Another thriller on tap here at the Macon Coliseum.
It's the girls class five, a championship.
The Creekview Grizzlies at 26-5 taking on the Eagles from Milton at 27-4 on the season.
Once again, we say hello courtside.
Larry Smith here, along with Kelsey Rozier.
Listen, we have seen some outstanding basketball two teams right now very much on a collision course right now trying to get that elusive championship here tonight.
Yeah.
I mean all the games have been spectacular.
I expect nothing less than this matchup right here.
You've got a five a matchup Creekview versus Milton.
A lot of fun stories in here as well.
Yeah.
In fact we've got one coach who actually was not the head coach six months ago.
Less than that.
We're going to talk about that in a moment.
But first off, player wise, how about these outstanding players for today and what they bring, starting with the player from Creekview 32 points per game.
Wow.
I mean she's going to need to fill it up again today.
Kailyn Hamby there you see her stats on the season 32 points per game, three assists 88% from the free-throw line.
Coach said she is just a gifted scorer, a special talent.
She understands the game and has a high IQ.
We see so many region players of the year at this level here in Macon, and that's the case for Milton.
Yeah, absolutely.
Deyva Davis right there.
There you see the player of the year for five a region averaging 20 points per game.
Again getting acclimated to a new coach even as school has already started.
But they have bought in to coach Triston Cooper and everything he brings.
And that's why they are here in this spot.
Absolutely.
Speaking of the coaches for Creekview, he's in his second season over 20 years as a head coach.
Eric Herrick absolutely.
I mean, he's not new to the sideline.
He's been at Chattahoochee North Forsyth where he had back to back Final Fours there.
Dawson County on the boys side, then North Hall again on the girls side.
So no stranger to the sideline.
But being here would be special for him to get this win.
And on the other side, the young man Tristan Cooper, began the year as an assistant for the boys team.
Had to jump in in November at the last minute right before the season started.
And here he is in the state championship.
Absolutely.
He was with coach Alan White, Hart on the men's side of the staff as an assistant coach for over six years in that program, was super successful, still is a dominant force within the state of Georgia and around the country.
And two days before the season starts, they have to make a coaching change.
They have much faith in Tristan Cooper, the athletic director, the principal there at Milton High School, and he has really just embraced this moment of stepping into this as his first head coaching role.
And he grew up in Hall County.
He said he was familiar with this program from afar.
Anyway, his dad, former principal taking in this role.
Hey, the starting lineups for Creekview.
Finley Howard.
Kailyn.
Hamby.
Chloe Hawkins, Lili Beal and Kylee Herrick for Milton.
Deyva Davis.
Grace Musselman.
Caroline Young.
Aaleanna, Milord and Brooklyn Brunetti and the officials for tonight, Jerome Ferro, A.J.
Simpson and Stacy L Williams.
As we're about to get going, Milton in their home whites Creekview in their visitor Greene they're familiar with that.
They have played three games in a row in these playoffs, all on the road, and I hear they are on a neutral court to start things off in the championship game tonight.
Class five A title, third of four championships here today in Macon.
You're seeing a handoff as their offense right now for Milton.
Davis trying to get it inside the triple team there.
Caroline Young nice look for Brunetti and gets it to go.
Great feed from the big.
Another big.
Milton is going to go with a 122 full court press.
Almost got a steal right there.
Getting it back with the defense causing Creekview a lot of problems here to start.
Good hands and deflection there.
Young comes up with it quickly.
Now to Milord.
Stopping to get things going.
Caroline Young 12 points per game.
Musselman inside.
Take it away by Beal make that Hawkins on the steal.
Good defense there.
Dropping down by Chloe Hawkins.
That's Lili Beal 59 junior.
Now back to Hamby senior again.
She will score in bunches for this Grizzlies team.
Step back just inside the arc that rolls around an ounce.
Rebound.
And now David Davis on the push.
Milton bringing a lot of height to this game.
Can't get that to go.
Great rebound there by Brunetti and the steal.
Jump ball and it go to Milton.
Actually going to go to.
Hunter.
Creekview.
Sorry sorry we've had a lot of jump balls over the last several days.
I'll give you a pass on that.
Okay.
Appreciate that.
Theo beating the defense.
Clearing now to Howard.
Three ball by Herrick.
It's good.
Kylee Herrick the sophomore with the three ball.
The first basket for Creekview.
The daughter of Coach Eric Herrick.
And that was one of the reasons this job was so appealing to him.
Not only the education Creekview provides, but being able to coach his daughter as well has been something special.
And the Ansley the other end Milord.
With the basket makes it 53.
Beal inside left handed layup and in.
Great patience right there.
Let your defender fly by if they want to try to block the shot and get the easy two points.
Creekview showing almost like a 1231.
I'm trying to figure out what this defense.
Is.
Hamby there in the middle, but she's got it going side to side there in the key.
Young inside Brunetti no.
Herrick with the rebound.
Tied at five opening minutes.
Finley Howard now on the dribble.
Hawkins steps out.
We've got a whistle foul away from play.
And that's going to be on Davis on Milton time-outs here on the court.
Each team with a three point bucket so far.
Milord on the other end.
Beal we're tied at five.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket.
And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted?
Driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free and save lives.

Welcome back here.
Live inside the Macon Coliseum.
Look there at Eric Herrick second year at Creekview, we talked about again, he mentioned getting a chance to coach his daughter and he was saying, you know, it's like I said, we've seen a lot of that.
We saw in the in the earlier girls game, East Laurens coach Lowther had two.
Her daughter's on that team that won the state title over Elbert County.
Great job there on the inbound and defense.
The steal.
They're going to get Herrick on the foul riding the back of Caroline Young and it'll be a. You know you gotta you gotta practice that and teach that.
You know, where you literally sprint ahead of the offensive player and get in front of them.
Yeah.
Running beside them.
You're putting yourself in a 50 50 situation for the officials to call a displacement foul.
That's right.
Young on the move.
Double team.
They're Milord three balls.
He has one already.
There's a second.
Aaleanna Milord with the three.
A little hitch in that shot, but it works for her.
Two for two from behind the arc.
Oh that was close.
It's a ten second call.
Yeah, it sure was.
Coach Cooper for Milton.
That's what he's complaining about.
Howard back out 12 on the shot clock.
Creekview down by three.
He's got a whistle and a travel.
Howard taking steps.
He's that last basket here.
Another nice job.
Yeah.
You see a little hitch in that shot.
But boy it goes in.
That's all that matters.
Kind of comes.
Off her shoulder.
Yeah a little different.
Different motion.
It's I'm not here to change it.
No it works.
It works.
Steal by Creekside.
But they give it right back again.
Young comes up with it to Davis.
Good job by the Grizzlies getting back on defense.
Eagles with the advantage up three.
Trying to add to it.
Young no second up.
Second shot follows back up and she's fouled.
And that looks like it'll go on.
Lili Beal.
Is on Beal.
That's her first Caroline Young shooting a pair averaging 12 points a game.
Substitution in the game.
Now for Creekview number 21.
Brenley Matthews taking the place of Chloe Hawkins.
Creekview now on a scoring drought.
2 minutes and 20s.
And how about that free-throw shooter gets her own offensive rebound and that's a foul.
Absolutely.
Lili Beal not letting Davis come down.
That's her second very quickly.
See if Coach Herrick makes a decision.
Get her out of the game.
Davis makes the first.
Number 15 Payten Day coming in the 510 junior taking the place of Beal.
So very quickly, a couple of substitutions here.
Little Creekview High School Grizzlies.
Davis second shot is up and good.
Milton now very quickly up 115 hitting three of four free throws here on this trip down the court.
Good defense.
Davis with a knock down goes up high to try to get around that pass too high.
It's actually off of Grizzlies player so we stay here.
Eagles basketball.
And if you could have seen the height that Davis just showed us her athleticism coach talked about her athleticism and her quickness that was showing us right there.
On the drive inside for young.
Left handed shot.
They're up and in by Grace Musselman 135 Milton on top by eight.
The lefty on the floor.
I like it.
Young and Davis in the backcourt.
It's really long.
And a foul there on the double team.
A good shot.
This is nice.
Floater with the left hand right inside the paint there.
And this pressure defense that Milton is showing at half court.
They're running and jumping kind of as soon as Creekview crosses half court.
Causing some problems.
Yeah a lot of hands up.
How many balls have been deflected already here in the first quarter in the backcourt?
Herrick with the righty little jump hook.
That's effective.
And then is broken 137 now Milton on top.
Excellent move there.
Penetrated saw the secondary defender come over.
So spun back.
Davis can't get that to go.
Hamby push ahead to Matthews.
Back to Hamby.
Again 32 points per game.
Kailyn Hamby scoreless so far in this one.
Takes it inside and so that.
What a pass by Payten Day finding her teammate.
Kailyn Hamby.
Little mini run here by Creekview.
As we approach the 1 minute mark in the first quarter, young.
On the drive.
Nice dish inside.
It won't go, but a foul was called Brunetti can't get that to fall.
One more look at that pass.
Nice backcourt cut there by Hamby.
Payten Day.
Payten Day picks up her first foul on the other end.
Brooklyn Brunetti shooting a pair hits the first.
Milton three of four from the line so far.
Can't make it a six point game.
Up and in.
She comes out of the game in for the first time.
Tamia Tomlinson averaging six points per game wearing jersey number five.
Man to man defense.
With the double in the backcourt.
Jump ball.
Very effective in the turnover.
Milton gets the basketball.
Creekview cannot set that on ball screen right there for Hamby every single time they are hedging out and trapping that on that on ball screen.
And she doesn't have the height to pass over and she doesn't have the quickness to get around.
Right.
Davis loses the ball and a foul on Davis.
That saves the second personal foul.
That's tough.
Brunetti back in very quickly.
Davis goes out.
A 20 point per game score.
Score just with a couple of free throws here in the first quarter.
We'll see how long she stays on the bench for coach Cooper.
Final 30s of the first quarter.
Still down by six.
Three ball.
That's no good.
They're going to call Herrick for the foul.
That's going to be her second personal foul.
That is a tough touch.
Foul with 14 seconds left in the first period which is going to send Milton to the line.
She's going to sit down number one.
Harper Sanders 54.
Junior comes into the game.
Yeah some foul problems already here very early on.
Two players with two fouls.
Howard and Hamby.
That rolls in for Musselman.
Make that Beal and Herrick.
Correction for two fouls.
Roberts one out of two.
It's going to be Milton ball.
So Musselman hitting one out of two.
No shot clock 13.1 on the game clock here at the end of the first quarter.
Miller to trigger in.
Gets it to young double team there.
Back out to Miller.
Sets his feet.
Can't get that to go.
5 seconds on the clock.
They're trying to hurry.
Hamby hurries down, stops and pops from three and then at the buzzer.
Hamby knew exactly what she wanted to do.
From the moment that ball got in her hands.
Great pull up right there.
Outstanding.
And what a momentum change right there.
Creekview needed that shot.
And here it is.
Final seconds of the first quarter.
Measured it up.
Money 16 12 Milton on top after one.

Boy, it was loud for that last game.
Southwest Macon.
Following the Rabun County in the class A Division one boys contest.
Obviously with the local team earlier East Laurens about an hour away.
This place was near capacity for the afternoon session.
I would certainly say it was at its capacity for sure.
The fire marshal was in here ensuring that it didn't get overflowed here.
So, we got a good crowd here.
You know, Milton brought some good fans over here.
Creekview, you got the green behind us for Creekview.
So still some good support for these two teams right here.
Absolutely 16 12 score right now.
How about Creekview six turnovers but five of seven shooting including that three pointer there by Hamby to close out the quarter and pull him within four as we start the second quarter.
Yeah.
Milton taking advantage of those six turnovers scoring eight points off of them.
That's big value the basketball here.
Second quarter.
Hamby working on Milord has the height advantage on defense.
Hamby Hamby goes up and in.
Montlick points now for Hamby.
She can score in a hurry.
And just like that, it's a two point lead for Milton.
Around inside.
Now for Brunetti that won't go Beal the rebound.
Grizzlies trying to push Howard three ball.
Sanders is off.
Tomlinson now gives up for Miller.
Full man to man defense from Creekview.
Coach Cooper asking for motion again.
Began the year as an assistant coach.
Now he's the head basketball coach.
He has him in the championship.
Training, possession.
Same score 16 14.
Edge again off of that high ball screen.
And it works.
Another turnover seventh one for Creekview.
Fast break.
Young off the backboard.
Too hard ball still loose.
Young corrals it.
It's in the hand of Musselman.
And she's calling for the travel.
Turnover number five for Milton.
And that brings Deyva Davis off of the bench with two personal fouls.
Coach is.
Going to trust her.
Nuhal Hawkins coming back in for Creekview on the other side.
With some more ball handlers here.
And a jump ball.
Atkins Milton.
Great hands again.
Creekview dribbling into those traps, coming right at them.
Quickly now.
Eight turnover for Creekview in this Herrick sector.
Check back in for Creekview.
Davis.
Nice screen and roll.
Tomlinson leaves it short but chases down for Ole Miss ball still on the ground.
Another jump ball.
It'll go the way of the Grizzlies.
Herrick in the game.
Sanders coming out.
As you mentioned, coming in with two fouls again.
So again that trust from both coaches right now for their players.
So Creekview back with their starting five on the court.
Howard Hamby Hawkins Herrick and Beal.
Down by two Beal.
Hamby.
Milord on her trying to work around her.
Shot is up by Howard and good.
And we've got a tie game at 16.
Great ball movement there by Creekview.
Coming off of those handoffs.
Here by the Grizzlies able to give up the big run, but they've answered.
Young for three.
Good.
She got it.
She thought about it, but she nailed it.
Three point shooting.
That's the third for Milton.
They are three of five from outside the arc here in the early going.
Hamby for three bounces over the backboard and it'll be Eagles basketball.
Triston Cooper down there saying that Miller cannot give that much space to Hamby for that shot.
A rare miss.
She's been up on her the whole time, and she really laid back on that play and Hamby, that was a good looking shot.
Davis three point no good Tomlinson say she was tripped down here, and I think that's that's on Beal.
Lili Beal with her third foul.
So dangerous there.
Time out here on the court for 48 to go.
Milton on top by 31960.
We're back with more on GPB.
I said I never joined.
Never knew I was strong.
I was joining the Navy.
Sounds crazy.
Saying never actually is.

Heads up Georgia.
Creekside may say and may be located in Canton, but they travel very well.
The team, as well as the families making the trip down here.
Yeah, right over our right hand shoulder here.
I mean, there's just a sea of green behind us.
So that support runs deep for Creekview.
It's nice to see when these communities really buy into the athletics.
But for me personally, as a female athlete.
The female sports.
Yeah, yeah.
Love that.
They got a good student section over there as well.
So I love seeing that.
Yeah, very supportive.
In fact, talking with this Davis that puts a shot up.
That's no good.
Rebound coming off and going into the hands of Payten Davis back in the game talking to them.
They played their first two games in the playoffs on the road.
And then of course for the Final Four, they were at a neutral site.
Howard three ball won't go.
Great support here for both teams in this five a championship Milton by three.
Davis calling the shots penetrate.
Skip pass over.
It's almost too hard.
Young stuff off the glass too hard.
Tomlinson back up.
Calling foul on.
Wiggins that's her first foul.
Brenley Matthews Typekit.
Check back in for the Grizzlies.
Some foul problems here for Creekview.
Tomlinson.
Mentioned Lili Beal already with three fouls.
Herrick with two.
Watch out.
Watch out, watch out!
Davis coming right now with two fouls for Milton missing both free throws as Tomlinson.
Herrick is held.
Musselman going to be called for that personal foul.
Her first little armbar displacement.
And he comes to the game for Davis again.
She said still with two fouls.
Trying to tie things up.
Luke Kornet a time-out getting close at 5 seconds on the out of bounds.
But she made it.
Hamby with five quick points to start the core.
She's got seven now in the game.
Herrick and Hamby hands with six on the shot clock.
Hamby going right.
Gets that to fall in.
Between three Milton players scooping, Euro stepping.
Finding her way to the basket.
That's why coach calls her a superstar.
Finding a way to get it done.
Young Brunetti that comes off rebound.
Payten Day.
Milton has missed several of those put backs right around the rim.
Matthews for three.
Coming off Jon by Musselman.
Good.
Job there under the basket.
Throws it away trying to get it to Milord.
Here's another look.
Here comes Hamby three Milton player steps.
Scoop off the backboard.
Reason why she averages 32 points per game.
Four white shirts there in the area.
Doesn't matter.
Kailyn Hamby 56 senior now with nine points in the game.
Howard bringing the ball up this time under 3:00 to go.
There's a mismatch down low.
Coach Herrick taking advantage of that.
Didn't hit the rim.
So shot clock didn't reset down to ten.
Herrick now to Matthews.
Herrick again as she shuffled her feet.
Traveled.
Coach telling her shoot the ball.
Have confidence.
We have confidence.
You got the green light.
Shoot that.
Ninth turnover now for Creekview.
Young picked up her dribble.
Musselman.
Guarded by Herrick.
Milord shot clock down to ten.
Stolen away by Hamby doesn't have numbers.
Emily profits in the game.
Emmy profits in the game.
Very aggressive.
There with her first foul.
Tomlinson now coming out.
Brunetti going back in.
And Milton has not scored in just under 3 minutes.
And 30s.
That's a lot Creekview to kind of get back in this.
Smart play here by Milton to put the much taller Milord on Hamby to try to slow her down.
She got her on her heels.
Three balls away.
Matthews no, here comes Crawford the other way for Milton gets it to Tomlinson poked away by Herrick on the steal.
Great defense.
Kailyn Hamby ahead for Matthews look at a three.
Thought better of it looks again.
But before that there's a foul.
Proffitt going to be called with that hand check foul.
Ball out of bounds.
Milton shooting is cooled off just 28%.
Five of 18 from the field.
Staying in the game seven offensive rebounds with a much taller Milton team over Creekview.
Nice job.
Yeah.
Great secondary defender by Caroline Young though anticipating that pass to the inside.
Crawford comes back out.
Tamia Tomlinson back in for the Eagles 27-4 on the season trying to win the state title here.
The class five A championship game.
One more game still to come tonight and then we finish up tomorrow.
Five championships on the docket here on GPB shot clock.
Now at ten, coach is screaming to get moving.
And Howard.
Loses the ball, dribbles it right off of her foot.
There.
It's now ten turnovers two subs coming in now.
Hawkins coming in also Sanders.
Matthews coming out of the game as well as Herrick.
1 minute to go until halftime.
Still a one point lead by Milton.
Can they break their drought here?
It's now more than 4 minutes since they've scored a point.
Tomlinson getting aggressive to Miller for the three.
That's short.
Brunetti inside has it stripped away.
Nice hands by Harper Sanders.
She picks it up ahead to Hamby.
Good handoff.
This time Finley Howard scoop and it goes in the Grizzlies take the lead.
What an effort by Finley Howard to find five junior to get that to go.
Milton now has not scored and just under 5 minutes.
Knocked away there.
Tomlinson trying to change that.
No off the backboard.
2 seconds left.
Have to hurry and it's not going to make it.
But boy what a run defensively and offensively by the Creekview Grizzlies holding Milton scoreless for the final 516 of the half and taking the 2019 lead.
Impressive job by Creekview 53% shooting from the field.
Hamby leading the way with 9-1 point lead at halftime.

It's been it's been something really special this year.
All right, so then let me go away from basketball for a second.
What else is going on here at Creekview?
You folks need to know about?
It's spring season.
All the sports are going on.
We've had we have a national FFA team.
We have our fine arts, our band.
We have Deca going on.
We have, we have a whole lot going on.
We've also had seven state champions in the last two years.
So hopefully an eighth it's been, it's been a lot going on in Creekview.
Okay, so he's got the lead after the first 16 minutes, I'm going to swing over here to the other side and catch up with Brian Jones, who's done this a few times.
Yes.
And so you know that you know the drill.
What's going on these days that folks need to know about in addition to what we're seeing today with once again, the support from Milton.
You know.
It's.
You know, to, to echo Mr.
Vance, it's the spring, so lots going on.
Obviously having our girls make the run that they've made has been awesome.
First time ever for them playing in the state championship and where our program was four years ago to where it is now, it's, it's a testament to the kids, to the coaches that we've had and then to the community.
They're just super supportive.
So, you know, that will dovetail nicely into another hopefully successful spring season.
Girls lacrosse.
They're defending state champs, girls tennis, defending state champs.
You know, our esports team were runner up last year in Rocket League and they have a really strong team this year.
So we have a lot going on.
And then, you know, to again echo the fine arts and you know, performances we have, we have a big Cirque program coming up in May that will be well attended and just amazing things that these kids do.
So it's just nonstop Cirque and esports.
Mark, do you guys have do you have esports up there at Creekview?
We are actually looking to adding esports, possibly in next year or two.
Absolutely.
Okay.
So then really quickly, so esports, when you started esports let's, let's, let's share some advice here.
I mean, honestly, it's finding a coach that's kind of willing to start recruiting the kids and find out what the kids want to play.
Because there's the one good thing about esports is there's so many opportunities, right?
It's like, you know, FIFA, Madden you know, our kids do rocket League, but I think there's just so many opportunities and it's a fall and kind of winter, spring sport as well.
So it just gives opportunities for kids that, you know, that's their niche.
And yeah, it's great to see them psyched about it.
And I will say one of the coolest things I went to last year, the state championship they have an arena in, I can't even think right now where it is.
It was one of the coolest things I've ever been to.
Watching kids compete for a state championship in Esports and Rocket League, I was losing my mind.
It was awesome.
So there you go.
There's the Gantlet.
That's that's what you're digging into.
Absolutely.
It sounds exciting.
By the way, I like I love the shirt.
By the.
Way, this was.
Yeah, we gave them out to our fans.
We gave them out to the fans.
The first 40:02 that signed up to get on the spirit bus.
And then we gave them out to the rest of the staff and the faculty.
Once the kids got their hands on them.
So it was nice shirts, nice design, and we wore them today at school.
Fantastic stuff.
Guys, it's great to see you once again.
Mark Vance, the principal at Creekview, Brian Jones from Milton.
It's great to see these guys.
This one has the lead after the first 16 minutes, we'll send it back to Nikki down in Midtown to find out what else is on her mind.
We'll see what's going on.
Hey, real quick though, can you can you see this?
Yeah.
Hey, Milton's got a shirt, too.
You see that?
Yeah, yeah.
Lady Eagles.
Final four.
I'm saying.
So just so you know, we're representing the Lady Eagles.
My neighbors here.
And speaking of my next door neighbor, Brooklyn Brunetti, she scored the first basket of the game.
So I'm objective here in the studio.
But I was screaming a little bit for that.
And she made both for free throws.
Yes yes, yes.
Nikki is an objective, subjective, very neutral studio host with so with Mark and his T-shirt and you with yours.
Nick.
We're even Steven after the first 16.
There we go.
Thanks so much, Nelly.
All right, so we have to take a quick break because we've got 16 more minutes of basketball for you.
That's right.
We've got more action from the five a girls state championship game between Creekview Milton.
It's coming up.
Larry and Kelsey, they're on the call.
We'll be right back.

Half time about to start the third quarter here in Macon 2019.
Creekview on top of Milton.
And so what Creekview did last week in the Final Four in terms of coming up really short, scoring just three points in the second quarter.
Well, the same thing happened tonight here against Milton with Milton in the second quarter.
That's right.
Milton only putting up three points in that second quarter right there.
And that is not going to get it done.
They've got to find scores.
They missed some bunnies around the rim a little bit.
They've got to regroup because their defense started off really well.
And so we'll see what this second half looks like.
Yeah again foul trouble for each team.
The coach is trying to manage that.
But look at that.
Only 25% shooting for Milton.
They were one of 11 from the field in that second quarter.
Only three points scored five turnovers committed.
And again their scoring drought as they begin the second half at 5 minutes 19 seconds.
Still trying to find a way to get some offense going somehow some way here in the second half.
And if I'm coach Cooper right like I'm down by one with that kind of shooting, I'm feeling a little confident right now telling me we can only go up from here.
That's right.
And right there they get the stop.
Brooklyn Brunetti ends the scoring drought there at the basket to start the second half.
And Milton just like that goes back on top by one.
Nice cut inside.
Big block there.
Caroline Young.
And look at it here.
Second effort points right there.
He stays with it.
Herrick trying to find somebody and Coach Herrick calls a time-out.
32nd time-outs.
We'll keep it right here.
30s gone here in the second half.
These two teams know each other very well.
Creekview and Milton just about 12 miles apart there in the north Atlanta suburbs.
That's right.
They're very familiar with each other.
20.
Going over.
Time-out.
Call right there.
Coach Herrick didn't like what he was saying.
Again, while your players might not always value the possession in the ball, coaches understand how valuable each possession is, especially on a one point ball game like this.
Here at number 24, Brooklyn Brunetti, one of her part time jobs.
We understand she's a babysitter sometimes for when Nicki Notehub.
Just now learning that.
A bad gig.
That's right.
Chris Carr.
Papa's got the baby tonight because I believe.
Hamby trying to add to her point.
Total 32 point score per game.
Three ball there is off Herrick a good look at it.
Young the rebound.
Lovie Hamby nine points in the first half for Creekview.
Now trying to search.
No movement really by the Milton offense.
He's waiting for somebody to make a move.
And now we're setting a pick trying to get to Davis.
Well defended by Howard Davis goes by.
Nice move to get inside for the bucket.
Great finish.
Great body control by Davis.
So Milton the first two baskets here in the second half now have a three point lead.
Howard clears it to Hamby.
Playing time on the shot clock.
Was started by Milord in the first half.
Now taken on by young.
Still giving up several inches.
Another man checking foul.
Musselman with that second person.
He puts down to Lili Beal 59 junior.
Down to 15 and once again the double team in the backcourt.
We've seen this so many times.
The effective.
This time they fight their way out of it.
Beal trying to cross court pass but stolen instead by Musselman.
Qatar Brunetti working inside.
That won't go but they'll get the foul call on Lili.
Beal.
And that's Lili Beal fourth personal foul.
That is a huge foul in this game.
If you're Creekview.
Out of the game.
Brunetti has been active all night six points, five rebounds so far.
Beal will come out Payten Day the 510 junior back in for the Grizzlies one shot.
She's a key part of this team on both ends of the court.
Beal is.
So how long can coach go without her?
Her aggressiveness on the inside.
Certainly he's going to be missed.
Brunetti hits both free throws.
She's four for four from the line tonight.
Quickly.
It's on to a five point lead.
Now for Milton 6-0 Run here to start the second half.
Howard pick up the foul.
Caroline Young that's her second foul.
That time we saw a three quarter court press by Milton.
But still those traps Creekview trying to get themselves out of it.
They know it's coming.
I know the scouting report says they're going to track.
A good look there.
But she couldn't get the ball to go in.
Follow up is missed as well.
Davis quickly down court probing.
Miller's already hit a three earlier.
Now to Davis.
Stop and shoot.
Leaves that short.
Howard the rebound.
Coach Herrick one and Creekview to push the tempo.
Still can't get it to go.
And the Grizzlies still scoreless here in the second half.
They'll keep the ball there.
A foul on young.
This scoring drought now for Creekside.
He's now approaching the 5.5 minute mark.
5 minutes 22 seconds since they last scored a layup at the end of the first half.
Five second violation.
So another turnover for the Grizzlies.
5 seconds.
That's what that's what Coach Herrick has.
Said right?
12 turnovers now in the game for Creekview.
This scoring drought continues.
So both coaches have been.
Coached doesn't Coach Herrick doesn't like that five second call a little short on that.
We take a break here.
4:52 to go in the third quarter.
It's been all Milton here in the second half.
We'll see what Creekview has for an answer after this.
No matter the season, Breda works to protect the inside and outside of your home.

That's the electric cooperative difference.
Georgia's EMC is so much more than electricity.
We talked about the crowd from Creekview traveling.
Well, how about the group from Milton?
Also their Eagles 27 and for.
They wanted to come in tonight and watch history as Milton goes for their first state championship.
Yeah, both schools here Milton as well, has a great turnout from their community.
The families, they're a little bit more spread out around the arena here.
Not all condensed to right behind the bench.
Different views for different people.
That's right, that's right.
Milton really ran right through region play 12-0 only one contest decided by single digits off to a 6-0 run here to start this third quarter.
Davis for three back iron Hamby the rebound.
Some bodies getting caught up to a four on four.
Hamby going inside.
Knocked away Milord causing all kinds of problems for her tonight.
Davis leaves that short rebound to the Grizzlies.
Howard giving back to Hamby.
Scoreless drought now reaching the six minute mark.
Herrick will jump.
Hook.
Can't get that to go, but she gets it right back.
6 minutes 30s since the Grizzlies last scored a basket.
The final seconds of the first half Hamby with a step through and gets it in.
Same move, same result.
And that ends the scoring drought for the Grizzlies.
They pull back within three.
And she is now in double figures with 11 points.
Miller forced to pick up his dribble Musselman to Tomlinson.
Ball on the ground taken away.
Creekview looking to get back into this.
Cross court pass to Finley Howard now for Herrick in the corner.
Looks at a three but Musselman closing well on defense.
Herrick stop and pop from 12.
It's just short.
Payten Day fighting for the rebound among three white shirts.
Three ball yes!
What a shot by Brenley Matthews.
That was a team effort right there touching three different Creekview players hands.
Just like that.
A quick seven.
Quick six points right now.
Milord for the three.
That's off and a foul.
It'll be down here to call it on Howard.
That basket one more time.
To kick out the three-point shot there by Brenley Matthews the sophomore.
Creekview actually correct what I just said earlier.
A 5-0 run very quickly and then back to back baskets now tied.
Nice job by Herrick.
Good hands on the steal.
Grizzlies a chance to retake the lead.
Hamby pushing inside and one.
Too big.
Love the finish right there by Hamby with contact.
Well watch her get her shoulder into the defender here.
The taller defenders caused problems right here.
Gives herself some space draws the foul ball.
Goes in a chance for a three point play and a 14 point on the night for Hamby.
And she gets that.
So Creekview answering after the six almost 6.5 minute drought.
Eight quick points here.
Now for a three point lead for the Grizzlies.
Tomlinson double teams.
Good Helpside defense there from Hamby.
Jump ball Payten Day good hands by the junior to jump in, grab that ball and force a turnover on the helm.
Ball possession arrow goes to Creekview.
So the momentum shift now has happened.
We said this is a game of runs.
So how long can you sustain that run.
Milton has not scored again in this quarter in over 4 minutes.
Doing a good job of breaking that press.
Now getting into the offense.
Still plenty of time on the shot clock.
Nearing the 92nd mark here in the third quarter.
Hamby underneath.
She draws the foul and back to the free-throw line.
That will be on Tomlinson with the push.
Aaleanna Milord two shots.
Hamby again, coach said she's just a special talented.
One of the more special, brilliant basketball players that he's ever been around.
In and out.
Harper Sanders checking back into the game.
Kylee Herrick 58.
Sophomore goes out.
A rare miss by Hamby from the free-throw line at 80:08 percent.
Free throw shooter.
Almost automatic.
And she gets the second one.
So one of two there and a four point lead for Creekview.
Hamby.
Now at 15 points in the game.
Tomlinson lost the ball.
Hamby one on one with Milord.
Nice job by Miller on the defense.
Hamby gets her own rebound, kicks it out to Howard.
15 footer no.
Davis a rebound.
Loses it to Sanders to Howard.
Let's.
And he's fouled by Miller.
And she'll go to the line.
Great hustle there by Finley Howard.
Milton got a little sped up there on the fast break.
Coach Tristan wanted a foul there.
I don't see much illegal contact though.
I know it didn't look good with Davis going to the floor, but I didn't see any illegal contact.
I think that's a great no call by the official.
I agree.
Howard misses the first.
He'll get one more.
Trying to finish up strong.
Nine points in the last 3 minutes.
Both free throws the Day with the rebound.
Sanders to Howard inside to Day.
No good.
Ball is out of bounds.
It'll be Creekview ball.
Eight offensive rebounds for Creekview and into my left ear.
Coach Cooper saying box out white.
79 Creekview taking a time-out.
62nd time-out here with 46.9 left until the third quarter.
Again what a turnout you mentioned.
It's a game of runs and it just momentum momentum shift.
It was a 25 20 game at the four minute mark here just over 3 minutes ago.
And since then Creekview taking off and scoring nine points in a row.
Yeah.
So only three points in the second quarter.
Milton scored because they had a five minute span of a scoring drought.
And here again in this quarter they've had another scoring drought for over 5 minutes.
Five turnovers in those 5 minutes over four from the field.
Shooting is now down to 26% for the Eagles seven of 27.
And they've had 14 turnovers as well.
All you gotta stop both of these schools.
Milton and Creekview seeking their first ever state championship in girls basketball.
You got.
One more game coming up later today.
Alexander versus Woodward Academy the five a boys final that comes up the tip approximately 730 here on GPB.
Five more games tomorrow.
The two AA championships, the six AA championships as well as the wheelchair championships.
It's all ahead here on GPB as we continue this week of championship basketball, part of your weekend with us.
Iverson Larry Smith, Al-Salti Rozier and Tiyah GPB team shot clock down to six Hamby shooting up the three.
That's an air ball.
Good defense there by Miller.
Milton now on the run.
Musselman to Tomlinson shot clock is off.
They can hold for one shot if they want.
That's what appears.
Davis is going to do.
Inside for Milord shot is blocked.
Taken away.
10 seconds now for Hamby and the Creekview Grizzlies into the corner.
Sean Powers no.
Day puts it in.
Payten Day just before the buzzer and Creekview closing out on an 11-0 run to take a six point lead at the end of three quarters.
Kelce said.
It's just a game of runs.
How can Milton answer this one?
Grizzlies up by six as we head to the fourth.

Yeah, they.
Really are so much basketball, football sponsored here.
A great partner for GPB.
We certainly appreciate their support.
Okay, Milton now just nine points total.
These last two quarters three of 19 shooting.
How can they change that?
Lili getting aggressive trying to make something happen here and she draws the foul.
She'll shoot a couple.
He's up and good.
First time to the free-throw line this game one for one.
Substitution is Hawkins comes out of the game.
Herrick goes back in free throws in and so cuts the lead down to 43127.
Milton scoring drought ends.
Again, only three field goals since the end of the first quarter.
Causing some problems, they finally get it over to Hamby.
Update the crowd wanted her to go for that layup, but she pulls it back out, resets the offense.
Ball out of his hands instead.
It's over to Howard.
It's a tough pass almost taken away.
Howard almost took a step there.
Puts up the jumper.
That's good.
Finley Howard Jr.
Gets on the board and the lead is back to six.
This is where if you're Milton you can't afford to trade points and baskets at this point in the fourth quarter.
Nice defense there.
It looked like it was pretty good.
The reach in and knock away by Payten Day.
But she'll be whistled for the foul.
Here's another look.
Kick out there to Finley Howard who knocks down that elbow shot.
Creekview 11 steals in this game.
Right.
Brenley Matthews 510 sophomore.
1 minute gone here in the fourth quarter.
Milord trying to get it to young.
Young Bing throws it up and in.
Absolutely great finish there by young.
And crucial points on the board for Milton right now.
DC Brenley Matthews just a little bit too much body contact.
Watch that right arm too.
Doesn't stay vertical.
Finishes the three point play.
Milton climbing back within three.
Young now with seven points on the night.
Herrick picks up the dribble.
Full court pressure causing some problems for the Grizzlies.
Hamby now it's Davius checking her fourth shot is good.
That's a three pointer.
Quick shot release there by Matthews her second two for five from beyond the line.
Right back to the six point lead.
Nice job of answering.
Payten Day calling for the shooting foul.
One more look at that basket.
By Brenley Matthews.
Kick out right there to the corner.
Matthews ready to knock that shot down.
Quick release too.
Got the ball right to shooting for him.
Let it go before the defense can react.
Milord misses the first free throw.
And Creekview has 14 fouls right now.
So every foul for the last 6 minutes.
Milton going to the free-throw line.
They've got to use that to their advantage.
This is really early to do that.
Both free throws missed by Miller.
Howard quickly into the frontcourt.
Herrick corner for Matthews again.
Oh in and out.
Did everything to go down.
The entire Creekview bench was up in anticipation for that one.
Looks like it'll be a jump ball, but before that, Triston Cooper called a time-out for Milton and we will take one as well.
557 here in the fourth quarter.
Creekview still maintaining a six point lead in this class five A championship back to live action here in Macon after this.

Larry Smith and the rest of the GPB crew bringing you this class five, a championship game.
And I tell you what, Milton they get a shot, they make something happen, and then Creekview comes right back and answers.
Great test of wills in the first couple of minutes.
Feel like Milton got one more run in them though.
As we play on here in the fourth quarter.
Caroline Young Davis.
Miller's already hit some threes and hits.
He hits another.
Three for seven from behind the arc.
And could that be the the the shot that sparks a run.
Defense here.
And they force a turnover.
Travell on Howard 13th turnover in the game for Creekview.
And again just like we said Milton not done yet.
Coach Herrick is upset with the referees about something out here on the court complaining.
About coming into that media time-out.
He asked where the ball was going to be placed on the sideline, and I don't know if I think the ball was placed on the end line, and that's what he's frustrated with.
Okay.
Because they told him it was going to be placed on the sideline.
So of course, coaches draw up defenses offenses based off of where the ball placement is going to be.
I guess that worked out.
And now we play on Deyva Davis.
Grace Musselman.
Now Milord Davis gets it to go.
It's a one point game.
And a quick five points now for Milton at the after they have struggled in the second and third quarters to score.
You mentioned just three field goals and two quarters total, two here in the last 30s another three ball here in and out for Matthews loose ball Matthews gets it back.
Shot clock resets.
Kailyn Hamby looking at the bench, ready to run the play, trying to double team her but can't do that.
Hamby drives in and she's called for the foul.
She draws the foul.
Warsh now is it a shooting foul?
The referees are confused.
One referee said it's a shooting foul.
One said it's not.
The foul is going to be on Musselman.
Her third personal.
Musselman picks up her third and I guess it is a shooting foul.
Kelsey mentioned earlier she's an 88% free-throw shooter, so she's about as good as it gets.
Three for four tonight.
Make it a three point lead again.
And she does.
17 points for Kailyn Hamby.
Three point edge for Creekview.
Davis nice attempt.
Rebound bounces around into the hands of Herrick.
Good elevation.
Just not able to finish.
Kailyn Hamby on the carry.
Turnover number 14 now.
Coach Herrick is not happy about that call.
No, no he's not getting the referee an earful right here during the 420 mark.
Milton still down by three.
Loses the ball.
That's Musselman tripping up on the drive.
Cowen court now to Herrick.
She pulls it out.
Now to Howard and the reset.
The time is on your side right now for Creekview.
Except for they're telling him.
Speed up, speed up.
If I'm coach, I want to take as much time off of this clock.
Every possession.
Howard gets that to bounce around, but not in.
And a rebound by Brunetti the freshman.
Milord now 11 points in the game for Milton trying to work inside at a time out by coach Cooper Milton wants to talk about it.
We'll take a time-out as well.
336 emotions getting high here in the class 58 championship for live action.
Coming up next here on GPB.
From ninth grade through graduation.

Wherever you go, there we are.
Here's our story by the numbers.
Georgia's 41 not for profit member owned Dmcs deliver electricity to 5 million Georgians.
Our network of electric lines traverses 73% of Georgia's land area, with operations in 157 of 159 Georgia counties.
We meet our members right where they live, work and learn.
Strength in numbers to be where you need us.
Georgia's MCs so much more than electricity.
Look at the Milton bench right now, trying to come up and find some offense here.
They have had a couple of mentioned long droughts in the game, yet they find themselves here in the final 3.5, roughly of this fourth quarter and a one possession game.
Caroline Young.
13 points in the Final Four win.
A few days ago, young again going inside.
Called for the travel.
Traveling violation.
Turnover number 16.
For the Eagles.
Trying to get their 28th win of the season and close out with the championship.
Great job by Deyva Davis on the steal.
Fouled by Howard and she'll go to the line.
Great defense right there.
Now she's got to be able to convert these free throws.
And Davis two of nine shooting.
With the steal a couple of free throws six points on the night.
And that one does not fall.
Just 11 of 18 from the line tonight.
61%.
Either one goes Canady trying to reach over and get the rebound.
Ball is loose.
Finally in the hands of Hamby, the veteran controls it, gets it to Howard.
She loses the ball now to Hamby being hassled in the backcourt.
Down the Creekview Grizzlies trying to reset things.
Matthews considering a three.
Herrick for three.
That's off.
Miller goes to the ground trying to grab the rebound.
We have a whistle.
Absolutely.
It's going to be Beal's fifth foul.
She just got back into the game.
Has only played 10 minutes this entire game.
And that's tough.
Lili Beal comes out two points in the game two rebounds.
That's a tough fifth foul.
There's just two players.
It appeared going for the rebound on that.
Milord shooting a pair.
She gets the first.
She's three of five from the line.
And a chance now to pull Moulton back within one.
Runyon gets her own rebound.
Musselman driving in.
She's fouled on the drive.
That was on Hamby.
That's her first.
Hamby 17 points, four rebounds in the game for Creekview.
Leader of this team.
Both teams struggling to score, though.
That ends a 2.5 minute scoring drought from Milton.
Creekview hasn't scored in more than 2 minutes.
Right.
Grace Musselman hits both free throws.
And we have a tie game at 38.
2:46 to go.
Grizzlies trying to break the press and they do.
Almost knocked away by Davis.
Day is inside working on Brunetti corner pass for Herrick young.
The rebound.
Here come the Eagles with a chance to take the lead.
It's a crucial possession right here with both teams not scoring a lot.
Young for three.
Rebound fought for.
Milord and Hamby.
It's a jump ball.
Possession will go to Free.
Creekview.
Good shot over there in the corner.
I mean that's the shot you want.
Just not a lot of scoring going on.
Milton four from 11 from the three point line.
Creekview four for 17 from the three point line.
That's right.
This is a 31 25 lead at the end of third Milton 13 points here in 6 minutes to tie this up.
Skip pass to Herrick.
Now Hamby.
20 time on the shot clock gets free for the three and it's in.
Big shot there.
By Hamby.
Understanding time management.
Her eyes go up to the clock.
She finds her nice sweet spot and knocks down that three pointer.
Yeah.
How about the nice between the legs.
Dribble two to get Milord off her pace.
The taller defender who's harassed her all night long.
20 points now for Hamby Davis.
The three Hamby the rebound under 90s to go.
And she's limping right now.
Hamby is limping.
She is.
Herrick call a time-out.
Looks like a cramp.
Yeah.
Quick release on that to get it up before Milord could get her hand in her face.
Creating that space.
Coach talked about Kailyn Hamby playing at her own pace, and we've seen that tonight right there.
Didn't get rushed like you said.
See what the time is.
Understand time and space.
Got the shot off.
Made the clutch basket.
Absolutely.
I mean that's why coach loves this kid right.
To have a special talent is what he called her up.
Have that kind of player and point guard on your team that understands the time management, you know, controlling your teammates, understanding when we need to go fast, when we need to set something up he's right.
She's a special talent.
Yeah, yeah, she really is.
41 38 now.
Creekview.
Five of 18 from three point range here.
Milton is really taking advantage of the fouls.
Plus ten is what they've scored at the line 14 of 23 for the Eagles to only four of seven for the Grizzlies at the charity stripe.
So 117 on the clock.
Milton still has three time-outs.
Creekview has 220 5 seconds on the shot clock.
Creekview up by three thanks to the Hamby three pointer just a moment ago.
Finley Howard back to his backcourt to reset things.
Class five Championship on the line to be the first for either school.
Howard in trouble gets it today and they'll say she was fouled.
Plenty of fouls to give right now.
You almost want to burn some of these fouls if you're Milton only had one team foul.
So I would have tried to burn.
Subbed in one of my bench players, burned a couple, got my starters back in.
That's right.
Brunetti called for the foul there.
Great job by Davis on the pass.
The steal and up and in.
Deyva Davis makes it a one point game.
Time-out Milton.
Here again Davis with that long reach textbook with the right arm to bat that ball down.
Off to the races for easy layup.
They're down by one.
A bit of a lazy pass there by Herrick Davis taking advantage.
All these defenders for Milton.
Just long arms.
She does a great job of extension Milord young Musselman they all do a great job there on the perimeter denying those passes.
16th turnover by the way for Creekview.
Looking at some of the Milton fans here in the house.
And you can believe Milton is going to come out with some sort of press right now, that is what has worked for them.
Intercepting those passes, those quick traps.
If they can get their hand on a deflected pass, they have a chance for an easy, quick two.
And you mentioned also Milton can't afford to be aggressive.
Only two fouls so far.
Coach Eric Herrick on the other side for Creekview.
If you got in trouble, he's telling his team we have time-outs.
Don't throw the ball away.
Right.
Full court press set up here by the Eagles.
Boy, that's a dangerous pass.
Herrick corrals it.
Howard gets across the center line.
Well, she's fouled by young again.
Fouls to give.
That's the fourth foul though for young.
7.6 rebounds for her here in the game.
In the backcourt to Hamby now to Howard.
They've got time.
To intercept that pass.
That's right 80 on the shot clock 15 second differential.
Some clock Hamby.
Now to Herrick.
No need to foul now.
Day inside gets it to go.
And the foul Payten Day the junior.
One more look at it.
There she goes.
Brunetti reached over.
Another look right there.
Body contact.
This is big.
A chance to make it a two possession game for Payten.
Day and it rolls in.
0:21 to go.
Creekview falling back.
Davis quickly into the frontcourt.
Taken away by Day.
And a foul on Davis.
That's going to be the bonus.
Now.
Jon by Day with the big three point play here and the block on the other end.
And she goes back to the line.
Two shots.
First one's good 13 seconds left again.
Both teams have two time-outs.
Get back.
They leave that one short.
Brunetti Davis moving quickly.
Three pointer early.
Boom.
Clutch.
Shot oh.
Time-out Milton.
Boy coach Triston Cooper jumped almost to midcourt, calling that time-out.
He did.
Now again here's the full court press.
Put it back on.
You know put your tall players out there including Davis who just has that athletic reach.
Get the deflection.
7 seconds is more than enough time for Creekview to get the ball in play.
Get a trap, get a deflection and score.
If you're Creekview though to to Coach Herrick point, you cannot turn that ball over.
Yeah the possession arrow is in Milton's favor, so you can't even get the ball and bring it down.
Hover it because the way that Davis's hands work, she's going to put both hands on that ball and it's going to be a jump ball.
Oh, so you got to be smart.
You can't just get the ball in and expect them to foul you right away.
Right away.
Yeah yeah you got it.
And keep the ball moving.
Like I said don't we've we've seen some some lazy passes I guess I don't want to.
That's a that's a negative connotation but some soft passes we've seen against this press that have been really dangerous.
We saw the one that Davis took away for the layup.
That's right over in the Milton huddle.
We just got some Intel pressure on the ball.
Full man defense tried to steal and foul.
Otherwise.
7 seconds on the clock.
Milton also stole a time-out left.
Creekview has two.
To your point.
You don't like what you have.
Are you in trouble?
Call a time-out.
You have two to burn.
Hamby to inbound quickly.
The foul calling Caroline Young and that'll send Brenley Matthews to the line.
That's her fifth foul.
Fifth foul on her Tomlinson.
We've not seen much of her in the second half as she comes back into her place.
Her.
So each team has lost a starter to fouls.
Chloe Hawkins about to come back in the game for Creekview.
Brenley Matthews in and out.
Still a two point game.
Smart by Coach Herrick.
He has a sub at the table for the shooter.
Voelker missed one time-out, left.
0:04 to go.
Straight to the basket.
Davis almost lost it.
Shoots up a three.
No Creekview hangs on for the title.
The Creekview Grizzlies.
We talked to Coach Eric Herrick about this team.
I asked him, when did you first feel comfortable about this team?
They had to turn things around, he said last week.
It's been an up and down season.
We finally began playing defense again and that really paid off for them tonight.
Yeah, you know the defense was solid for both of these teams here.
It really came down to the scoring.
Milton really could not find the basket for two quarters.
Second quarter you only scored three points.
Third quarter you only score six points.
The championship game like this nine times out of ten you're not going to come out victorious.
And that was the real crunch to their game.
Yeah absolutely.
Couldn't make enough plays.
In this one despite the defense.
Good pressure on both ends 16 turnovers by both teams.
But congratulations to Milton.
They go down 27-5 And the adversity they overcame is Triston Cooper takes the second place trophy handing it to his team.
Right now.
Again joining this team just days before the season started as their new interim head coach.
He's now the permanent head coach.
He's going to stick around, said.
He already has some great ideas and a bright future for this program and this young coach.
Yeah I mean you got to tip your hat off to Milton.
You know why offensively they just struggled the entire game.
Their effort was there for the entirety of this game.
But Creekview really stuck to the script in which coach Eric Herrick wanted them to do.
They executed when need be, and they hit some crucial shots.
Well, our coaches interview is presented by Bradyn Pest Management, the official sponsor of high school basketball.
Let's go now to John Nelson.
Thank you very much, Larry Smith.
It is time to present yet another trophy.
The third one here, day three of the Macon Coliseum and the Macon Centreplex.
There's a theme going on so far a lot this week.
We get to continue it here in just a second.
To do that, the executive director of the Georgia High School Association, Dr.
Tim Scott, and our friend Sam Brad Delp, pest management.
Hey, what a game.
Give these two teams a big round of applause.
Great game and congratulations to Milton on a great season.
And now to crown the 2026 State Champ Brad Delp Pest Management will present the trophy to the Grizzlies Crestview High.
And as you hand that trophy back, we'll be catching up with our coach and our MVP here in just a second.
And to the winning coach goes the interviews.
Yes.
Sir.
First time for everything, huh?
Yeah, I mean, first time for our school.
First time.
Been chasing this thing for a while.
Could not be more excited for our kids.
You know, these these kids have so much heart.
They love we love each other.
You know, it's very rare when you find that these days, but we absolutely love each other.
We love being around each other.
We love practicing every day.
You know, they're phenomenal bunch of kids.
And this is so special for our, our kids and our community and our school.
I couldn't be more proud of this bunch.
They've given me absolutely everything they had.
And, you know, they just continue to find a way.
And you've had to do it all on the road.
Congratulations.
The support is here.
All in Greene over there.
Creekview the Grizz get the trophy and they send it back home.
Let's send it back over to Larry and Kelsey.
We'll talk to the coach and player of the game in just a bit.
Sounds good.
Jon Nelson thanks so much.
45 43 what a barn burner here in Macon as by the way, we close out this arena.
They're about to tear this place down, build a new one here and so much history here at the Coliseum.
But you know, we talked going in about Kailyn Hamby and the the 32 point per game average, but this was really a team effort.
There were so many people, so many players who contributed to this victory here tonight.
Yeah.
I mean, six players on the roster put up points.
And while Hamby had 20 points and six rebounds, you're right.
It was an effort by the entire team because some of those points, while some people only had two points or five points, the shots that they made to put those points on the board were crucial.
As far as momentum in this game, which is what Milton lacked when they couldn't score, they didn't get that momentum and it was on Creekside Creekview side.
Absolutely.
I think about Matthews with a couple of crucial three pointers off the bench.
Day coming off the bench with foul trouble, getting the big three point play and the free throw late there to hold off this Milton team.
Keep them at bay and get this victory here for the Creekview Grizzlies.
Yeah Payten Day 11 rebounds.
Again a collective effort by this Creekview team.
Excellent job, excellent season.
Couldn't be more deserving.
Yep.
Another championship in the books here in Macon.
The class five.
A title going to Creekview.
The Grizzlies came here in search of a championship and that's exactly what they got.
What a way to finish this in another spectacular championship.
Ninth defense again winning a championship and the Grizzlies coming through big 45 43 in the championship win over Milton.
They'll have bragging rights for two schools, just 12 miles apart.
Much more to come right now.
We'll hear more from the Chancellor Jon Nelson and more basketball to come up next right here on GPB.

Hey everyone and welcome in to countdown to Tip Off.
I'm Nicki Noto Palmer GPB is your home for the 2026 boys and girls GHSA high School basketball state championship coverage.
We're currently in day three of our four day coverage, and we just finished the five a girls match up.
Let's take a look at the scoreboard.
In case you're just now joining us.
Creekview Grizzlies beat the Milton Eagles 45-43 This was a close one.
The whole game came down to the literal last second.
Boy was this one fun to watch.
Nelly.
I'm not going to lie, I'm surprised I still have a voice because I got a little passionate watching that game.
So proud of the Grizzlies though, coach, you've got Kailyn Hamby with you right now.
They were just the better team sound all round.
And while we were waiting for you, I gave Coach Herrick my pen and he went and circled some key things that we're going to talk about here.
Coming across the board.
We're going to catch up with Kailyn also in just a second.
So what you circled was the Outrebounding 31 27, and then the two quarters, the two quarters where you held them to a total of nine points, three in the second and six in the third.
That's insane to me about this defense.
Yes, sir.
And that that six points in the third they scored the first six points of the quarter.
And then we we held them scoreless the rest of the quarter.
You know those those two quarters you giving up single digits like that.
You got a great chance to be in this game.
And what we talked about before the game was I had a I thought if we won the rebound battle that we would win the basketball game.
You know, that was my biggest concern was keeping them off the boards.
And, you know, we did a great job with that, especially Payten.
Day.
Payten Day comes off the bench with 11 boards.
She battled her butt off all night.
And, you know, all of them, you know, K.K.
Over here was, was six or seven.
You know, we had a lot of different people rebounding the basketball.
They knew that was a priority for us.
So they came out and did what they needed to do.
All right.
Let's go to the flip side here.
You finished with 20-6 You look at this.
You're holding the basketball capital T capital B. How does this how does this feel with everything that you've been able to accomplish and finishing out your senior year as a champ?
It feels amazing.
I mean, I've.
Had confidence in this team since the start.
So it just feels good to, you know, win it all.
What was it like to do all of this on the road?
It was I honestly liked it because we were the underdogs for most of the game.
And we just we proved everybody wrong, that we can make it all the way to the end and win.
Go through the fourth quarter for me and how tight it was and going back and forth and what it was like to, to push through and come out the other side.
You know, it got a little scary at some times, but I always knew our team would pull it out.
And when we got in close situations, I knew that we were able to get it back and, you know, get all the way to the win.
Only two seniors on this squad, it's only two.
Is that right?
That's correct.
But they're pretty important.
And you know you have a lot of other participation.
You've got some juniors that are in there, some tenth graders that are in there.
I know one tenth grader in particular that gets to to share a last name that you get to share this with as well, some ninth graders.
So you do get a lot of different classes participating for that championship with those two seniors that are really important.
Oh, no question.
You know we, we, we have a balanced team.
We got a bunch of different classes you know, and they all share the same, you know, work ethic, the same grit, you know, they, they know the expectations and they just, you know, one thing I'll say about KJ, she may be our best player and she's a obviously a superstar, but she is the best teammate you could ever ask for.
She is.
She doesn't care if you're in third grade.
She's going to be nice to you.
She treats everybody great.
And you know that that trickles down when your best player is doing that.
You know everybody's going to do that.
She she includes everybody.
Same thing with Chloe.
They're just great kids who, you know, love, love their community, love their teammates and love their families and love to come out here and represent our school proudly.
27-5 wrap up with a two point win.
They get to take the fancy basketball home.
They get to take the trophy back to Creekview.
Nikk.
That's the story from this one.
We got one more game coming up around the corner.
What's going on in Midtown?
What a great finish.
Nelly, thanks so much.
Congrats again to the Creekview Grizzlies.
Well, we've got more countdown to tip off coming up right here on GPB.

Welcome back in to Countdown to Tip Off, where we just finished one game.
We're getting ready for another game and we've witnessed some incredible basketball over the past three days.
It's not over yet because tomorrow is when we finish out these boys and girls high school basketball state championships.
Now all season long, we've witnessed great basketball as well, and there are a few that we would like to give a shout out to, if you will.
We feel like they deserve to be celebrated maybe a little more than the others, and we call them our GPB All Stars.
Take a look at the girls lineup.
Time to take a look at the GPB all stars on the girls side, it is Alana Beckham from Hebron.
Christian heading to the University of Georgia.
Adriana Kemp, one of the few juniors on the squad at Dalton for the Catamounts.
Kari Flewellen from Josie.
She's heading to Radford.
Cameron Gholston from St.
Francis, the senior heading to South Alabama.
Morgan Landrum from North Paulding heading to B.C.
Lydia Ledford from Buford heading to Tennessee-chattanooga.
Gabby from Hebron.
Christian heading to Knoxville.
Findlay Parker, the second junior on the list.
She has a year to go at River Ridge.
Coco Rudolph from Graysen heading to Kennesaw State, and Zoe Williams from Woodward Academy, the third junior on the list, and the player of the year, Kate Harpring from Marist.
She's heading to North Carolina.
That is the GPB All stars on the girls side in 2026.
And there's our GPB All Star Girl Player of the year.
No surprise it's Kate Harpring out of the Marist War Eagles.
She is a state champion.
As of last night, she dropped over 40 points of their 58 points and was our player of the game.
She was ranked number one point guard in the country, was the Gatorade Player of the year last year.
She averaged 32 points, ten rebounds, five steals and three assists over the season.
And then last night, she finished her decorated career with 3,435 points, which sets a new GHSA record as the all time scoring leader.
So congratulations to our All Stars.
Congratulations to Kate.
We can't wait to watch her suit up for the Tar Heels.
We've got Moore countdown to tip off coming up in just a few moments as we're getting ready for the five a boys game.
Matt and Sean will be on the call.

Welcome back to Countdown to Tip Off right here on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
GPB is your home for the 2026 boys and girls high school basketball state championship coverage.
We're currently in day three of our four day extravaganza of covering the state title games.
I'm Nicki Noto Palmer.
I'm holding it down in Midtown.
My friend John Nelson, aka Nelly, my p a p I c. He's normally right next to me.
This is really weird, but you're having a blast here at the Macon Coliseum.
What's the arena like right now?
Yeah.
I mean it is buzzing because of the upcoming matchup with Woodward Academy and Alexander.
You're going to see a little bit of sky walking.
I think coming up in this one in just a little bit.
Woodward Academy they've got a lot of great pedigree names that have been really familiar with folks that have been looking at the GPB all stars on the on the boys side of things, Alexander they are chasing after a championship as well and really looking forward to this one last championship for Alexander was back in 23.
It's been a while for Woodward.
We'll see what happens in this one.
What else is on your mind?
All right, I love it.
Okay, so it's Friday the 13th.
Has there been anything weird that you've seen lately out there in the stands?
You know yourself.
I don't know, on the court.
I am not a triskaidekaphobia.
And that's just a lot of Scrabble.
It's a lot of ones.
And Scrabble.
That just means you have a fear of Friday the 13th.
I haven't seen anybody who's afraid of this day, because the teams that we see here on the floor, they have really attacked it.
And it's been fun to see all these first time champs come across, not just today, but over the first three days.
It's been really fun to see the variety of places.
And then earlier in the day, with East Laurens winning and you see Rabun County winning once again, they've showed out.
It was fantastic stuff to see.
We'll see what happens with these two teams coming up here in a bit.
Who comes out the other side?
We'll leave that one to Matt and Goldie coming up on the other side of the break.
Yeah that's right.
This is our nightcap for tonight.
Thanks so much, Nelly.
We're getting ready for the five a boys game.
It's going to be Alexander versus Woodward Academy.
It's coming up in just a few moments.
On the other side of this break, Matt and Sean, they're on the call.

He started with his coaching career and didn't cut down nets tonight.
Just so excited for that team.
Doesn't mean you don't have to clean up your room tomorrow.
