Meanwhile, the Greenbrier Wolfpack are looking for a three-peat in flag football.
They are a juggernaut.
We welcome you up to our broadcast perch alongside our flag football rules expert, our guru Dave Reynolds on Wiley Mallard.
So happy to have you with us.
And Dave, before we get into this matchup specifically, this is your sixth of flag football sanctioned as a GHSA sport.
The growth we have seen has been tremendous and really exciting from the north end of the state, all the way to the south.
Yeah, nail on the head right there.
90 school started the first year that it was sanctioned by Georgia High School.
And then we go to 300 this year.
And it's not just what the girls are doing as far as getting better, it's what the coaches are doing.
The state is doing with the Falcons are continuing to do for the sport.
And again, it's across the state.
It's not just one little pocket here or there.
We're bringing a lot more schools across the state of Georgia to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
300 plus teams, which makes it even more impressive for the ten that have made it here to the state championships.
Inside Mercedes Benz.
And after Harris County won the Division one title earlier today, let's take a look at our flag football rules.
Dave.
Now, in case you are just joining us, not familiar with the sport, what are the differences between flag and tackle.
So look a lot different today on the field 80 yards long and 40 yards wide.
First downs will be achieved by gaining the zone line to gain, which are fixed lines 20 yards apart.
We'll play 410 minute quarters.
The running clock for the last 2 minutes of each half.
Under 2 minutes the clock will stop.
Similar tackle football with incomplete passes, scores and so forth.
Every player is eligible to catch a forward pass no matter where they start on the field.
We've already seen the center involved in the first state championship this morning.
Last one.
Flag football is a non-contact contact sport.
So think of basketball where players cannot initiate contact.
Their opponents will use screen blocking on the field today.
So with this David versus Goliath matchup, Greenbrier against Jenkins.
Let's begin with the heavy favorite.
The Greenbrier defending state champions and Aaliyah Silver is our player to watch.
She wears number 2 and Dave she can make an impact on both offense and defense.
Big part of why Greenbrier is here and she is back.
We've highlighted the past two years during this opening session of the Impact Players.
She's a fun one to follow.
The past couple of years.
Aeria player of the year.
Fierce competitor who flies around.
Stats are as impressive as they've been in the past because she's so dynamic and other defenses know that.
Had a scholarship to play soccer, but she's not done.
Not yet.
At Greenbrier, if Greenbrier finishes the three-peat here today, I'd expect number 2 to have a major impact on both sides of the ball for the Wolfpack.
For Jenkins, meanwhile, their first ever state championship.
As we've discussed.
And they'll also rely on number 2 Aniyah, Browner.
And much like Silver, she's a two way player.
Yeah.
Has the I.T.
Factor.
Coaches love her, teammates love her.
Everybody loves watching her play.
She's the anchor to the team on both sides of the ball and go to wide receiver on offense.
Over 600 yards of receiving on the other side of the ball 70 tackles, eight interceptions, four of them at a pick six.
Several college offers as well.
And on this stage, looking to add to some more college offers while she's here?
With the speed that she brings to the table, Browner needs to have a big day at the Warriors want to fight off and win their first state championship ever.
So Jenkins and Greenbrier, that is our Division two state championship matchup.
And Dave, so excited to see how this game unfolds.
So both teams preparing to take the field.
And let's go down to Jon Nelson who has more on the sideline.
Good afternoon to Wiley and to Dave and to all of you accessing us.
However you are doing so here for Championship two of 13 here at Mercedes Benz Stadium for the GHSA Championships in a 23 day period.
If my math is correct, tape got out on both of these teams because you're looking at number 16 nationally in Jenkins, number 9 nationally in Greenbrier.
But all these two teams really have to do to probably get some advanced scouting is check in with Grovetown.
Grovetown is a common opponent that knocked both of these teams into the loss column.
But you look at that game and then you kind of parlay that into the two defenses that we're going to see here this afternoon.
The shutout word comes up a lot here in 2025 for Jenkins 13 shutouts on the season.
In their 22 wins.
And only one time have they allowed points into double digits for head coach Brianna Brooker and her side down there at Jenkins, who have made the long trek from the coast to come up here to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
On the flip side, for Greenbrier 21-3 15 shutouts on the season, they have allowed double digits a couple more times than Jenkins has, but the end of the day, you're still number 3 in the state and number 9 nationally.
Depending on your classification.
So you've got two top 20 teams, Wiley and Dave.
Looking forward to seeing how this one evolves.
And are we going to be closer to the zero or because we talked so much about defenses?
Are we going to get a lot of offense.
Let's find out together this afternoon.
Well, if we've learned one thing covering these state championships over the years is you never truly know what exactly is going to happen.
And you can see head coach for the Greenbrier Wolfpack that is Jamie Smith in his first year as the head coach.
But his fourth year with the program spent the last three as the defensive coordinator and trying to lead the Wolfpack to their third consecutive state championship.
Greenbrier, defeating Lithia Springs two years ago, shutting out North Oconee last year.
And Coach Smith pointed out that it almost feels like their first trip to Mercedes-Benz, except that their Lithia Springs, they're the ones that have won a couple of championships and have been here and done that.
Meanwhile, for Jenkins, they're a school that has not been to a state championship.
They're hungry like Greenbrier was a couple of years ago.
Let's go defense.
So Jenkins will take the field defensively.
Greenbrier.
And for Greenbrier, they've won the toss and they will take the ball.
So the Wolfpack 21-3 They've won eight straight.
In their sixth season of flag football averaging over 20 points per game.
And there is coach Brianna Brooker Jenkins alone leading her team here to the state finals.
And the Division two state championship is underway.
Off we go.
And a deep shot coming here.
And it is complete to Silver.
And her flag is pulled after a massive gain into plus territory.
Addisen Odom the sophomore with a rocket arm, showcases it on the very first play.
I wonder if that will help the sophomore calm down a little bit.
Just drop back and let that rocket arm fly downfield right near playmaker just takes off the top on the very first play.
Welcome to the sophomore.
So across midfield it is now first down and 13 from the 33 if you will.
Weaving up the right side on the carry that time.
Number 16 for Greenbrier that is Mamie Cate Pangle.
On the right side.
And we mentioned those zones to gain.
It is an 80 yard field, which means that the end zones start at the ten yard line.
So the goal line is the ten on this tackle football field here at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
And a look at the sophomore Addisen Odom numbers so far this season.
She's thrown for over 3,500 yards.
And Odom is in trouble.
The flag is pulled and they will rule.
Yes, a sack.
That flag was taken away before she got rid of the ball.
And for Jenkins, they really lean heavily on their rushers.
That's Ca'Niyah Williams, just a freshman and she's got 11 sacks now.
Third down.
Pretty impressive to start on any level in any sport as a freshman.
And just gets up field goes right around the first screen blocker.
Relentless effort.
There applying the pressure.
The speed here on both sides will be interesting to see how with the misdirection on offense, the rushes up front, how they match up against each other.
And Ca'Niyah Williams.
She's got some football background too.
Dave.
She played on the middle school boys team before going to Jenkins High.
So third down and 18 deep shot one on one coverage.
Silver can't catch up to it.
Incomplete.
And now Greenbrier will have to decide whether they declared a punt or declared a go for it.
Wynn tight coverage.
Look at the starting offense for Greenbrier Carrington Meyers at running back.
We've already seen the impact of Lee.
Silver has had Lexi Lacey Mamie Cate Pangle and Jayla Ayler in the receiving corps, along with Silver.
Punt is away.
We'll see what that offense can do in their next possession.
Taken right at the goal line.
And now pitched back.
And that touches down just inside the five again.
Once the ball touches the ground Dave it is dead.
And returning the ball that time was I'Yarna Lee no goes by Yaya.
Here's a look at Brianna Brooker class of 2009 at Jenkins High School.
Played girls basketball and now she coaches both the basketball and flag football teams.
She led the basketball team to the semifinals last year.
First girls sport to ever get to a semifinal.
Now she's taking the flag football team to the state final and they begin taking over on their own five yard line.
First and 15.
And that time the pitch is dropped.
No, they rule that a pass.
So the line of scrimmage remains the five.
There you go.
So joining Yaya Lee.
On the offensive side you have AJ Fleming at running back.
We've touched on Aniyah Browner.
And don't forget about Iycess Scott either.
She has over 700 yards receiving and up the middle goes Lee.
Racing past a couple of would be pullers and finally she slowed down just shy of the 15 yard.
Line.
Look at Greenbrier defense giving up on average just five points per game.
Up front it's Darcy Bridwell and Ari Boone Bridwell with 20-1 sacks.
You see Sophie Camapnaro along with Aaliyah Silver at linebacker, and there's the secondary Jayla Ayler has picked off 14 passes from that safety spot, and on third down, a lunging play.
And there's the rushers for Greenbrier that Poole coming from Ari Boone that sets up fourth down, looks like Jenkins will be forced to punt.
Gotta love the effort there.
Gets around the two blockers and just pulls the flag on the first time.
Diving effort right there.
If you missed that one.
Jenkins converts.
Nice job pulling the flag and getting off the field.
So here is the punt.
Now.
From Fleming it's a high one, but not very deep.
And it's collected by Lexi Lacey and she's down immediately.
So already kind of what Nelly predicted.
Defense.
That is the story here so far.
Look at head coach Jamie Smith.
He is the defensive.
Or was the defensive coordinator the last three years.
Now the head coach and 56 touchdowns completing two thirds of her passes.
Addisen Odom.
Yeah, nice job stepping up as a starter this year.
When you watch her throw the ball pregame, the arm slots phenomenal.
We saw the big play early on the first drive.
Now on the plus side of the field where we left off last drive.
Odom pump fakes deep down the sideline and beyond the reach of Lexi Lacey.
Now Jenkins defense.
They're giving up on average just three points per game.
Marley Taylor and Ca'Niyah Williams up front.
We've talked about them Aniyah Browner their star at linebacker and Skylar Spaulding, who also serves as the backup quarterback.
She's in that safety spot.
And it's really a two safety look for Jenkins more times than not.
But these deep shots you see from Greenbrier, that's what we're used to seeing in their offense.
Odom running against her body down the left sideline stretches Ford where are they going to mark her out and she'll be a couple of yards short of the line of gain.
Poole from Akeelah Younger.
Younger Jenkins leaning on their athleticism on defense.
A little man action right there.
Even with the misdirection, the motion by the Wolfpack offense.
Probably four down territory.
No field goals here.
Tight formation.
Pangle splits out.
Odom looking to pass.
Going for it all.
And she's got it.
Mamie Cate Pangle snatches it out of the air and gives Greenbrier a touchdown.
For a touchdown.
Phenomenal.
Phenomenal play.
Call.
Here.
We bunch set there offensively which is typically what you see on short distance offenses.
And we just go over the top there.
Really nice play call and execution by the Wolfpack.
How about the way Pangle was able to adjust to that ball in mid air.
She was looking for it towards the sideline.
Had to flip her hips and makes the catch with her shoulders pointing towards midfield.
Now the point after attempt for one going with the run, this time to Pangle get in.
Yes she did 7-0 Wolfpack.
All seven points coming there from the returning starter, the junior and their offensive captain Mamie Cate Pangle.
It's under 2 minutes to play here in the first quarter.
And you know Dave, they needed just a couple of yards.
But Greenbrier went for the gusto, if you will.
And Mamie Cate Pangle again really impressed with the way she was able to rotate her body while that ball was in the air.
Just complete athlete.
Been here, done that, got the T-shirt playing free and relaxed.
Kind of reminds me of me in high school.
That nice catch.
When you were playing.
Madden gotta wake up.
AJ Fleming stumbles forward.
And it'll be a modest gain at.
About.
5 yards, so that'll make it second down in one.
There are no kickoffs in flag football.
After a score, the opposing team will take over first and six on their own 14.
Again, this is an 80 yard field.
So you see the 30 painted on the field.
That's really the 20.
Well misdirection.
Lee's taking a deep shot and she's got a receiver open.
And what a catch.
Soft fingertips Aniyah Browner collects the bomb.
And if it weren't for Jayla Ayler, that would've been a touchdown.
So the offense is built on the misdirection a little bit of run.
You know what.
Let's just go over the top right there.
Phenomenal catch right there by the athlete down the field.
Talking about getting your hands where they need to be.
Spatial awareness phenomenal job there.
Good concentration big ceiling bright lights even better catch.
I beg your pardon.
Moss Finley Jones.
Who pulled that flag to keep Jenkins out of the end zone?
It's now first down in about half a yard.
They've got to get to the 30 in the zones to gain.
There is a first down.
Jones again on the pull.
This time it's Ke'Ara Jones making the catch.
Nice job right there.
Again taking a little short underneath route.
Getting up field.
Good flag.
Pull again.
Gotta pull the first time.
Every time.
Ke'Ara Jones along with Samone Ray they're listed more as tight ends, but getting in on the action here.
One quarter is in the books.
Greenbrier a 7-0 lead but the Warriors are driving.
Maybe they just stay.
Football Fridays in Georgia is presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, reminding you to park your phone while driving.
Saves lives.
Heads up, Georgia.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh, hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket., and you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free, and save lives.
Heads up Georgia.
Football Fridays in Georgia on GPB is brought to you in part by Georgia's EMCs.

They handle bugs and critters.
On day one of three beneath the roof here at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, our second flag football state championship Greenbrier a 7-0 lead.
Let's take a look at how the Wolfpack got to the state championship for the third consecutive year.
And comfortable wins the first three rounds and then clutched up late against second, winning the game on a point after try.
After tying it up late in the fourth quarter on Jenkins side, cruising really through all four of those games, that Grovetown game might have been a little close to the final score looks.
They got a couple of pick sixes in that game, but avenging a regular season loss, they suffered a Grovetown and now Jenkins in the state championship with that graphic doesn't include Dave is the 5.5 hour drive that Jenkins had to make yesterday to get all the way up here from Savannah.
A lot of travel there for Jenkins for the whole postseason run.
Lee's pass is complete to Fleming, who goes down hard and the flag is pulled.
That's kind of what you're talking about, where it's.
A. Non-contact contact sport.
Yeah, exactly.
You learn a lot of the years.
Wiley is I'm proud of you on that one there.
Again, kind of athletes get in the same spot there.
No one really initiating contact.
But you do have that contact that that takes the player to the ground.
Inside the ten.
The goal line is the painted ten yard line, and Fleming with it once more and Finley Jones, it feels like he's pulling a flag on every play.
Nice job.
Jenkins just doing what got you here.
Staying with your bread and butter.
Taking what the defense gives you.
The underneath route quarterback's always trying to get rid of the football, no matter how close the defenders get to her.
Third and goal from the five.
And now a whistle looks like a time-out call by Greenbrier.
Time-out.
Head coach Jamie Smith, the defensive coordinator.
The last three years, including those two state championship teams.
And looking for a three-peat.
Shutting out North Oconee last year, upsetting Lithia Springs two years ago and trying to avoid becoming an upset facing Jenkins.
And what have you liked from Jenkins?
Offensively?
Yeah, again, just hey, they're they're the two time defending champion.
But we're here too right?
We both put the pants on one leg at a time.
We've kind of calmed down.
You're back in plus territory here.
You got off the field in the first drive.
Just staying with what?
You what got you here?
The run, the underneath stuff, then opens up the overtop offense.
Let's go down to Jon Nelson.
What were you telling him in the huddle?
Just to execute the game plan.
Go out here and score.
And you got Yaya.
Turn the corner.
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
There he is.
That was Coach Brianna Brooker for Jenkins.
And now bringing up a fourth and goal from the one.
Well Dave 1 yard flag football usually favors the offense right.
Correct.
Especially with the two yard neutral zone.
You see that Blue cone is already in the end zone, especially Jenkins offense.
And the pitch.
And in touchdown.
Jenkins.
Angelique Fleming with the toss from Yaya Lee.
Touchdown!
Jenkins.
Now a point after to try and tie it again.
Here's that 12 punch in the backfield.
Just when you think you have the quarterback bottled up no you don't.
Balls on the edge in the end zone for the Warriors.
You have the option to go for one, two or three Jenkins will go for one from the three yard line, and that pass is broken up.
Great close out Lexi Lacey jumped all over, keeps Greenbrier ahead.
Massive opportunity there.
Let's note the time and the score right there and not converting for the P.a.t.
It's phenomenal defense right here.
Contesting that pass.
Knocking it down.
Defense wins championships.
Pat's massively important especially late in this postseason.
And Jenkins is calling for a time-out here to begin their next offensive series.
Each team gets three time-outs per half.
But another note on Lexi Lacey.
She had an interception in this game last year in the win over North Oconee, but she actually gave up cheerleading to play flag football.
She tried flag last year, liked it so much.
Said you know what, I got to trade the pompoms in for cleats.
Again.
As this sport continues to grow.
Obviously you have other sports that athletes can play, but as this one grows and develops again, you'll see some people leaving other sports to get a part of this.
College scholarships are starting to flow in into our, our great state here in Georgia.
That's that next expansion piece, I think, of flag football.
Only schools playing, but also getting these student athletes to the next level and getting them money for college.
Speaking of multi-sport athletes, Jenkins four of their five starters on the basketball team also start offensively for the Warriors in flag.
Many of them played defense as well and Jenkins they have a basketball game tomorrow night, so state championship today in flag.
And guess who's coaching that.
Yeah.
Coach Brianna Brooker head coach for both teams on the right side.
Cutting up Mamie Cate Pangle.
Nice job getting north and south quickly.
Odom pass.
The feet.
And ankle.
There is coach Brooker.
Taylor ultimate goal was to be a is to be a college head coach.
But some divine intervention, as she put.
It.
Placed her at her alma mater and Jenkins, where she competed under James Burke, legendary coach Jenkins and then assisted under him for three years in basketball before taking over in 2019.
And in and out of the hands, a drop that time for Greenbrier as Odom was looking for Carrington Meyers.
Bringing her down.
Yeah, you mentioned Coach Brooker playing a dual sport athlete as well as a coach.
When you listen to these coaches talk on the calls over the course of the week, the passion, the energy for developing, for spending time with and getting people to this stage is phenomenal.
Shout out to all the coaches across the state as they bring this passion and energy into this sport across the state.
So third down and one.
Odom did she get sacked?
No, it got away.
The pass is complete to Silver and that'll bring up a new set of downs.
As Greenbrier is into the next zone.
Good poise by Odom under heavy pressure and threads it out to Silver.
Yeah, again.
Jenkins doing what they do up front.
Taylor applying that pressure.
Wow, what a catch all the way down the ground to convert the third down.
Massive important third down right there to give you a little bit of field position.
The Aeria player of the year with quite the fingertip catch.
And this time this one towards her chest.
She'll flip back.
And before Silver let loose in the pitch to the center, Abby Lester her flag was pulled.
So it's a modest gain.
Brings up second down and eight.
See coach Jamie Smith.
We talked about Coach Brooker journey.
How about Coach Smith had no desire to be a head coach.
But then when head coach Daniel Jordan decided to take the assistant principal job at Greenbrier Middle School, where Coach Smith teaches, he was put into a spot where they asked him to take the job, and he felt like he had too much love and respect for this senior class that's won two titles.
Looking for one more?
I feel like he had to step up and do the job.
Odom a little flip out to Mamie Cate Pangle and great flag pole bringing up third down.
Good hands.
That's Aniyah Browner.
Nice job by the quarterback.
Just staying in the pocket right there.
As long as she can.
And then last second get the outlet right there again.
You've got nine right there in your face.
You got two right there in your face.
The Jenkins defense is applying that pressure brings up an average down and distance.
Third down here.
You see that one loss for Jenkins in their 22-1 record.
It's worth noting Aniyah Browner did not play in that game.
They are undefeated when she's on the.
Field and it's Silver on the end around stretching is going to be short.
Nice job of closing off that angle by the Jenkins defense.
It'll bring up fourth down and four and will Greenbrier opt to punt or would they go for it?
You know, a surprising thing about Greenbrier schedule.
Talk about them a little bit.
You know, they played an incredibly strong schedule.
Blessed Trinity Pope North Oconee Lambert.
So, you know, shout out to the coach, bring him back.
The two time defending champion, a massive schedule.
They're battle tested.
Here we go with the fourth down.
And they've decided to go for it.
Maybe seeing if they can get Jenkins to jump here and there's the time-out from head coach James Smith.
So 351 on the clock.
You're on your side of the field, Dave.
The book would say.
Punt, correct?
Absolutely.
It's a tie ball game.
No reason to make a risky decision on the minus side of the field.
Punt the ball away, see if the time can expire, or get the ball back before the half.
Jenkins does get the ball back to start the second half.
Both teams are pretty even in the yardage category.
Jenkins a little over 70 yards.
Greenbrier a little over 80.
These two teams met last year in the semifinals.
Jenkins fell behind by two scores early.
Look at Addisen Odom numbers.
Odom.
Of course, a new quarterback this year, but that semifinal loss, that's where Coach Brooker said that she really felt like the fire for this season began coming up short with a chance to come to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
They've made it here now and they'll face the team that ended their season a year ago, down by one and with the football, the kick is muffed, but it is a dead ball.
Once it hits the.
Ground.
Exactly what you want there for Greenbrier 30 yard, 25 yard punt down the field, no return clock's running.
Greenbrier defense.
Just keep everything in front.
And Jenkins has a chance.
To.
Do a little two for one, if you will.
They've got the ball here with just over 3 minutes left in the first half, and they will get the ball to begin the second half.
Trailing by one first and 11.
And a pitch in and out of the hands of Fleming.
Ain't no way.
Pass falls incomplete.
So Kinley with a backwards pass that got muffed.
Ford.
Wow.
Okay, they're calling it back.
Actually going to pick up a couple yards there.
Kind of unusual situation there.
But again, you can kind of see the play calling right there getting the ball on the edge.
Those longer pitches.
Lee gets out to Fleming and she is swallowed up.
Fendley and Sophie Camapnaro both making the pull.
That'll bring up third down.
Sophie Camapnaro.
What a huge part of the defense she is.
Just keep the ball in front.
On defense for Jenkins again, keep adding the offense.
Pressure, getting a couple yards every play.
Up the middle.
Looking for a first.
That and more from Yaya Lee all the way out to the 40 yard line.
What a run down the heart of the field from I'Yarna Lee.
Jayla Ayler.
Big time.
Third down conversion shifts the hips.
Boom boom.
There's three, there's four, there's five.
Flag football.
You gotta pull flags.
It's in the name.
Big pickup there for the Jenkins offense.
Brings us to the two minute warning.
Two minute warning here.
Stops the clock.
Now we'll go to our normal weaving of tackle football clock rules.
You have two time-outs remaining as well for Jenkins, there's plenty of options there.
Do you kind of move a little faster, maybe take a deep threat here as you get closer to midfield?
Here's the numbers for I'Yarna Lee so far.
Six for seven 60 yards.
That big rush.
For 16 yards.
Moving the chains.
Figuratively speaking, there are no chains in flag football.
2 minutes Lee zips it incomplete.
Camapnaro in the coverage targeting Kierra Jones.
Camapnaro, by the way, is led Greenbrier in tackles each of the last two years, and her mother is a statistician lawyer by day.
Flag football stats by night.
Phenomenal anchor of the defense right there in the middle for the Wolfpack.
Second down, deep ball and a collision.
It was Lexi Lacey in coverage looking for I.S.I.S.
Scott.
And as they both look to play the ball their legs collided and they went.
Down Rainey third down.
Yeah.
Again that non-contact contact sport there kind of just two athletic bodies in the same space.
Scott on her back got her hands on it.
Still third down and ten.
Lee fires it deep, and that is too tall for.
Ball.
Aniyah Browner Lacey in coverage again.
Clock stops a minute, 45, fourth down and ten.
It looks like Greenbrier is going to get the ball back with a chance.
So Jenkins will punt.
This is going to be Angelique Fleming back deep is.
Aaliyah Silver.
Let's go Emma.
Come on.
There's no rush on the punt.
A low bouncer fielded cleanly and Lacey's flag is pulled but favorable.
Starting field position here for Greenbrier.
You already know Addison Odom has got quite an arm and time out.
Jenkins.
Punt return brings up first and four to midfield, which opens up the whole playbook.
Obviously, Jenkins here using the time out, make sure the defense is set right where you want to be defensively.
The halftime.
Let's make sure the score stays where it is.
Again, get the ball back at halftime.
So let's make sure the right spot again.
Bull flags at a high high high level.
Do what got us here.
We get locker room and reset for the second half.
And Jenkins.
Their defense can create points as well.
We mentioned a couple of pick sixes in their semifinal win.
Coach James Smith said based on what he saw, they had a pick six in every game.
We couldn't get Jenkins to confirm that, but they have had a lot of them.
Well, believe it or not, Brier Browner had four of them, so that's pretty good.
On defense.
When your defense can score right, that's when you're clicking on all cylinders.
Right now it's Greenbrier and Addison Odom.
Keep an eye on Aaliyah Silver.
She's in the slot on the near sideline and a flag and that pass thrown too far beyond the reach of Abby Lester.
Let's hear from Daniel Coleman.
Illegal shift on the offense.
Five yard penalty.
Still first down.
So Danielle Coleman, that's our first penalty we've had today in our two flag football games combined.
Phenomenal phenomenal right there.
Two players on offense moving at the same time.
Regardless of what level of flag football or tackle football you're playing can't have that.
So a minute 32 still first down.
Got to get to midfield for the new set of downs.
And racing across the right side.
And the flag pulled away Mamie Cate Pangle.
They really want to get the ball in her hands in space.
That is enough for a first down.
It'll put them right at midfield.
Just shows you what the Swiss Army knife can do.
The the speed there again, let her run laterally.
Find the hole, put her foot down, get up field, show off the speed, make that defense Poole flags.
Which they did there.
Skylar Spaulding with the pull clock winding under a minute.
20 to play in the first half.
Greenbrier trying to build upon their lead.
And thinking about passing here instead.
It's going to be Pangle running with it.
Well played by the Jenkins defense.
They were not drawn in, at least not all of them by Pangle coming on that end around.
Again, Really good defense, really good discipline on defense to stick with your person as they go down the field.
Definitely looking for the pass there.
Nice job.
Also not a forcing the issue by Pangle right there.
Brings up second down.
Clock's running.
Under 40s.
Greenbrier has one time out left.
Odom looking for time under duress and she gets out of bounds.
No, they say the flag was pulled, so the clock will continue to run.
And now Greenbrier forced to call their final time-out here on third down.
Nice job again.
Not forcing the issue downfield.
Time out.
Nothing's there.
Greenbrier try the double move.
Not there.
Nice job, sophomore.
Out of.
Extending the play by rolling out.
Good job pulling the flag there before she goes out of bounds by Browner.
Yeah.
Nia Browner she's already got a couple of offers in flag football at the college level from Milligan and Emmanuel.
She's also got a basketball offer from East Georgia.
Hasn't made up her mind what she wants to do yet, other than win a state championship in flag football.
Exactly.
We're not done here at Jenkins and Savannah, Georgia.
So what are your options here, Dave?
It's third down.
You've got to get to at least the pain in 30.
That's the 20 yard line eight yard field.
Silver a little stop and go.
They'll send it her way.
Battle for the ball and it's intercepted off the tip.
Iycess Scott picks it off and a heads up play there by Greenbrier to pull her flag with 13 seconds left.
Some ways you could say that worked as a punt.
Yeah.
You asked.
The options were one.
We just take the ball and run it and go to halftime.
Another one.
Take a shot, which they do here.
Get the tip ball.
Really nice concentration of staying with that ball way downfield by number 12, Miss Scott.
After the tip.
And Jayla Ayler there to pull the flag and see how aggressive Jenkins is here.
They do have a time-out left.
Deep ball.
And it is caught.
Off goes A'Niyah Browner.
She's gonna take it to the house.
Hit the horn.
Greenbrier and Jenkins delivering here.
Aniyah Browner.
Wow.
Again, you got two options.
Run the football, go to halftime.
You're happy with it or let's just take a shot downfield.
Great googly Moogly buys time up front with two rushers.
Just let it air out.
Nice defense.
You're right there.
The threads, the needle.
An untimed attempt.
For a touchdown.
73 yard touchdown pass.
Now a point after to try and get the lead to six.
Lee zooms it inside.
It's complete.
That makes our halftime score.
Jenkins 13.
Greenbrier seven.
And what a swing in those final 13 seconds.
73 yards on one play and the Jenkins Warriors with the lead at halftime in their first ever state championship in a girls sport.
And the Warriors are fired up and so is Coach Brianna Brooker, who's joined by John Nelson.
Thank you very much.
You can catch your breath on that, huh?
I know, I'm sorry.
I'm a little older than I remember.
I am.
You're fighting with it.
I mean, it was yard at a time, yard at a time.
Both defenses were stepping up when they needed to.
But then you get that home run shot.
What's it like to have that going into the half?
We have to trust our athletes.
We have to trust what got us here.
Aniyah Browner is a big time athlete for us.
So is I'Yarna Lee that passed two big passes to somebody.
They have that chemistry back and forth all season.
So we have to go with what we know works.
We have to trust it.
We have to test their defense.
Right now they're sending our rushes, sending our rushes to us two at a time.
They're playing in the middle.
So we don't have those gaps right there.
But we have to go through those big those big passes.
Thanks for your time.
Of course.
Thank you.
Jenkins gets the home run shot before the half, and they go from being down one to up six.
Halftime show coming up around the corner on the great GPB stick and stay.

Welcome in to our GPB halftime show.
We're live from Mercedes-Benz Stadium as we bring you the best of Georgia high school football.
State championship coverage.
Right now, we're currently at the half of our flag Division two game between Jenkins and Greenbrier.
And boy, if you're just now joining us, you missed the best 13 seconds of the game before the half.
Right now, Jenkins is leading 13-6 But let me tell you how they got there.
Warriors grabbed the pick just before the half and with 13 seconds left and one play, I'Yarna Lee tossed a 73 yard bomb pass to Aniyah Browner for the touchdown, which gave them great momentum.
And hey, the Warriors have the 136 lead at the half and they get the ball to begin the second half.
It's been a fun one to watch.
We also had a game earlier this morning at 11:00 A.M.
Harris County.
Well they won 30-2 to nothing over Washington County for our flag Division one final.
Congratulations to the Tigers.
Well, from the Georgia EMC scoreboard to our Georgia EMC Awards, our John Nelson has more on this year's winners.

Congratulations to all the winners this year.
Great stuff Nelly!
Thanks again to our friends over at Georgia EMC and congratulations to all of the winners!
Well, Harper Beckham, she's a volleyball player from Richmond High School and she is our youth save it pharmacy player.
And she is set up for success in more ways than one.
She's just so driven to accomplish goals.
I started.
Kind of in between seventh and eighth grade, never playing before.
She really did get a late start, but she she worked her tail off to catch up is what she did.
You know, if we don't have a good setter, then the hitters can't do what they need to do with the ball.
So that takes repetition and learning and thinking and knowing what to do instinctively.
And she's she's got that.
And to me, that's what makes her exceptional at what she does.
It's a really hard position to play.
It takes a lot of focus, a lot of really quick decisions.
You can be the most athletic person in the room, but you have to be able to make those split second decisions and make smart choices to benefit your team.
Congratulations to Harper and congratulations to Nelly, because you get to hang out with me right now.
And we're going to talk a little bit about the Red Devils.
Right.
We've got a Red devil state championship game coming up.
What are your quick thoughts.
I think the Red Devils are going to win.
Nick.
How about that.
Ha.
See, you set me up.
I thought I had to knock that down.
You took it, you took it I love that.
I mean, it's Bowdon and Lincoln County are two of the the blue bloods in the lower divisions.
Obviously, everybody knows about Lincoln County.
Larry Campbell.
And right now, Larry Campbell.
If the pacing is about right, Alan Chadwick at Marist is about two years from surpassing Larry Campbell for the most wins ever for a high school football coach here in the state of Georgia.
So you're in the 470, your top ten nationally.
All of the championships that Larry Campbell had in single A and Buddy Buford Field, that pedigree has been there, but it's been two decades, two decades for Lincoln County since they have last grasped the trophy.
Lee Chomskis was the offensive coordinator for that team back in 2006.
He's now the head coach, and so I'm looking forward to it from the Lincoln County side, because you know that all of Lincolnton will be here.
Lincolnton is you go to the Thompson exit out I-20, and then you go north and then you go toward the border.
So it's about, you know, 30, 30 minutes north of I-20, heading out toward Augusta, 2.5 hours to here.
Bowdon about the same coming in from the western frontier.
Nick.
And if you haven't seen Kaiden Prothro at wideout, H-back, tight end, whatever you want to see, you're in for a treat.
There's a reason that he was one of the top recruits heading to Athens, and Bowdon is big UGA territory.
I didn't know this until we caught up with Rich Fendley.
He's like, yeah, Bowdon is UGA territory and everybody went nuts in Bowdon when they found out that Kaiden Prothro was going to Athens.
So it's going to be a challenge for Lincoln County going up against the tall target like Kaiden Prothro, who's caught half of the 56 TDs this season.
So it's going to be interesting.
Clash of styles a little bit into a phone booth or out wide.
We'll see what happens.
But yes Nick, the Red Devils are going to win.
I was going to say, John, how much does experience in Mercedes-Benz Stadium matter real quick?
One word.
I think if you tune it out then it may not necessarily be that way.
And I think that you'll see that with these first time teams coming through, if you haven't been here, you don't know, maybe it won't affect you.
We'll find out.
All right.
We'll find out.
One team has been here time and time and time again.
Another one has been here since 2006.
We've got a lot more football, including the second half of Jenkins and Greenbrier.
Coming up after the break.
We'll be right back.
All right.
What do you think, Jasper?
Honestly, I think that polyester shirts faking your game.
What?
I think cotton would have been a better choice.
Cotton?
Yeah, it's come a long way.
You know, nowadays, cotton breeze and wicks moisture.
Grape butts.
Buying cotton means supporting Georgia farmers.
I think that's wonderful.
Okay, sure.
But what do you think about the putt?
Oh, it's really.
I hadn't thought about it.

What?
Come on.
Are you lying?
Come on.
Oh, what a bad Paul Windom.
You have no business being out there.
Terrible.
You know, I'm a person too.
Well, it was a thrilling finish to the first half.
A 73 yard bomb for Jenkins gives them a six point lead.
As we get ready for the start of the third quarter.
Greenbrier looking to three peat, but they'll have to do it in comeback fashion in the final two quarters.
We welcome you up to the broadcast perch alongside Dave Reynolds, our flag football analyst and guru on Wiley, Ballard and Dave.
Let's take a look back at those highlights.
There were a lot of them for two teams that pride themselves on defense.
We had a number of explosive plays.
Yeah, exactly.
Different style of offenses.
But here they're all the above.
Taking the top off right there.
Phenomenal pitch.
And catch again.
Going over top for another touchdown.
Jenkins short offense and then allows the overtop right there at the end of the half.
Well defended.
But not what you wanted from the Wolfpack defense to finish the first half.
Nice job.
Jenkins who gets the ball back to start the second half.
So Jenkins gets the ball back a 13-7 margin at the break.
And this has the makings of a great finish.
And John Nelson will be on the scene as it all unfolds.
Sideline.
Let's hear from John.
Thank you very much.
Wiley.
Some teams decide to go into the locker room.
Some stay out here.
You stayed out here.
Would you talk to him about.
About actually doing our defensive assignments?
You know, we just got to play our defense.
I mean, we're making mental mistakes that we don't normally make, and they're making amazing plays because they are athletic and they have great players.
So I mean, we just got to play our game and do what we need to do.
I was going to ask, it's like there were a lot of opportunities that they had where they were trying to go distance, and then they do get the shot to end the first half.
And I know that as a DC, you're probably sitting there and grinding your teeth a little bit.
Yeah, I was a little frustrated.
I mean, we talked about it.
Hopefully that, you know, the girls have come back out and we'll be hunters and go get them.
Thanks for your time.
All right.
Thank you.
Greenbrier has got a little bit of work to do.
They know it.
Nothing like talking to a DC about a defensive event that happened at the tail end of the second quarter, huh, guys?
Well, John, we credit you.
You're intrepid down there.
You ask the tough questions.
Intrepid.
Reynolds.
Do you have a Webster's handy?
Yeah.
I took it.
I took I took that off Dave's sheet.
That's on Dave sheet.
If you saw my GPA, you would know.
So we'll just call Wiley Rogue Ballard from now on.
That's a that is a thesaurus.
Okay.
For the kids.
Okay.
You're helping me out now.
Roger Ballard.
I'll be honest.
That may not catch on, but we'll do what we can.
Let's take a look at halftime stats.
Thanks, Nelly.
All right, so there you have the numbers.
Keep in mind the passing yards much closer to even prior to that final 73 yard pass.
Anything jump out to you there, Dave?
Yeah.
Again the passing yards on the last play.
But the rest of it exactly what we was right before the half, very evenly matched up.
You know, if you were nervous when you walked in the building as a first time team being here, like Jenkins or even a sophomore quarterback for Greenbrier.
Hey, now, a second half, okay?
It's a one score ball game.
The the mental mistakes, the physical mistakes become even more massive.
So the pressure is still right here in the building.
Two head coaches, Brianna Brooker looking for her first state title at her alma mater.
Meanwhile, head coach James Smith looking for his first title as a head coach after winning a couple at the defensive coordinator spot these last couple of years.
And well, Dave, here we go.
Second half action.
Cannon Jenkins make this a multi score game and really put the pressure on the Wolfpack and Lee takes it up the middle.
Camapnaro Yates.
The Bell.
Definitely trying to score here for the Jenkins offense, but the very least let's just win the field position to start the half right.
Get a get a first down, maybe to get the ball back on the other side instead of a successful third quarter.
Lee in trouble and she'll be dropped for a sack.
Darcy Bridwell senior.
With her 22nd sack in her 25th game.
Phenomenal speed.
Where do you put her clicking at the rusher position.
Right there.
Again.
Flag football offensively a big time quarterback sport.
But defensively that rusher in the face right there.
Nice job on number 10 with the sack.
All of a sudden this third down a little more interesting.
After it was second and short Lee with time complete and good hands from Silver as she plucks the belt off Jones and we will have fourth down.
It looks like Greenbrier has gotten there three and out.
Exactly what the Wolfpack defense Drew up in the dirt at halftime.
Get off the field.
Get the ball right back again.
If you're the Jenkins offense, you're trying to get a little momentum.
Get the other side of the field.
So Angelique Fleming will punt.
Again, there's no rush on a punt.
You can leap and try and block it, which apparently has happened once for Greenbrier this year, and Silver tries to pitch it back.
It'll touch down at the 39 yard line.
So first down and 19 coming up for Greenbrier again.
Sophomore quarterback here.
Just do your breathing routine right.
Hold your breath for 4 seconds then breathe.
Just breathe.
You're okay.
You're on the plus side of the field here again when the the field position battle early in the third quarter.
Odom five for nine in the first half 60:09 yards.
Touchdown and a pick.
She'll go to the air.
A free rusher complete to Silver who evades one tackler.
She's racing down the right side inside the ten, lunging for the end zone.
And they will say she is down at the three Aaliyah Silver breakneck speed as she slices through the Jenkins defense.
If you're brand new quarterback to this stage, why not just give the ball to the player who's been here since 1914?
Phenomenal athlete, miss making players miss.
Get up the field.
Nice momentum right there for the Wolfpack to start the third quarter on offense.
You cover flag football during that 1914 season Dave.
It was a great year.
We did not have all these nice cameras.
Year six of flag football here in the state of Georgia.
Oh.
First and goal for Greenbrier.
They've got a chance to tie it up.
Pangle splits out left direct snap to Meyers who reaches in and it is.
Inside the 1 yard line, they'll say Meyers was down.
Again, competitive offense, competitive advantage for the offense here on the tight formation offensively and then the the Cohns being 2 yards apart again.
You can see now with the Cohns are the orange cone for the offenses on the half yard line.
And it goes to Meyers again.
Who's in touchdown Greenbrier.
And we are tied at 13 here in the third.
Same play call.
Back to back plays.
It worked the first time to pick up a couple yards.
And then you only need a half of a foot to get the touchdown.
So go right back to it again.
Very challenging play to defend on the half yard line.
And now the critical point after Cannon Greenbrier take the lead.
Odom zooms it inside.
It's incomplete off the mark.
Looking for Silver.
So we are tied at 13 with 5.5 minutes to play in the third quarter.
Again, punt set right here for the score.
Right back up the middle.
Nothing the defense can do.
Kind of surprised.
Didn't go right back to it for the wolf for the Wolfpack on the try.
But I'd like to show off the arm there.
For the unsuccessful try there.
Nice job.
Both teams now, one for two on the tries.
So Greenbrier swings back like a two time defending champion to begin the third quarter.
What can I'Yarna Lee and the Warriors do against Jamie Smith's Greenbrier defense?
Just go right back to what got you here.
You had the the success in the first half all playoff long.
Let's just get rid of the football pitch and catch.
Jayla.
Lee steps up a side arm sling and it's complete.
Iycess Scott hauls it in and I don't know how Yaya Lee got that ball to her.
First down yardage play.
Phenomenal poise.
Just stands right there.
Love the arm slot by the by the quarterback.
And like you said just defense is right there.
She's more covered than my my gravy on my biscuit.
Phenomenal play right there by the Jenkins offense.
18 yard gain.
First down and seven.
Lee dumps it off complete this time to Ke'Ara Jones.
Camapnaro pulls her flag.
Gavin Parmer flag.
Second down.
Warriors now second down and four.
Lee flips it forward for the first down.
Ke'Ara Jones secures it.
Ke'Ara Jones.
She's been a valuable outlet so far today for Yaya Lee when she's been under duress.
If you like flag football, that's a flag football play.
You think you have a quarterback all bottled up, and then somebody who's been screen blocking all day, you put you right to the last second to pick up additional yards of offense.
Really nice IQ here by the warrior offense.
Lee in trouble again.
Gets rid of it to Browner.
Oh what a pull from her knees.
Lexi Lacey somehow got a hold of a flag.
When you go short, short, short, that opens up the offensive playbook.
To to pitch and catch downfield.
Nice job right there on the edge on the flag pole in the first time.
Jenkins methodically moving the ball down the field.
Lee dashes left and steps out of bounds right at the line to gain.
It will be first and goal from the 20.
Showing off.
Why she's the point guard on the girls basketball team.
Just takes the ball, makes the first one miss.
Nice effort, but gets away from the linebacker.
Just steady moving down the field.
With contrast from the last touchdown drive which is one play and 73 yards deep shot.
Looking for the lead.
It's overthrown.
Alianza intended for Spaulding.
Skylar Spaulding the intended target.
Finley Jones.
Greenbrier second down.
In coverage for Greenbrier.
Again offensive scheme there.
Right.
Misdirection.
Short passes opens up the the 50 50 ball down the field.
You might lose those more than you win those.
But we'll take the shot when you can.
There.
And now a whistle.
They have to put some time back on the clock here.
I'm not sure what this stoppage is about here, Dave, did somebody call time-out?
I don't know, maybe a flag belt off, but.
Yeah.
Coach Jamie Smith has come onto the field for Greenbrier asking Daniel Coleman for some more information.
Yeah, Nellie, you got it.
What's going on?
Jamie Smith was lobbying for a delay of game call instead of the call for the time-out, and it just looks like it's going to end up as a wash.
And we'll go back to where we started.
Play clock's running down to ten, and they don't put 5 seconds back on the clock either.
We're at 1:18.
And we're playing again.
Ooh dangerous throw there from Lee right at Silva's feet.
Good job John.
Appreciate you tracking that down.
And now third down and goal.
Again a relentless effort up front.
Number 10 right there forcing the tough pass.
Take care of the football here.
Misdirection.
And it's snuffed out.
And down to the ground goes Browner.
It was Camapnaro.
It looked like she finally got her.
And this sets up fourth and goal.
It's a pickup of just a couple.
And here we go.
Fourth and goal.
Can Jenkins take the lead?
There's less than 30s left in the third quarter.
Nice job by the backside rusher.
Staying home letting go with the quarterback 13.
Stay home and and get the in the flush.
Nice defensive play by the Wolfpack.
Will we have some drama to end the third quarter or to begin the fourth.
Go get the popcorn.
Jenkins will have fourth and goal to begin the fourth quarter.
A tie game in the Division two flag football state championship.
Breda Pest Management knows it's the bugs inside that you want gone.
That's why Breda works to protect the inside and outside of your home.
The football playoffs and championships are brought to you by Alfa Insurance.
We're more than just an insurance company.
We're a part of your community.
GPB sports broadcast of this game is made possible by supporters of the.
Including the National Federation of High Schools.
This high school gym used to be packed most nights.
Not anymore.
Do you know why?
Because bad behavior by fans, especially adults, has caused a shortage of game officials across the country.
You see, without officials, we can't have sports.
Don't let this become reality.
It's time for a change.
Let's bench bad behavior for good.
Welcome back to The Bends.
Getting ready to start the fourth quarter.
What did you tell them in the huddle?
Well we're almost there.
We had the finish line just finished strong.
Execute the game plan.
Go out there and do your job.
That's the words from coach Brooker.
Guys, let's get to the fourth quarter where honors even on a big fourth down.
Thanks, Nellie.
As you said, a big fourth down and goal.
The ten yard line on this field is the goal line.
Keep that in mind.
Jenkins their first ever girls state championship game in any sport.
On Durant Avenue down in Savannah.
They say it's different on Durin.
Can Lee be a difference maker here?
And a flag comes out and a false start.
False start offense.
Five yard penalty.
Still fourth down.
That was not part of the between quarter huddle.
And there you can see I'Yarna Lee already two touchdown passes today over 160 yards.
We'll see.
Target Aniyah Browner.
Number 2 at the bottom of the screen.
Lee steps up.
She pitches it back.
And now here comes Jones weaving through the middle and her flag is pulled.
Greenbrier will take over on their own ten yard line.
They get the stop on fourth and goal.
Ayler and Jayla Ayler with the stop.
Challenging fourth down and long, especially after the false start again, rushing two up front applies that pressure in a hurry.
But again, even when you think the quarterback bottled up, there goes the blocking back out for additional yards.
Nice job of Wolfpack getting off the field.
But again Jenkins moving the ball down the field.
To flip the field.
The defending state champions two times over looking for a three-peat Addisen Odom their first year starter, just a sophomore and a flag.
And looks like this is going against Jenkins.
Illegal substitution defense.
Five yard penalty.
Still first down.
See, coach Brooker is frustration.
Yeah.
Pretty confident.
We had eight on defense for the Warriors just need seven.
So it's now first and five for Greenbrier clock continuing to wind.
This is Carrington Meyers.
She'll take it right side.
Nothing.
On it immediately that time.
Tighe Williams Ca'Niyah Williams who is part of the four by 100 track team at Jenkins on it instantly.
So a loss of one.
Second down and six.
Odom fakes.
It, flips it ahead to Meyers who makes the catch?
He's got the first and Williams stops her at the 27 yard line.
Nice job just rolling the pocket there, extending the play.
A little pitch and catch there to your running back.
First down yardage.
State championship on the line.
Greenbrier trailed 13-7 They got a three and out.
And now a time-out called by Jenkins.
Feels like the Warriors are struggling to get organized here.
Yeah I think everybody in the building knows what this drive means.
We talked about the running clock and flag football until the two minute warning.
So timing situations tackle first, flag a little different.
Very important drive here for both teams.
Inside the offensive huddle for Greenbrier.
All.
Right, I got it.
Okay.
Oh.
Hey, you gotta run.
I mean, you have to go.
You have to get up there, because, look, you do have blue on the goal line.
That's okay.
Okay.
You want me to roll or.
I want you to just.
I want you to fake it.
I think.
Yeah, but when you go.
Back.
Awak.
Nice work.
Off the jet motion, guys.
So, Dave, I'll ask you, what would you run here?
What?
Coach just called.
Fake off the jet motion?
Absolutely.
Let's see how it works out.
There it is.
Meyers down the right side.
Great closing speed.
Aniyah Browner tracking her down.
Brown a little misdirection, like coach John Nelson said.
Opens up the right side of the formation.
But again, number 2, flying coast to coast, sideline to sideline, flying around, pulling flags shows you why she's such an important part of that defense in the middle.
Greenbrier all the way out to the sideline to get the play call.
Now 13 seconds on the play clock in ticking.
One thing we love about flag football is a quick tempo between plays.
Second and five.
That was right close to the play clock.
Expiring pass is incomplete.
Odom narrowly avoids a sack.
So Greenbrier avoids a couple of missteps there, but the play clock and avoiding the sack now third and five.
Unlike tackle football where you have a 42nd play clock and it starts automatically and flag football is 25 second play clock.
And here we go again.
Pretty quickly running down.
3 seconds to get it off.
The snap to Odom hangs one high and deep and it's complete.
Mamie Cate Pangle brings it another big snag.
Its first down.
Greenbrier.
Down Wolfpack.
Short short short boom!
Over the top.
Jenkins just slips behind the safety.
There for big play for the Wolfpack to flip the field.
And brings up a goal to go situation from the 18 goal line is the ten yard line on this field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Greenbrier, the two time defending champs.
Odom fakes it to Pangle, floats it over the top and complete for a touchdown.
Greenbrier.
And it's Abby Lester the center who got loose and finds the end zone.
Again, Ford been blocking a lot today, and all of a sudden slips out.
Beats linebacker down the field.
Nice touch pass there by the sophomore quarterback.
Good concentration by the center.
It's one area of focus for Addisen Odom the sophomore first year just trying to work on that touch.
It was perfect.
There.
And now a critically important point after try and again, the clock still winding.
Lacey in motion.
Odom tries to feed it to Lacey and she gets it in just in the nick of time for the point.
After 20-13 Lacey.
Just threads the needle right there.
Well defended.
Two people right there by the football.
Good concentration.
By the senior.
Let's go down to Jon Nelson.
Yeah I was listening to the OC and the staff over here on Greenbrier talking to a sophomore quarterback, reminding her watch the play clock.
Because as you guys know, clock is still running all the way down to the two minute mark.
Good time management from a sophomore.
Jenkins wastes no time getting it going.
And a great poll from Camapnaro on the Carey from Aniyah.
Browner.
I beg your pardon.
That's Angelique Fleming.
That 12 punch in the backfield again.
Jenkins just be who you are.
Move the ball downfield.
Two Time-outs two minute warning.
Second down Lee looked like she was ready to load up.
Instead, she'll run and pitch it back and the flag is pulled.
Carey that time that was Malaysia Easley the center.
And now?
It's going to be third down and short.
The clock does stop.
She might have picked up the first down there.
Oh, yep.
They will give her the first down.
I beg your pardon?
Time-out.
Jenkins.
This is their second of the half clock.
Operator, please reset the clock to 252.
Quick, quick.
Shout out to the referee right there.
I believe she's still a student at Mercer down there in Macon.
So we talk about the players growing and developing.
We also need officials at a high level as well.
So shout out to today's flag football officiating crew.
That is Daniel Coleman.
Madalynn.
What's going to be a tense finish in this Division two state championship?
So again, Jenkins, you have a little bit of time here to execute.
She's got pitch and catch.
And then if the over the top does become open, take your shot.
So first and 16 for Jenkins.
Lee steps up racing through and Camapnaro stops her in her tracks.
Only one only rushes one.
This time again the Wolfpack keeping things in front.
So good heads up there by Lee not to force the issue.
But again Greenbrier defense holding flags.
First time at a high level today.
Second down and the back pitch touches down.
That's going to be a loss.
I'Yarna Lee looks a little frustrated.
Perhaps some poor timing or miscommunication.
So all of a sudden it's third down and 15.
Just take it to the two minute warning here.
Get your offense set up correctly.
Take a deep breath.
And now we will have tackle football timing rules so you can get out of bounds to stop the clock.
And incomplete pass stops.
The clock Jenkins has one time-out left.
Which means if they don't pick up this first down.
This game will be close to over third down.
Lee short hops it.
She was looking for Browner.
It's incomplete and it's going to come down to this fourth down and 15.
Had to play call correct.
Open receiver.
But again the rusher up front playing both quarterbacks Bridwell just all day long in your face.
Again showing the speed and the importance of rush up front and flag football defense.
And Jenkins has opted to punt.
And Silver handles it, making a few miss.
And that tackle is going to be down at the 38 yard line, which means it's only going to take 2 yards.
To gain a first down.
And Dave, are we surprised that Jenkins opted to punt there.
With only one time-out?
It makes a first down conversion.
Very challenging for the warrior offense to get back on the field.
So a little surprised by the warrior offense to punt that ball.
Nice job by the Wolfpack of fielding that punt and making it a short first down.
So line to gain.
They got.
To be.
Kind of shocked that they punted.
There.
So Greenbrier will take the ball happily.
And now a time-out being called by Greenbrier.
Yeah.
Defensively here rushes up front for the Warriors.
Got to get home here.
Got to get a sack force a tipped ball interception again Wolfpack offense.
Just take care of the football.
Don't even worry about pitching it right now.
Just worry about staying inbounds.
Inside the Jenkins huddle.
Stop the clock.
We got 1 minute and 42 seconds.
I got one time-out left.
That's all I got.
Do not allow them to to take away the clock.
Okay.
Let's go.
Come on.
On three.
On three.
123.
Jenkins.
So that was inside the Jenkins huddle.
First down ball at the 38 yard line.
Just less than 2 yards for a first.
Yeah here we come a little bunch set little short yardage offensive set.
Greenbrier just trying to get across midfield here.
Meyers will get it across.
They'll spot her a gain of five.
So first down Jenkins is going to be forced to use a Time-out at some point during this series.
The clock will stop for the first down.
And now winds.
And Jenkins opted not to use their Time-out yet.
But Greenbrier is pretty simple here.
You're just keeping the ball on the ground and.
Stay in bounds.
Mm-hmm.
And Odom her flag pulled behind the line.
Jenkins still not using the Time-out yet?
Yeah.
A little surprised by the delay there.
And now they will.
And now we get time-out.
Third and final time-out for Jenkins.
Time-out.
Are you at a point if you're Greenbrier can you need this out.
I didn't go to Georgia Tech.
So my math is not that great.
But again just simple handoffs or just keeping yourself running around a little bit.
Again the play clock does not start until the referee spots the next line or the next.
Yep.
Line of scrimmage.
Yep.
So it's not a true 42nd play clock, but somewhere in that same idea.
Yeah.
At which point, if it's second down, I think you can pretty much just knee this out.
Yeah.
Again, you're going to take your time with the 25 seconds.
So you're looking at maybe 35 ish seconds in between plays.
I'd at least run around a little bit.
Yeah.
You can kill a little bit of time, but Greenbrier looks almost assured of repeating.
And repeating for the state championship.
Meyers right side flag is pulled now, this will depend on how quickly do they spot the ball.
Yeah, safe.
Safe offensive play.
There.
Yeah, that's going to be it.
Meyers in motion.
Greenbrier has to snap it just one more time and that'll be the game.
So Greenbrier is going to win their third consecutive state championship.
There's 10 seconds on the play clock.
Greenbrier does have a time-out.
They can also take the delay of game.
So one more snap.
Odom her flag is pulled and that is going to be the end as Greenbrier three peats state champions in flag football in 2025.
And how about for head coach Jamie Smith reluctantly took over, replacing his good friend and head coach Daniel Jordan?
Great job.
And he leads the Wolfpack to a second half comeback, outscoring Jenkins 13-0 in the second half and Dave, they really showed some championship medal in those final couple of quarters.
Hard to teach, experience.
Wolfpack displayed it young at the quarterback positions, other positions.
But when you have people around who have been there, done that, that speaks volumes.
Coach Jordan's in the building.
You think it's tough to win a state championship?
How about take over for a back to back state championship program and get a third?
We asked Coach Smith his thoughts on if they were to win this game.
He said, look, I'll just be so relieved I didn't mess this up for our senior class.
They've got such a strong group of seniors.
They've won state each the last two years and now they finish their careers as state champions yet again.
That trophy is going back to Evans.
Georgia.
And for the Wolfpack I mean they were dealt a pretty serious blow at the end of that first half.
Dave an interception in the final 20s and then given up a 73 yard touchdown pass to fall behind.
And again, just a testament to their resolve.
They came out, got the three and out to begin the second half.
Marched down the field, tied the game and that was it.
Exactly.
So again, leadership experience.
You can't duplicate.
You can't teach it.
You have to be here at that stage to, to understand it.
So shout out to the to the Greenbrier and the whole community there representing phenomenal way to fight back in flag football.
You might be down, you might make a bad play.
You don't like but you're never out of it.
So hats off to the Wolfpack.
And on the Jenkins side, they pushed Greenbrier further than they've been pushed almost all season.
That was the most points that Greenbrier has allowed in this playoff run.
And again, a really impressive, respectable outing.
For Jenkins.
You know, we talk a lot about cross estate.
Pockets are very hotbeds and powerhouses.
You got one over there in Augusta.
Got one in in Bullitt County one in Columbus, a couple in Cobb County.
But welcome to Savannah.
Welcome to this stage.
You know, they can play flag football, too.
And and I'll tell you what Jenkins gave everything they had and some and so again you talk about David versus Goliath in the opening.
Hey, Jenkins came here and fought well, so kudos to to them as well.
And for the senior class at Greenbrier, you think about Aaliyah Silver Mamie Cate Pangle.
I mean, so many others that have been such a massive part of this three peat Darcy Bridwell you've also got Ari Boone just a junior, but she's been a part of all three of these teams.
Lexi Lacey Finley Jones.
It's going to be a group of Greenbrier that's remembered for a long time, winning three consecutive state championships and give the Wolfpack some credit, too.
They were on upset alert.
They knew Jenkins was going to come in hungry.
It was far from perfect, but the second half they buckled down, outscoring Jenkins 13 to nothing and prevailing 20-13 To win the state championship.
John Nelson momentarily will take over the trophy ceremony and again, you can see all of the seniors up there on the stage.
The entire Wolfpack team really impressively done here is John Nelson.
Thank you very much.
Wiley Mallard.
Present trophy number 2 here on day number 1.
First and foremost, shout out to everybody that came down from Jenkins.
All the Jenkins supporters.
Thank can't thank you enough for coming down from Savannah.
Fantastic season for you.
But now it is time to present a trophy that seems to be all too familiar to our friends from Greenbrier.
Not that they're going to complain about it and to do it.
The executive director of the Georgia High School Association, Dr.
Tim Scott, and our friends from Alfa Insurance.
Hey, let's give.
Jenkins a big hand of applause on a great season.
Congratulations, Jenkins.
And now to present the state Championship trophy on behalf of Alfa Insurance.
Congratulations to Greenbrier Wolfpack on a great season and state champions.
How hard was it to go back to back to back?
It's extremely difficult, especially when you lose as many people as we did.
We lost some key components from last year.
We lost our head coach.
So I mean, it's all about the seniors that we have.
It's all about the coaching staff we had.
I mean, it was we put in a lot of time and they worked hard and here we are.
What is this flag football program mean to the Greenbrier community and what it's been able to accomplish in this last couple of seasons?
It means a lot, I think.
I mean, you know, you get the support.
You see all the people cheering us on and you see more girls coming out and wanting to take part in it.
So it's pretty exciting.
And it is no doubt exciting for the entire state to see once again, hold up those three fingers back to back to back for the Wolfpack here for our second Championship of the week.
Send it back upstairs.
Thanks, Nelly.
So impressive for Greenbrier.
As you pointed out, the three-peat for the Wolfpack and the first day of flag football championships is in the books.
Harris County blanking Washington County 32 to nothing.
And then we had a thriller here at the Division two level as Greenbrier, Burse, Jenkins and Dave, a couple of thoughts to what we saw.
These first two flag games.
High level quarterback playing, flying around using your legs and your arm in the first game showing why she's so special from Harris.
Well, hard fought battle here between somebody who's been here and somebody who's not been here.
So nice to see again, talk about the growth of the sport across the state.
This is not just a 12 team kind of thing across the state.
Anybody, any part of the state can hop on board and have a high level success.
So fun way to start the day with you.
So, Madalynn Cauley, the quarterback there for Harris County in Greenbrier.
It was Addisen Odom.
And the veterans around here, the Wolfpack state champions for the third straight year.
They pull it off again, this time in comeback fashion.
And the rocket arm of Addisen Odom and down to Mamie Cate Pangle.
So many highlights through this one.
Deep shots everywhere.
Both these teams put on a performance for us this afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
We still have plenty more to come for you here on the great GPB Greenbrier, a 20-13 state championship victory in flag football.
Football Fridays in Georgia is presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, reminding you to park your phone while driving.
Saves lives.
Heads up!
Georgia.
So hot.

Welcome to Mercedes Benz Stadium and into our official GPB tailgate party.
Now here's what I mean by tailgate party.
First of all, we're having a party in the Benz.
But the tailgate party means it's the after party of the party, right?
Like we just crowned a state champion.
So now we're here having the tailgate party, getting ready for the next game.
So that also means we just crowned a state champion.
And if you're just now joining us, the Flag Division two game just finished.
Here is our Georgia EMC scoreboard.
As you can see.
Well actually the Greenbrier Wolfpack they're the ones that won the game.
The final score was 20-13 So that score is actually incorrect.
And here's how it happened.
Sophomore quarterback Addison Odom well, she found her center and Abby Lester she got loose for the touchdown with under 4:00 to go.
And that was the last scoring play of that championship game.
So final score was 20-13 Greenbrier grabs the three-peat.
And it's no surprise that our player of the game Jon Nelson well he's with her right now.
It's Addison Odom.
Now Jon, I know you and coach were talking.
Addison had some big shoes to fill.
She did it and did some.
She has thrown for over 3,300 yards before she even came into this game and just had an electrifying performance in the state title game.
33 yards.
Picked up.
One of the easiest decisions we've made.
It's time for Georgia Cotton Commission Player of the game.
The Georgia Cotton Commission, our natural choice for Georgia and our natural choice for player of the game is the sophomore.
And you know what?
We even picked out a green hat for you, by the way.
So that's yours.
And if you would please.
We will.
Love that.
This goes over the shoulder so we can continue.
And you can.
And by the way, that has become a hot commodity there.
Players around the state that are literally sitting there going, hey, can I have that?
And the answer is.
No.
Correct.
That is the correct answer.
What has this season been like, especially for you coming in with all of the graduations and all the seniors that you lost, how hard was it out there this year?
It was a lot of pressure, but we just stick together throughout everything.
So you go through all of this and all of this and all of this.
Today there's the late touchdown pass, last play of the first half I talked to coach about it.
But what were the conversations with you and your teammates there in the halftime getting ready for the third quarter?
We didn't doubt.
We knew we were going to come back and win.
It was it was no pressure.
We've been through a lot of that this season, so we were prepared.
Okay, so then there's a touchdown pass that happens late and you still have your wristband on.
So I'm Coach Smith in the offensive coordinator.
They can like put you know earmuffs or whatever.
We're going to share some secrets here.
So look on your wristband for the touchdown pass.
Is that touchdown pass on that wristband anywhere.
It is.
All right.
So which play is it?
You don't have to tell me the number, but tell me the name of the play.
Can I tell you the number?
Sure.
Okay.
Oh, I can't remember.
He told us.
Are you sure now?
So which one is it?
47.
Okay, so play 47, which is what?
But you don't have to tell me the verbiage.
But what was the play?
Okay, the center goes up and she does a backside corner and we're reading.
If the middle linebacker goes with her or not.
And you got it to your center, you got the touchdown.
You got the Wynn.
Look at all of this green behind you that is still here.
What's it like to see that support come all the way from Evans?
All the way out I-20 to come here to Mercedes-Benz.
It's amazing.
I'm so happy for this team.
I'm so excited.
And she even mentioned the number 1 more than three, which is what, one more than three is.
What four.
Right.
So she would be a junior.
She's going to have a couple of years.
They're going to chase after her four on the floor next year.
And they're going to see them hopefully on the floor next season.
Thanks for your time.
Congratulations for Georgia Cotton, Commission player of the game.
