I have made it from one side of the floor to the other.
Time to find out who's the best three point shooter here in the state of Georgia.
According to our friends at the GHSA and the competition we're going to have on this here floor, Kelsey gets to hang out with me and let everybody know what's going on.
So I'm Jon, that's Kelsey.
This is what we look like over on this side of it.
And this is it's going to be fun.
It's always fun to see how what the range is and how they can, you know, sit there and go one, two, three quickly.
I'm intrigued about this one.
As always.
There's definitely a. Skill set that's involved when you do a shooting competition.
Stamina is number one, but I'm going with the freshmen in this group.
He's going to go third.
Okay.
And so it's Andrew Connell from Tift.
He's going to lead us off.
So it is Andrew Connell from Tift.
Tracy Adcock from Rabun County.
And we'll see Rabun County here in the competition.
And we are off and running.
90s on the clock.
The freshman Ryan McCord from Chamblee is also on the board.
And that's that's where you're looking at, right.
I am looking at the freshman right now.
We got junior.
He thinks his game resembles Devin Booker.
Okay so let's see if he can knock down some of these shots.
There's there's one right there.
Second rack gets two in a row.
He's got a rhythm.
He's got three for Moneyball.
Give me the money ball.
Oh third rack.
Let's see what happens under a minute.
He's got plenty of time.
So and this is what you've got to do.
Remember 90s on the clock.
But he's got the rhythm from the 45 right now it looks like 45 degree angle.
Looks like he's got that spaced out Moneyball.
Book it now into the corner.
Good release.
Holding that follow through in that corner.
Those corner shots can be tough.
Especially when you're in a building and you're not familiar with the the rims and the guidance and everything.
Give me the money ball.
And all the racks done in about 25 seconds.
So a minute, five.
And so Connell gets 17 points on the board.
The junior from Tift.
So 17 for Andrew Connell in round number one.
Now it's time for Ryan McCord the freshman.
Know Ryan is a senior.
Ryan's a senior okay got it.
Okay.
And he thinks his game resembles Steph Curry.
So traces the freshman.
There we go.
That's right.
Traces the freshman.
I told Ryan if he thinks his game is Steph Curry he needs to go shoot.
I was gonna say from the.
Stands.
Absolutely.
Yep.
So let's see what happens here.
Minute and a half on the clock.
Thumbs up onto the floor.
But here's your lone senior of the group.
Rimmed out two for four.
Moneyball.
It's a it's a psychological thing.
We talk about that.
You know, if you miss too many of these in a row.
Jon, you know, it can really get to you.
But the key is just to keep shooting Moneyball.
Nicely done.
Muscle memory at this point.
And we can kind of see from this particular rack, you could kind of see if it hits the back rim or if it's going to go in.
You kind of see that one tailing off to the right a little bit.
Moneyball there.
Last rack at 49.
I've always thought that these were the most difficult of the bunch, because you don't have anything to help you out other than the back rim.
That was a tough last rack.
He still had 34 seconds up there.
The pace in which you go around these and everybody's going to get to participate in both rounds.
It's just the sequence in which they will go.
So hopefully they'll take one or two nuggets from this first round and see if they can apply it to the second round.
Now here's your freshman.
Rabin County.
Rabin County represented here this weekend.
You see he's going over and adjusting the racks.
Look at this.
He's he's adjusting the racks.
He knows what he wants.
A man who knows what he wants as a freshman come in here.
Oh, Tracy Adcock he's just like, yeah, no, I'm not comfortable with it here.
And literally he would move the rack a good 3 " off the bottom and just slide it over.
So let's see how it translates.
He's rimmed out twice.
There's the first one that should.
Get things.
There you go.
Two for two.
Gain some confidence.
There you go.
Hit your rhythms.
All right.
And he's just outside the arc.
He's taking his time much more than the first two which I can appreciate.
He's not in a rush.
He seems more of a spot up shooter as well in general, just the way his stance is.
Square fire rimmed out.
Moneyball rack number three.
And it had a bit of a side rotation to it.
Two for two.
Plenty of time.
Three for three, two more to go.
And that form is real, real nice.
When he took his time, he took the dribble.
Hey, give me that.
Moneyball took his time and he had 27 seconds.
And Adcock finishes with 20 in round number one.
But that was interesting.
I don't think in the history of this competition we've ever seen somebody just kind of pause for a second.
He did.
He knew he had 40s left.
He doesn't make that.
You know, he could end up in second, not get to choose the order.
So do you want to go?
Do you want to go first to set up a number?
Do you want to go last to see what you your what your number has to.
Be one to go last.
I want to know what that number is to beat.
Because if if I hit that number, I'm going to put on the show for the rest of the balls and give the fans what they want and be a little cocky about it at the end.
Okay.
That's why you're the professional here.
I'm just the guy who's talking a lot.
And we.
Okay, so bottom of the screen, you're going to see total score.
Total score.
So Ryan McCourt started with 12.
And we're adding here.
Nice first rack there for McCourt.
Good rotation on the ball.
Good follow through.
Good form shooting.
Just the Moneyball in rack number 22 to go.
He's up to 20.
He's got to come alive though.
So you say that.
And so what happens.
He hit his first one off the top.
There we go.
Moneyball rack four is in.
So he's going to head to the last rack.
He's got to seal the deal right here if he wants to be in contention.
Look at Kenny Price.
He's getting in there for the shot right behind him.
I love it.
Here we go.
Five for five on the last rack.
And he needed it.
He cleared that last rack.
For one and for 20.
So 20 in round number two.
So he's 32 total.
So 12 plus 20 for McCord.
Slide the racks.
It's it literally it is a matter of inches and sliding it over to the side.
So Andrew Connell the junior from Tift no I'm not happy with it.
I gotta pull it over an inch inch and a half.
Line him up and go.
Solid after the first Moneyball.
Got it.
He had that sized up nicely.
You can see both of those guys now.
Ryan and Andrew have both slowed down.
Each of them had over 30s in that first round, really taking their time.
Found his spot as the rhythm.
Got the Moneyball in.
Rack number two.
Stayed in that last Moneyball shot.
Could fatigue.
Lactic acidosis is not your friend.
A lot of short balls on that one.
Hitting the front of the rim.
Last rack.
For Andrew and it looks like he is.
He is.
He does look like he's gassed.
Yeah he's he's trying to overcompensate with his legs.
Tough second round for Andrew Connell from Tift.
So it's time to do math.
So 31 for Andrew.
So 17-14 Once again bottom of the screen.
That's cumulative score.
And the number one gunner.
Here's my guy Adcock.
Your freshman.
Rabun County freshman.
Show him how it's done son.
Ty Halliburton that.
Yeah.
So this is for the Duke.
So honestly I'll Adcock has to do to prove that Kelsey is in fact prophetic.
Is get that 20 to a 33 or higher.
Here we go.
Got the first.
That's two.
Three.
Six pressure right now.
Yeah.
Look, he's just jogging.
No pressure.
Literally it is just jogging.
I saw him take a big knee bend on that one.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
There you go.
Moneyball.
There it is.
Okay, so that's four in that rack.
So 30 31.
All right, so next one does it.
Now have fun, have fun.
Take a couple steps back.
Carl Banks set a record.
That's right.
Clean the rack out.
You got one more rack to go.
This one goes to.
He is so locked in right now.
This one goes to 11.
Man.
This is took his time.
And I think what he's what he's done he has set an example.
I think he's also set a new track record.
First and foremost.
But what he's done, he showed if you slow down and don't go rapid fire, rapid fire, rapid fire, he has set a new example.
This tape, along with your prediction, is going.
23 in the round.
Number two.
And so here he is once again.
You see him just taking his time.
He's so locked in.
And again, staying with each shot instead of quickly going to the rack and grabbing the next ball, he's staying in that shot with that follow through.
There's your money ball and it goes to the last rack.
We're going to catch up with him here at the other end of the break and find out about his genius.
We should find out about your genius.
What do you think about the next game coming up, by the way?
I think it's going to be just exciting as the first two were.
Heritage Catoosa first time ever.
If they get the the win after 32 minutes.
Listen, those kids are gritty and can play some defense.
Basketball.
There's your swag bag for hanging out with us, our friends from BSN.
Shaking hands, shaking hands, shaking hands.
Once again, Andrew Connell from Tift.
Ryan McCord, the senior from Chamblee, and the youngster.
Showing him how it's done, came in here and got him the first place win.
There's your final.
So 43 I think is the record in the competition.
I think it is.
From Rahman.
Anyway, I'm saying it's a record.
We'll have to verify and let the people out there know.
Can we can we get a verification here.
He gets the basketball, you get your medals, you get your swag bag.
And he gets to take all that back to Tiger.
He is so composed.
He's just like yeah, okay.
He's unfazed.
I knew, I knew I knew it the whole time.
I knew it.
Team photo.
Part of the fun that we have here with the with championship week here in the Macon madness, once again, great shooters from the outside.
Chamblee, Tift, Rabun County.
Kelsey was right as always.
And I think we have a new record with 43 points in the three point competition.
We're going to take a break.
I'm going to run back to the other side of the place, and we're going to catch up with the number one Gainer from Rabun County.
Macon madness continues after this on the great GPB.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey, what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket and you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted?
Driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free and save lives.
Heads up Georgia.
You've seen what your electric cooperative can do for your home, your workplace, your weekend.
What lights us up is empowering your local community and economy.
Georgia's EMC support 15,000 jobs and invest $16 billion in infrastructure annually.
And because we operate at cost, any extra revenue is reinvested into your co-op or return to members investment with impact.
That's the electric cooperative difference.
Georgia's EMC, so much more than electricity.

Welcome back into our countdown to Tip Off live right here on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
GPB is your home for the GHSA 2026 boys and girls high school basketball state championships.
I'm Nicki Noto Palmer.
I have the honor of hanging out with you today through Saturday.
We're going to be crowning 17 state champions, but we're also going to have some fun three point contest in between there too.
So my partner in crime, John Nelson, he had a great call for the three point contest.
By the way.
Fancy seeing you doing that.
But I hear you have the winner.
None other than Rabin County's Trace Adcock.
He was locked in.
He was.
And he still is.
I mean, literally, he is still just kind of cruising through everything here.
So we get to catch up.
And our Kelsey Rogers, by the way, she predicted that you would win.
And we saw some stuff from you.
And I want to get into your like mentality here a little bit.
You were the first person I think we've ever seen, honestly take their time.
It's like you knew you had 90s you weren't in a rush the entire time.
What was it like out there for you, knowing that you had to clear out four racks of 90s?
Okay.
Oh.
I've been practicing it and it's just like everybody's rushing and trying to get their 30s you take like 30s to rack and you can still finish it.
How many times did you go through this in your head to sit there and it's like, yeah, okay, this strategy will work.
How much practice goes into something like this?
I shot with the racks every day just practicing and making see what I made like the most when I just take that strategy, when I made the most and used it in this competition.
Have you, have you always been an outside shooter?
Have you always have you thought about, you know, driving inside occasionally?
Have you always been an outside guy?
I can do all of it, but I can shoot a little bit.
I shoot my best.
And it looked like when you were.
And I want to get into kind of the machinations of it a little bit.
You, you weren't happy with where the racks were.
Literally, he was, if you, if you watch, you literally, you sit there and you're taking that rack and you're moving it like an angle or 2 " or something.
It had to be absolutely where you wanted.
It was that like back in the gym in Tiger where you had them lined up?
Yes, sir.
I didn't I didn't know how they had it.
I didn't understand how they had it like that.
So I had to feel how I did it.
I was going to say, so what was the difference?
So it was it just position differently or what?
Just where they picked it up from.
So show the metal.
By the way, go ahead and flash the metal to everybody.
So there's that.
So he gets the medal and that's that's to the winner goes the medal.
Go ahead and keep it up there.
So Stosh can go ahead and show it to humanity, but yeah, that's the medal.
And you know, did you get to, you know, exchange info with your fellow competitors there?
Were they are you guys going to share secrets now about shooting from the outside?
From now on, you're going to catch up with Chambly and Tiff and keep up with them.
I will, yeah.
Rabin County, I want to ask about I mean Rabin County making it to the last game of the year, you know, for the chasing after championship for for basketball season.
Boys and girls sides.
What has it been like seeing the runs that you guys have been on this year and one of you playing for a state championship?
It's the most fun experience I've ever had.
You just got to come and compete and it's fun.
A man of many words.
But this is what happens when you win championships.
You can say whatever you want to, whatever length you want.
And here he is right here.
Rabin County gets a champion.
He's got the medal.
He's going to show it off for the rest of the weekend.
It goes back to Tigers Mekhi.
That's.
Championship rock that on school.
In school on Monday.
Oh yeah.
Are you going to rock that on school on Monday?
I'm not as well.
He might as well.
I like that thought.
So he's.
Going to rock.
In school on Monday.
We need pictures and Instagram and the whole thing.
