying?
Who am I placing my buy on?
And coach was very quick.
He said, Tristen Payne.
He said he's a polished receiver.
He catches everything.
He said he's probably a kid that would be on a starter on every other team, but he is an absolute roller for us.
He called them a Swiss Army knife.
He said he always seems to do something good when he comes in.
He said he has dudes in front of him and he feels bad for him, but he makes the most of his opportunities.
He's got great hands.
Broughton is such a hard worker.
Next year he's going to blow up.
But guys, I think he didn't just then putting Milton over Colquitt County.
Yeah, you know, no doubt about that.
He's blowing up already.
No free kick into the end zone non returnable.
So the Packers now have lost a little bit of momentum and now go on offense with the ball at the 20 yard line 277 total yards for nickel tonight 180 on the air 97 on the ground three touchdowns he's overcome two interceptions and that scoring drive nine plays 91 yards.
Remember the fake punt Huge call by Ben Reeves to gamble in his own in Oh fan intercepted by Benton he's got great coverage there by any change between the two of you Mike linebacker and one of the top tight in the country Landon Thomas going down low to pick that ball off from the get go fan here tight coverage in the backfield looking off the defense going underneath to Thomas late just a nice job breaking on the ball right there by AJ Pitt and fan who had thrown only five interceptions the entire season has thrown two tonight as well and Benton, who ran for the first down the fake punt, comes up with an interception on their first snap of this possession and gives Milton a great opportunity to go up by two scores here first and ten at the 23 nickel runs on the field, throws the ball to Gatling.
They got three guys over there and he still gets close to a first down, if not kicks up the first down.
And there are flags down on the field.
Illegal procedure penalty right there.
Ryan She never got set as him and Luke Nickel came on the field late 87.
You could see as he went to line up in the slot, never got set legal motion on the offense that's going to be five yards from the previous spot we play first down.
You can so that'll back them up after they picked up a big gainer on first down.
So first and 15 now with the ball back at the 28 yards namely back enough for the game to formation in the backfield.
This is the formation that Newton Nickel has made most of his rush yardage running the ball like box once again nickel fires and overthrows Wiley Wiley at the 21 pass intended for number four good coverage there by Nick Pace while he goes trying to force it in There was nickel on that play second down and 15 coming up we got some stunners going on in seven eight right now in the fourth quarter.
Camden County leading mill 39 to 20 on the Hawks home field in Houston.
Second and 15 Nick goal to the end zone jumped up and caught by Gatlin for the touchdown.
Thanks to that C.J.
Wiley number four he jumps up and catches it 28 yards for the touchdown by the big four star C.J.
Wadley running the post Brown behind the safety Great protection this way takes a long time to develop going to his second reed and just dropping that ball over the safety right there Nice job Look at the protection Stepping up finding C.J Wiley down the field dropping that over trip Dunbar for the touchdown to C.J while he is Luke Nickel the patty up and good and a 36 to 25 lead for Milton now the tables have turned they were down 21 to 40.
They have scored 22 unanswered points.
They score in two plays 23 yards after the interception by Benton.
Did you take a look at the governor's red ribbon campaign scoring drive and now a 14 point lead as we throw it down to Nicky Matt Wayne?
You know, we were talking about Coach Reeves this week.
He said C.J is the kid.
He comes in on Sundays now going out there together six days of the week, but he comes in on Sundays on the Jugs machine for over an hour.
He said he has so many multi score games and he's still out there working as if he doesn't have any said.
It just speaks volume of his development when he got here at Milton.
Well, I alluded to it earlier that surprisingly enough, LSU has not yet offered him his dad.
Chuck Wiley was a star defensive end there, played seven seasons in the NFL, too, with the Atlanta Falcons and his mom ran track there.
But of his 22 offers so far, none from his parents alma mater and a big return by former Arkansas and actually not fuller on the return this time back that was Saint Williams on the return and so Colquitt County with now with the ball at the 40 yard line and now they got some catch up to do and Baldwin has the time and groove that they were in in that first quarter where it seemed like virtually they were unstoppable.
Got to show a little patience takes what the defense you've not forced the ball if your fans empty back to you once again starting off and Ramsey Dennis now moves from the slot position and sets beside him they're going to throw a screen pass to Dennis and Dennis gets up ended and let's check and see if the Milton players.
Okay.
I mean, he went out immediately.
I think he might be knocked out.
Now he's moving his hands like Ty Redmond, the three star Tennessee commit the junior here.
Just a little flair out there by Dennis you can kind of see get caught on the side of the head right there by a knee as he read who just this past week committed to the Tennessee Ball's took a hard hit to the head.
They're going to be working on him.
We'll step aside while they do football.

And that's a polyester fiber made of oil, by the way, where's your dressing room?
Well, the good news is Thai Red is able to walk off the field under his own power.
A little scary there for a moment.
6 to 175, big time player out on the edge.
Him and his buddy Dylan Lewis really is what lets this defense move around, blitz and play it good to see him walking off and you could just see on that tackle taking that knee to the head on the side of the head, kind of jamming that mix we hope that he's okay.
He'll go to the tent.
Definitely don't play, say bring in Faisal Sequoia and take his place and the handoff and a two yard gain on the play.
Ramsey Dennis Neither team has been able to generate much in the running game.
Traditionally that is Milton has been effective with their quarterback run but a traditional running game with the running backs just hasn't really been there for either team tonight.
Now it's third down and three as we approach the halfway point of the third quarter.
And Dennis going to pick up the first down as he runs it across the 50 down to the 49.
Nice job by that offensive line surging in the middle right there, you see.
And then Thomas limping off the big tight ends like maybe he got his ankle rolled up.
He's going to drop down but nice job there by Dennis.
Get those shoulders square on the field, keeping those pads low and picking up that first down.
That would be a huge loss of Landon Thomas unable to continue here, committed to Florida State on April 19th, just days after committing from the Georgia Bulldogs as 28 other offers as well.
ESPN him rated as high as the number one tight end in the class of 2024.
What a pleasure we have had this season of having so many tough it seems to rotate.
Each game we've had is this week he's the number one.
Next week he's, you know, a lot of tight ends, a lot of great tight ends.
We've got Earl.
There's like there's four primary recruiting services and it seems like every one of them has a different number one tight end of the country.
Last week it was Caleb Odom.
We saw the number one tight end in the country for Carrollton, who, by the way, they're losing to Walton by two touchdowns in the second half.
Ball is complete over the head of Dennis incomplete.
Pardon me.
This is one of the Negro fans once back just a little high off target there.
Ramsey Dennis there running a little clear route out to the outside.
He's there and he's that kind of player he can make someone miss.
He's just got to bring the ball, get it down to him if you're paying attention.
So second down and ten.
One thing you notice about Paul, did they call that a backwards pass?
Apparently they did, because they're spotting it at the 47, not a forward pass for the backward pass.
So it goes out of bounds and that's where the ball is spotted.
The ball is back at the 47 now, fan heavy rush and he's going to go down.
Benton was closing fast and bang got down It's third down.
Big pressure there by.
Caleb Angle is number 50.
They're working off the block, hustling to the ball, still hustling to the ball, just slipping there.
He's been once again on the play.
This call for county offers just not playing with that kind of body language and energy we saw in that first quarter.
Fans going for the home run coverage out there, jump ball incomplete inside the ten nine Carr the target but they had him covered tightly and the ball was hanging in the air a long time sizes of four year and dime one cackling back there more coverage of Coach Reaves talked about maybe playing him some you know as you get to this time the year every every hand is on deck.
Ron Gatlin getting a little corner in there now for his team.
This is only the second one of the night for Colquitt County.
Sam Miller on the kick.
He stands at his 34.
And we've got and we got some guys shoving at each other.
By the way, prior to the snap false start on the offense that's an 85 yards the fourth down so it's now a final from Hueston Mill Creek will not repeat a state champs Camden county a three seed out of region one has played their entire playoffs on the road they are on the road again for the third consecutive week, coming.
Atlanta from Kingsland, Georgia, beat the Mill Creek Hawks 3920 the final.
Can you say that's the biggest upset so far in your mind?
Matt We can say that again.
Our ball is going to kick and roll inside the five yard line.
What a roll off the foot of Sam and Milton's going to take over in their own three.
That's a 55 yard punt by Miller.
And maybe that's the thing that is break that Colquitt County needs to get back in this game state right now someone on this call quick counting team has to make a big play especially on the defensive side.
This is one of those great times the game where you need a turnover or three and out and get your offense that seems to be sputtering here for the last quarter of time in the game.
Someone has to energize this team.
That's what as we talked about in that drive in the second quarter with Luke Nickel, those runs seem to give the entire team that he was making some energy.
Someone from Paul County has to start energizing their team.
Nickel passing out of the end zone is complete.
The Gatling completes it in front of the corner cam.
Williams Gatlin, great job there by Luke Nichols throwing this ball before Darren Gatlin even got out of his break.
You throw with that kind of timing and confidence, the cornerback just has no chance to get into the play right there.
Running that against Kam Williams was Gatlin 11 yard pickup on the play at the 13 Amari Williams dancing in the hole then finally gets stopped at the 16 yard line.
I was just jittery as Flournoy River running there by Anderson trying to get to the cutback right in there you could see him making a mark Wilson is picking up those good extra yards into this kind of game.
Like three or four yards in the rush game have been key to keeping some of these drives a lot.
That was jittery as Flournoy pardon me, going up top and incomplete.
Gatlin out there, they had him covered well that time to get back, he's going to get a late hit.
Mark Wilson, a personal foul after hitting Luke Nichols personal foul, rushing the passer on the defense that penalty 15 yards resulting in a automatic Wow herself a huge penalty going against the Packers right here.
All really of our yards because we count his brightest star.
All right they're going to head into the vehicle very close right there.
It was close, but you could see that going either way.
So first and ten ball at the 33 t.j. Lester on the carrying number 20 just the second carry of the night for T.J. Lester coming back from that injury he picks up three on the block.
Look good job there making that play you or Wilson what a dynamic player he is 62 to 42 junior he has his hand in every step defensively you can imagine for the Packers making that play there you no the field second down and seven nickel looks one way under rush trying to dump it off to G pieces there on the coverage good pressure there by Johnny Clay that's a high motor athlete things that didn't happen more in the mind of a linebacker size at 6115 good effort there to keep that pressure and then you can step into that looks like an NFL sized tight end compared to these high school players going against.
Of course, he's a high school player, too, but he doesn't look at all the year to year six, 5 to 40.
And as I said, as he continues to, become a better block for his ceiling.
It's so high, huge.
He's bulked up from 215 a year ago.
Pass is broken up as they tried to squeeze it in a tight space to Wiley and that was Fuller coming from behind to separate and it's fourth down eight and Ruiz right here trying to get it in there to C.J while you can see the three jerseys on him Juicy Fuller getting there with that right hand knocking that ball out.
So Weiser set the punt back at the 27 ball does go all the way back this time returnable from the 29 and Fuller cuts to the outside and fuller pretty good return 12 yard return after a 36 yard punt.
So Colquitt County back on offense at the 40 yard line 247 to play here in what has been a relatively third quarter he's got a step up for the Packers offensively and provide that spark that's like my car Landon Thomas back out on the field good to see him in in there he lived off with a little ankle will who is going to provide that spark to kind of you have a nice that energy they had in the first Well when I say relatively quiet I mean relatively quiet from the Packers standpoint.
Halfback pass incomplete and that was Deshaun Brown trying to complete it downfield and they had it snuffed down.
Well, three guys on coverage had very little chance of completing Justin Lester, the young sophomore and size of Sequoyah.
Neither one of them brought up on the run.
Blake staying back, not letting that play develop down the field.
Second down and ten flag on the play.
Flag on the play.
Oh false start all the offense that's going to be five yards still second down and so five yard mark off against Colquitt County as you heard John Calhoun tell Nikki No the bomber going into the halftime locker room when they had the lead, the penalties had been a real problem for them.
They've been their own worst enemy.
Nine penalties for 100 yards tonight against the Packers, four Milton for 45 yards second down.
Benton steps up there over the center as if he's going to blitz steady He's going to drop into coverage fanned Aaron a doubt for call and Carr catches it over his shoulder but runs out of real estate.
But what a catch I mean that's an absolute spectacular catch by Knight car but unfortunately he was out of bounds sight coverage once again Sam for you has his head around ball pulled my car out of bounds right there it inbounds the ball the trajectory of the ball him out of bounds and the third and 15 fan is one of five passing only five yards here in the third quarter after throwing for over 200 yards in the first half underneath they go not going to pick up the first down.
Big time hit there by too many of his junior here going on the need for the short route big rush here by the junior the leading tackler on this team in Colquitt County, at least for the moment, seems like they're going to keep their offense on the field in this fourth and nine situation on their side of the field.
I don't know that I like this call.
We'll see if they can convert fan dancing around back there.
Trying to stay alive, delivers downfield and caught by Landon Thomas and turns out to be a great decision by the Packers Niko fans as Coach Calhoun spoke about.
Sometimes he just makes plays that I didn't draw up here feeling the pressure, buying time, keeping his head downfield, finding his big target, Landon Thomas, who's still out there playing on that mix ankles.
They're up and bringing that ball down for the big first down handoff goes to Dennis and Ramsey.
Dennis too many are making the tackle but an eight yard pickup for Dennis you talked about energy and spark with that play right there by fan to Thomas the play to energize his offense to get back in a groove and under a minute to go here in the third quarter Dennis going to bounce it outside and Corey Stewart runs him down at the 25 but that's enough for a first down.
Randy Dennis Jr And Dennis is shaken up on the play as he hobbles to the sideline.
Great vision bouncing this the outside nothing on that front side big hit there he took by steward he's nursing that knee the great vision there to get that point back to the outside and pick up that first down first and ten from the 25 might be the final of the third quarter right here.
Got a bunch set here at the bottom of your screen New day.
Shaun Brown runs it right into the face of that defense and gets smothered.
Very little gain on the play as the clock winds down to the end of the quarter here.
It's an entertaining three quarters in the box.
Middleton grabs a lead for the first time here in this quarter, puts two touchdowns on the board.
The fake punt was huge.

We head to the fourth quarter here at Eagle's Nest in Milton, Georgia, and the Eagles on top in this quarterfinal matchup and leading Colquitt County 3625 outscored the Packers 14 to nothing in that third quarter, taking the lead for the first time tonight.
Matt Stewart, Wayne Gandy, Nicky Noto Palmer, our entire Emmy Award winning GPB sports team here with you tonight in North Fulton and Jon Nelson and Hannah Goodin back in the studio.
They'll have all the scores, the brackets, the interviews coming up in the postgame show.
Plus, they will during the postgame show where we will be next Friday night for the semifinals.
So the Packers on offense as we start the fourth quarter second and nine pass thrown incomplete and it is caught by Landon Thomas on the second and nice job there by the big tight end the FSU commit keeping his feet inbounds Cleveland still kind of hobbled with that ankle so so good throw here nice decision by the quarterback trying to get him the ball out on the edge.
You'll remember that he injured his ankle against Richmond Hill.
The regular season finale did not play in the first round against Parkview.
It was about 80% last week against Westlake Fan right in the middle court for the touchdown.
He looks like he's or okay enough for the touchdown Landon Thomas 14 yard big catch and it's 3631 and I'm guessing was going for two here Great job of Thomas right there making himself available just three relief thoughts the line of scrimmage here coming across the defense leading him into the end zone Great pass by Nico fan as well and if you ever want to make your ankle feel better, getting the touchdown makes it a enjoyable playing.
On that hurt ankle 14 yard catch Second touchdown catch of the night for Landon Thomas third touchdown pass of the night for Niko fan that gives him 37 on the season They line up to go for two here to try to make it a field goal game think going to run a reverse and Zay Williams throws the ball incomplete for Landon Thomas They ran that before at least a Zay Williams pass before on their first two point conversion and you could see Landon Thomas was a little hobbled in his pass route That might have cost him two points right there.
3631 Thomas With the touchdown catch Colquitt County pulls to within five with 11 a half to go and he's in Georgia on GPB he's brought to you in part by DB HD and the governor's red ribbon campaign be kind to your mind live drug free DB HD and the Governor's Red Ribbon campaign is all about Georgians standing together for substance misuse prevention.

Buckle up, Georgia Landon Thomas with his 21st career touchdown catch here.
It gets him within 3631.
The governor's red ribbon campaign scoring drive, nine plays 40 yards, took him 3 minutes and they're back in the game, 3631.
The winner of this ballgame will play against either Buford or Grayson.
Last report, wolves were up a point 1413 at Grayson in the third quarter.
If it's Buford, the winner of this game will be hosting.
If it's Grayson, the winner of this game will be at Grayson in, the semifinals.
So they're now in the fourth quarter and before 1413 lead at Grayson in that semifinal and Walton leading Cartersville pardon me, Carrollton by a couple of touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Alec Carrollton and the kick then a hit and go into the end zone will not be able to return that so eagles will take at the 20 yard line.
So again stick around for the GPB sports postgame show with Hannah and John.
They're going to have all the scores and we got some great crazy scores going on around the state tonight here in the quarterfinals.
And have a great game here as we go back and forth on that last drive.
Van.
Finally, finally, Thomas, a couple of times, one for the big touchdown.
And now if you Milton, we talked about which team may be able to establish a little run game.
You kind of want to get into one of those drives where you kind of get this game shortened a little bit.
Can you get a little running going on even if?
It's on the legs of Luke Nickel.
So Eagles back on offense from the 20 yard line.
Still plenty of time lots of time left in this game nickel to the air complete desolate That's his first catch of the night and Ashley has the first down as he tight ropes to sideline it up to the 37 yard line walk out and very capable speedy receiver out on the edge.
This is where he makes his living out in space here.
Great catch Making someone Miss tap dancing down the line of scrimmage picking up that first down.
Call him the Energizer Bunny.
That's the first catch for him tonight.
Does Have a lot of yardage in the kick return game and nickel going to run it to the other side and nickel all the way up to the 48 line picks up another first down.
Nice job Once again reading the defense, seeing only five men in the box going with that counter quarterback, getting out his face and then you can deal with Luke Nickel.
There hasn't been any sliding.
There have been big time positive runs by him and physicality at the end of lane if you had Luke Nickel 108 yards rushing on your bingo card, you won tonight.
I don't know how many people foresaw that happening, had not dropped the ball this season like he did a year ago.
Ball is complete out there to Gatling on edge, and that's going to be a first or second down Coming up as he gets to the 47.
He ran it a lot last year, didn't have the weapons around him year that he has this year.
So this year has been much more of a passing show for Luke Nickel.
But he has shown us tonight he still is a very physical runner in that short passing game.
Once again, Wolford County playing off the ball and Gatling and nickel feasting on that route all night.
Tonight, Gatling nine catches for 100 yards going over to that side.
Devlin Another spectacular catch good run.
Gatling the Texas A&M commit coming up a little hobbled on the play just a go route this is about Luke Nickel and his commitment to get the ball to his big play receiver down the field.
They're going up high to catch this ball over Cam Williams.
Oh, excuse me, Juicy Fuller You can see Fuller's feeling like Gatling pushed off for the big receiver up and making another huge play to set his team up in the red zone first and goal from the ten Lester in there gets hit behind the line of scrimmage and falls forward, maybe back to the line of scrimmage and it's going to be second reports coming in that Grayson has knocked off Buford tonight.
The Rams beating the Wolves 1914 that being reported as a final.
That means the winner of this game goes to Grayson in the semifinals.
He got out and that's Luke.
Oh, pardon me, Ryan Guy who's down on his back at the 20 yard line flexing that left arm in a key part of their rush game tonight, especially on those Luke Nickel quarterback draws.
You've seen him a couple of times lead him going up field big body like he's going to be able to walk it off left shoulder so they're talking with him about it.
How about Luke Nickel and the performance by him tonight?
278 yards passing, 108 yards rushing, 386 yards of total offense for the Miami Hurricanes Committee.
His decision making has been as good as it can be of when to throw that short, intermediate route, win the try the defense down the field and better yet on those quarterback draws he's reading the box, he's picking the sides and he's making this defense pay for playing so saw from the back end for passing touchdowns, he also has a rushing touchdown.
It's second down and goal from the 11 pump fake firing and beyond the hands of Wiley at the nine yard line.
Now it's going to be third down.
Just not able to connect with Wiley on that play right there.
Also dangerous in this situation, if you call it.
You've got to keep guys on Luke nickel running this ball can't turn your back drive to cover you got to make sure you keep an eye on the quarterback.
Short field Ryan's back in the game The tight end position Watch for that guy over the middle third down and goal Nicole 18 of 31 passing big third down play coming up right here spun out complete and got to be stopped shy of the goal line blasted Ben Reaves wanted a flag and they finally got one on the play at the end of the play.
And I think it just was more of the defender, picked up the receiver and slammed him down than it is being a whistle.
Here.
You can see a little roll out, getting the ball out on the edge to Tristan Payne and right here at the end, the pace and when it was already out of bounds came him up and slamming him back was right here.
He's already lost his momentum after the play personal foul on the defense.
That's only half the distance to the goal.
Fourth down.
So it's half the distance to the goal and not an automatic first down for that he can run late.
So that brings up a big decision where are they going to put that down to?
They're going to put it down at the floor.
Do you go for the kick the field goal of making an eight point game?
I would go for it right here?
I would I would keep my office on the field, keep it in Luke Nicole in his decision making, reading the defense fourth and goal from the four Eagles keep the offense on the field.
Anderson lines up and running back beside Nicole.
And now a timeout called by Ben Reaves got out.
They might be thinking Hilton a little better going it right out of the hat.
So while they think about it, do they keep the offense on the field or do they bring the kicker?
They'll decide during our timeout signal.

Decision time for the coaches.
Ben Reeves on the left, Sean Calhoun on the right, one time roommates back in their assistant coaching days.
They were roommates.
They were on staffs together at Berrien and then at Collins Hill.
They were roommates.
And I love how when we interview, neither one ever mentioned that until we were off the call that they were such good friends.
So they bring Nova on for a field goal to Tim.
This is going to be 21 yards from the right hash and the kick is up and good and I have to agree that's the right decision right there.
You make it an eight point game can't pass up the lot of time on the clock call for offense and that last drive showing a little life coach deciding to take the points right there and then trust the way that his defense even playing to try to stay on this call offense.
So we mentioned that Coach Calhoun and Coach Reeves back in their younger days were roomies back their assistant coaches days.
And of course, Ben went to the University of Georgia and Sean played at Valdosta State when a couple of guys named Kirby Smart and Will Bus Champ were assistant coaches with Chris Hatcher's staff.
And Sean Calhoun says, I've never seen two coaches more intense than those two guys, and they seem to have a very intense team up here in Athens that's doing a lot of winning.
But great picture there.
Those guys hanging out, being such friends and coming from such a rich tradition to be leading both of these programs.
What a game they have provided with us tonight.
They're two teams, 39, 31, the score with 936 to go and the kick is coming down at the eight yard line.
It is returnable right up the middle.
Watch out, ball fumbled and recovered by Copeland at the 49 yard line.
Zay Williams looked like he might go all the way.
Milton was able to stick a hand in there and knock it loose, but very fortunate for Colquitt County that they were able to recover that fumble.
Such a dangerous man with the ball in his hand and Williams here just the kicker nice up by the kicker ripping at the ball and pulling it out looking like a safety on that play Zay Williams relaxing only seeing the kicker to be like he was going to outrun him, fumbled the ball fortunate for him.
His teammate covered up him and got the ball back.
So I'm guessing the kicker Alex Nover gets to keep his number 25.
Remember he was 90 last year and he went to the coach in the offseason and said, Look, I want to wear number 25.
I don't want to wear 90 anymore.
He goes, Why?
He goes, Well, I kick it in the end zone every time.
Okay.
As long as you kick it in the end zone every time, you get to wear 20.
But he didn't kick it in the end zone that time, but he made up with it right there by stopping a potential touchdown.
But Colquitt County on offense here as, the direct snap goes to Ramsey Dennis Dennis gets about two maybe three on the play by the we've seen Colquitt County use that direct snap four or five times tonight whether it's Brown or Dennis it's another way getting him the ball trying to get some run game keeping balance on this offense second down and seven ball is at the 46 fan back in their quarterback going to step up now he's going to run and he takes a big hit at the 44 yard line is Lawson is there and so is Drew Cohen film feeling in the pressure right here in his face.
Nice move there partner and Spencer to beat the center forcing fan to have to take touch ball and try to get some yards Nice job by Lawson coming up one thing about Nico Grant he doesn't run a lot, but he is fast and he's very athletic, so it's hard to get down.
Nice job by Lawson.
Lawson, by the way, is committed to Carnegie Mellon.
He wants to be an architect or an engineer.
He chose Carnegie Mellon over offers from Stetson and Kyle Hopkins so quick.
That is their first chart.
Time out of the half.
So not only is he a very good football player.
He's got a good head on his shoulders.
Well, 34 of the eight and a 4.0 GPA in a timeout called here by Colquitt County.
And that's going to leave them with two the big third down coming up.
He's trying to capitalize on this great feel good return.
But Zay Williams needs to get this drive broke.
That video designed here by John Cooper.
You have to think, Jim and Coach Calhoun, are we in that four down mentality?
And that's based on how much yardage.
We get on this play, you get it to a fourth and one more than two.
You expect they might keep the offense out on the field.
See that?
How crazy have these quarterfinals been in seven, eight tonight?
You got the game right here, Milton, a quote unquote, 13 point dog on their home field against Colquitt County, playing for the first since the 2018 state final.
You got Camden County, a three seed, 5 hours away in Kingsland, Georgia, comes up here and knocks out the defending seven H.S.
Grayson Buford.
So Buford now stops in the playoffs two years in a row, playing in seven eight, bang, being chased, throws and great pursuit by Benton, who has had an absolute spectacular game from his spot.
Great job of pursuit by bit and not letting fans get to the edge to be able to throw this ball at any point.
This is all about the hustle.
The middle linebacker, six feet to ten.
And as you can see, Colquitt County keeping the offense, something we talked about in this fourth and poor situation line.
The game is the 39 what an environment here tonight and a timeout called by Milton Milton that is their second charge timeout about this so we'll stay here with 802 to go in a big fourth and five coming up Nichols thrown for 295 Fant has thrown for 276 and if you didn't think that this was an important drive Matt both teams call it talk about this.
You would think it was minute or two left in the game is 802 and both coaches feeling like this might be that pivotal moment where whoever wins this set of downs wins this game.
No doubt about it, because Milton's now down to one timeout remaining.
Of course, they do have the lead up by eight.
They've rallied from a 25 to 14 deficit twice.
They were behind by 11 points in the first half and now up by eight as they have outscored county 25 to 6 since that point when they were down 11 and that was with four plus minutes to play in the first half.
So Milton, since that time has taken control of the game.
And what play now in the sherm group with the offensive coordinator for the Packers dial up which the Eagles fans can show the ability to throw on the run got a bunch set up to the right of your screen, something out on the edge get him out of the pressures of the pocket fourth and five fan has a pocket dumps it off flag out as Carr makes the catch it gets the first down but I believe there's a flag down the field is at the 50 yard line and we might have holding the left tackle Kurt Daniels up on Snatch move on Caleb Nellis At the end you could see him get protection at the beginning and right here, as Ellis went to turn around the neck, holding all the offense that's going to be ten yards from the previous five.
Now that would have been a great move in Georgia championship wrestling with Gordon solely making the call that would have been spectacular but doesn't count doesn't work here in Georgia high school football, the junkyard dog against Dusty Rhodes one of those kind of plays.
But Turk Daniels been doing a great job all night long.
Left tackle, just getting caught.
Got that hand in there and high around the neck.
Now, Colquitt County is punting here.
Do they run a fake?
It's 15 to go, though.
Fourth and 15 line drive kick, take some big bounce for Colquitt County.
Sam Miller has done a good job of getting the bounce in the roll for his team tonight.
And it was dead at the ten yard line.
That's where Milton goes back on, leading by eight him.
They run out the clock here, not the entire 733.
But can they kill the clock, run this thing down, get points and put the game away.
And that's the big key for Luke Nickel in this offense.
Keeping patience as we've seen them with the short throwing game with Gatling and G, just being patient, taking what the defense gives and first and foremost getting two or three first downs.
So if you find yourself punting, you can flip the field and make Colquitt go the long field to try to win this game.
Now throw ten.
Murray Anderson gets trapped behind the line of scrimmage and takes a yard loss on the play.
That was Nick Pace in there on the tackle again yes And one thing I see with the more, Anderson, sometimes he gets the going side to side.
Sometimes you just got to get downhill.
The defense this situation ended in the game real for yards is all about effort and added to try to dodge every one that you see you sometimes just have to attack them and get some positive yards sometimes just got to lower the helmet and go forward and get two yards a second down and 11.
It's better than taking a loss nickel going to run it and Nick will not going very far as the Colquitt County defense rallies.
It's going to be third down and long as you can see in those first two plays, Baldwin's reads off his corner and Stephen Jackson trying to get a little clock off the giant time off clock with a couple of runs that put the pressure on Paul for him to have to use some of their timeouts if they want.
But you got to keep this ball in play and the clock running on third down and nine line.
The game is the 20 nickel going to pass inside his own five Aaron it out over on the far side and incomplete Gatling was the target and that was Javaris Fuller on the coverage and that's going to be fourth down and Milton's going to have to punt out of their own end zone.
This time.
Fuller is in a one on one matchup out on the edge on got playing 5050 ball this time able to stay in that tight coverage.
Gatling could not work his way back to the ball little under thrown there on the throw by nickel but good job by Fuller on the coverage kick is coming down at the 44 short kick Fuller fair catch and call put county short field here a 35 yard punt by wiser and now Colquitt County just 44 yards away from cutting the lead down to two and then in all likelihood going for two in the tie.
This is the kind of game we kind of felt like both coaches expect it.
One of those down to the minute 60 minute games, they're going to have to be some big plays at the end made by their quarterbacks to seal the deal.
And that's where Nico Fant finds himself.
Flea Flicker fan now chased out of the pocket, throwing off his back foot and throwing it out of bounds.
Pass.
So Milton was ready for that and it's going to be second down and ten.
Remember what we told you at the start of the game that Coach Ben Reeves felt, like winning scores, is going to be in the forties.
Good job of getting some pressure on that three Fletcher to push and out of the pocket down initially had my car coming across the field but just could not set his feet and find him.
That's doing a good job of getting out of that pocket and throwing the ball away with fans on second down and ten ball of the 45 handoff goes to Dennis, down to the 42, he goes and now it's going to be third down.
That was just a three yard pickup clock continues to run.
Colquitt County does have two timeouts way too early to burn them yet not in a panic.
You're still in as we saw in that last drive.
You feel like you're in four down territory three.
And even if you don't pick up, the first down here is about getting a couple of positive yards so you can get the first down or you set up a fourth and one or two.
Landon Thomas lines up in the slot.
Watch him Number zero fan look in that way goes to Thomas hits a first down catch Yeah big time player making a big time play in a big moment right there Tight coverage by Jack Lawson out in space Big target going up catching the ball Nice ball by fan as well Doing it on the line to get it in there too Thomas that was tight coverage by Lawson right there first and ten going up top and Paul makes the catch and then the ball comes out and then a flag comes out and Carr is heard on the play intended for Ingram Nice job breaking on the ball was Tristan Lester I'm not sure was called he did not hit him in the head the ball high ball my car going up to grab the ball Lester hit him in.
I don't I'm not sure not sure what the penalty is on this man he didn't he didn't leave Lester didn't leave his feet, he didn't throw himself he kind of just and say yeah.
And know no foul targeted offense this player on the defense that's going to be 15 yards passing.
Well I mean I don't know what Lester is supposed to do.
I mean is he supposed to let him catch it and come down with it?
He hit him in the air.
I mean, I don't understand that call.
So that's that's a tough call right there.
If he didn't hit him at all in that way, Carr is going to catch the ball in.
Yeah.
So call right there on the Milton defense.
I mean, I understand player protections and that is important but what Lester didn't do anything wrong I don't think there I mean he tried to prevent Carr from catching the ball but if he doesn't hitting right here right he Carr catches the ball and has it inside the ten I mean it's a tough play I mean Carr gets hurt on the play that happens in football second down and seven down to the 15 on the run by Dennis Lee Junior Good penetration in Spencer to make Dennis have to cut that ball back Eagle passes got now you could see my car back in the game Good to see that Carl good county back out Look they're not wide he's number five coming back in the game six play of the drive coming up it's third down and five ball thrown in the middle Touchdown Colquitt Nice car comes back on the field and makes catch and it's 3937 nine Carr working out of the slot just running little skinny post here good protection by the O-line throwing the ball once again fan all those string to fit that in there over the linebacker I'm not sure Carr's down here staying in but a big time play by him.
The city's offense up for his two point conversion.
They take the ball in the right hash, they've run to two point plays where Zay Williams threw a pass.
This time it's fans going to try to run it in and he's not going to get there.
He did not score and it's 3937.
Colquitt County still down to oh man trying to work that one on one matchup for the two point tonight.
Carr here finding Carr for the touchdown and then the two point conversion try his fan comes up a yard short Dee dee dee Dee and the governor's red ribbon campaign is all about Georgians standing together for substance misuse prevention be kind to your mind, live drug free.

Welcome back to the GPB Word Studios, Atlanta.
It's the fourth quarter of the quarterfinal matchup between Colquitt County and Milton.
And coming up in just a few minutes time, we will have the postgame show and bracketology.
We will see who makes it to game number four of a hopeful five as folks make their way to Mercedes Benz Stadium.
Is anybody on upset alert tonight?
How much of the GPB top tens will make their way into the next round next Friday night?
We'll have all your answers coming up.
But for right now, let's send it back to Milton after the game.
All right.
Thank you, John.
Thank you, Hannah.
3937 after the night Carr touchdown.
But they failed on the two point conversion.
So Colquitt which got to get the ball back.
They do have two timeouts remaining so they can use those on the defensive end to try to get that ball back and slow the running of the clock, which no doubt Milton's going to want to try to do here.
The winner of this game will play at Grayson in the state semifinals next Friday night.
Grayson knocked out Buford in a 4928 lead, by the way, for Walton at Carrollton.
So it looks like Walton will be hosting Camden in the semifinals ball is coming down at the 20 yard line return up to the 38.
So not a bad situation right there.
It was Makai Jones on, the return.
So they end up getting good field position out of this.
And if nothing else, with this good field position, you get a first down or two.
Even if you don't score, you're able to flip them and put them pin them deep.
Yeah, that's no doubt Is the Milton strategy.
Well doubt the Milton strategies to score here put the game away.
But if he can't do that then to possibly pin them deep after you if you have to punt it away.
Ball security to get a couple of first down falling forward.
If you have the ball trying to play mistake three football, no penalties.
Do you give any kind of encouragement over the call?
Quick counting 344 to go Nick going to run it again and Nichols going to get close to ten on the play.
Number five, only a three man rush on that play right there playing salts.
And that's where he has feasted to have such a big rushing game.
He looks out on the edge.
He doesn't like to throw the boxes.
Like by the time the defense is seven, eight guys or ten off the ball protecting the deep ball.
But Luke Nichols is feasting, running it 13 carries for one, 17 for nickel tonight, second down and a yard Nicole throws complete to Wiley that pick that pass was nearly picked to run Blake clean while coming underneath this route number 11.
At that first angle you just felt like he was about to pick that ball alone looking for loop victory.
He was able to get it out to C.J wildly on the edge.
That's a fresh set of downs as we go under 3 minutes to play in Colquitt county.
He's going to have to start thinking about using those last two timeouts here shortly.
I mean, there's still 20 seconds left on the play clock.
They don't have to snap until about 208.
This formation, the way the defense has been playing, this has been something that Milton has ran the quarterback draw against consistently that night, snap it with 212 and nickel going to run it again.
And let's see if Colquitt uses the timeout right here.
They do finally time out.
Hope that is their second charge.
Time out of the hat.
So the timeout comes with 203 and a second and ten coming up.
But you know, Coach Wood's in a very tight spot here because only have one more time out to go if Milton runs play like that they call a quick timeout Milton can run another play just like that and milked this thing down to where they don't have to punt till around the one minute one between 121 15.
But you expect Coach Reid to dial up two runs right here, most likely one if this next one is a quarterback, draw the nickel.
That's when they've made a lot of yardage.
Keep this on the ground if you can.
If you find yourself punting with a minute on the clock and the way that your defense has been playing, that's a plus.
The first part, the first thing you need to do is get this time out of Colquitt off the board.
And the other factor is if you pick up a first down here, game over Milton got we have come down to that point where Milton if they can pick up a first down here game over they will have wrapped this thing up second down and ten What a night for that guy and he's just going to run it again and going to lunge forward to the 39 after being hit by pinion and now it's going to be third down.
Did they burn the timeout?
They haven't called it yet.
They're going to save it for the last one.
So they're going to save it for the fourth down.
And once again, the best running play all night for Milton has been Luke Nichols in the quarterback draw.
So where's the timeout coming from here?
I think it's coming from the bench.
It's the officials are telling the band that the they got to stop playing while Milton's on offense.
I mean, they're blowing it out pretty good, aren't they?
Kudos to those guys making the trip up from Moultrie.
They have they have done their work.
It's third down here in Clock's Running Again Washington.
Milton, got to let these clock run down to ten on the play clock.
This is a huge third down right here.
Going to try to pass it.
No good to take a sack back in the 46 and a timeout called by Colquitt.
Really surprised that they dropped back into a passing formation right there with, you know, get Beattie on their knees three or four yards that really surprised they did that take a seven yard loss on the play and Colquitt coming with a run blitz here they bring everybody to the party to try to shut down what they thought was going to be another quarterback draw themselves.
As you can see, so many white jerseys in that box McNeil number 28 there on that tackle along with his teammates.
And now it's fourth down and now they do have the plot just again, So surprise, they tried to pass it right there.
I mean even if you run it for no gain, now you're facing fourth in about three.
Now you're obviously in a punting situation.
You might have had an option there had you run the ball.
So, Colquitt, barring some kind of a penalty here or another fake, of course, which was crucial in this game early on, and a big reason why Milton has been able to come back from an 11 point deficit twice.
But you got to figure they won't roll the dice right here like that.
Yeah, I think this is going to go off the food.
No, it wasn't.
This ball over here.
Execute the punt angle.
Punt the ball, keep it away.
That was some say Williams, That was the first negative play of the night for Nicole.
So wiser at the 40 looms it Fuller's back deep.
He's going to take it at the 16 and no return maybe a couple of yards on the play 31 yard kick and that's where Colquitt will go on offense and 105 and remember they've got a great kicker over there on the sideline in Brett Fitzgerald who has a long a 48 this year I saw him hit about a 51 or 52 yarder in pregame as well.
He's got an outstanding leg.
So you're looking at you got to get the ball to somewhere between the 30 and 35 in all likelihood to be in his range band rolling to the sideline and throws incomplete.
So now it's going to be second down and ten just nowhere to go with the ball right there.
Good coverage here by Milton Little roll out giving fans an option to get out on the edge away from the pressure.
Just know where to deliver that ball Nice job of him not wasting time on the clock and throwing ball away.
Winner plays Grayson in the state semifinals.
Loser has a very bitter end to their season.
What has been a fantastic game in the quarterfinals tonight, Somebody's going to have to lose second down and ten man pocket.
Now it's breaking down.
He's running off.
He's going to take a big step back at the nine yard line to Corey Stewart.
Didn't see him coming.
And now it's going to be third down and very long deep.
Brown's taking a long time for the receivers to get back to the line of scrimmage as can see fans emphatically calling for him to get back to the ball.
Fan trouble again flag down as he dumps it off to Brown and Deshaun Brown goes down at the 20 yard line.
We might have a hold coming up, a big play by Jacoby Stewart came in the game a little banged up, but has made some top notch plays here.
The star Kansas commit for this year waiting on the call there you go on the offense that penalty half the distance from the previous five looks like third downs you just saw Corey Stewart working good pressure too many as well inside forcing him back to the arms of Stewart for that sack third down and forever line.
The gain is the 28 and now we're down to 25 seconds.
Fan out of his own end zone looking no place to go with it, going to throw it up for grabs and incomplete broken up at the 36 Dillon Lewis on my card Nice car doing a good job actually of playing defender and keeping Lewis from intercepting this ball.
Just nowhere to go with the ball honestly now just got to get it out.
Try to air it out to my best receiver.
As you can see at the end it is Carr who ends up being the defender to keep Lewis from intercepting the ball.
Nice coverage there by Dillon Lewis final 12 seconds they've got to get it to the 28 just to get a first down and get another chance.
The game comes down to this fan dancing in the end zone throws it up for grabs and it's incomplete and a flag comes out at the 48 yard line.
Check the goal line, 43 seconds showing on the clock but they found that very late flag on the play only call.
I could see his maybe face guarding Faisal.
So call you.
But how much pass interference on the defense?
That pin will be 15 yards still fourth down.
Charlie.
So a 15 yard penalty.
And here's the pass interference right there on Sequoyah getting one.
So 3 seconds on the clock.
Wayne, you don't have time to set up for any kind of a field goal.
You just got to try a Hail Mary.
The thing right here, and I hope your prayer is answer, hook and ladder at this distance.
You can't expect Nico fan to throw this ball too far.
Defense is in a prevent all three guys rush in You see three defenders back on the 45 yard line you're going to keep everything in front of them if you're Milton bounce final play of the game.
Barring a defensive penalty gonna throw the ball complete and that's it.
Milton has defeated Paul Quinn County 3937.
They hand the Packers their first loss of the season.
The Eagles will play at Grayson in the semifinals.
Win number eight in a row for Milton.
The Oracle Braves, who was emphatic about it, was going to take four quarters.
It was going to go down to the end.
He felt someone on his team had to step up and they were going to have to score 40 points.
And that's what it came down to.
Last play, defensive effort.
Great job there by AJ Bitterman, a man we've called all night long for this defense.
And what a big win for these eagles on their home turf in the first game between these two teams since the 2018 final that Milton won 14 to 13.
The Eagles beat the Packers again, 3937, the final in our seven eight semifinals.
Milton will be at Grayson five.
Camden County will be in all likelihood at Walton.
And time now for our coaches postgame interview.
It is brought to you by Johnny's New York style Pizza, your original neighborhood pizzeria coach.
What a fantastic finish.
I mean, we knew this was going to be a fast physical game.
It came down to the very last play.
How'd your team get it done?
Disbelief.
Hey, I'm getting emotional.
We just believe and when we believe in play for each other, that's what happened.
Coach, you talked to me this week about the why Wednesdays and how your players, they share stories about their why.
What's your why in this moment right now that those guys Zino IPA are all their hard work that's why we do it this community that's why Well you're moving on to the final four the semifinal match.
You're traveling to Graceland.
What's your immediate reaction of that matchup?
I don't know.
I got to I got to decompress from this because that right there was mentally exhausting that football game.
So we'll enjoy it and then we'll turn the tape on and see what we got to do to try to hang with Grayson next week.
All right.
We'll go hang with your team.
You can hang with Grayson next week.
Congrats, coach.
Thank you, Matt.
We'll go ahead and send it back up to you in the booth.
All right.
We are waiting to award our Georgia Cotton Commission player the game.
Probably not a big secret as to who that's going to be, but Luke Nicoll, 20 of 34, passing for 3 to 4 touchdowns overcame two early interceptions.
But the big for him tonight was his running the ball 16 for 117 and a touchdown on the ground and really his ground game Wayne was as much a part is as big a part of his cerebral part of the game.
That's why he was so effective on the ground because his ability to look at what the defense presented and make decisions and Matt, the way that he was finishing those runs or it inspires quarterbacks.
Yeah, smaller players show you that energy and that fight.
It seems that both games we've had with Milton, when he starts fighting for those extra yards, it seems like it energize and galvanizes the rest of the team.
But what a great job by that young man, Luke Nickel making decisions running tonight.
All right, Let's send it back to Nikki, standing by with our Georgia Cotton Commission player of the game, Luke Nickel.
That's right.
Not an owner other than the quarterback himself.
Luke, the first question, man, how are your legs feeling?
You were out there running on the ground on that.
Yeah, I'm definitely tired.
You know, I just felt like, you know, put the ball on my hands, trust my guys around me and just get the job done.
You got the job done.
You had a 302 yards passing, 117 on the ground, four touchdowns.
That is why you are Georgia Cotton Commission player of the game.
You were just talking about the guys around you.
Can you just talk to me a little bit?
The confidence you have in your O-line and the guys that surround you?
Yeah, I have a ton of confidence in them, you know, just like practicing all week, you know, I just love them so much and I just have all that confidence in them that they're going to go make that play.
And I just love the man.
You're Your coach had confidence that you guys were going to come out on top.
He told us all we believe and four quarters.
How did you believe in your team as a whole tonight?
Yeah, I think belief was the biggest thing for us.
You know, we talked about shocking the world, but not shocking us.
We know what we can do.
We trust in the guys around us.
And that's just what we did.
Well, hey, you are moving on to the semi finals, the Final Four.
You're traveling to Graceland next week.
What are your thoughts on that matchup?
Yeah, you know, we played them in the Elite Eight last year, so I'll be an interesting matchup.
I know they're a great team.
A lot of great athletes on that team and I'm just excited for it.
Luke Fantastic.
Finish tonight.
Go celebrate with your team.
Thank You.
Yes, ma'am.
All right.
Matt and Wayne, that's our Georgia Cotton Commission player of the game with Nicole Madden.
You look at Ben Reeves, he's still very emotional right now.
Matt USC, Kayla Williams, one week coach, Michigan run one week.
Last week we had Cleveland Browns Dorian Thompson Robinson showing emotion and now Coach Freeze.
I love this game.
The passion that he came in with it showed in his players what a great job moving on to the next round with it's built the team with their coach Ben Reeves.
Well remember what he said when he found out that they were 13 point underdogs?
He said, I just smiled.
He got to motivate to put up on the bulletin board for his team with that.
What a spectacular victory for the Milton Eagles tonight as they defeat Colquitt County, 39 seven, and the Packers for the second consecutive year under Sean Calhoun.
Their only loss of the season comes deep in the playoffs.
Last year it was the semifinals year.
It's the quarter finals as Colquitt County finishes up at 12 and one.
And I know it's cliche to say, but really is a shame that somebody had to this game tonight because both teams put on a show they definitely especially Colquitt in that first half lighting up the scoreboard but this Milton team slowly walked them down, finally took the lead.
Lee never gave it up.
And that young man is the reason why with that big smile.
