The 2026 Dr.
Ralph Basketball Championships, presented by our friends at Bradyn Pest Management.
It is time for the fun and the in-betweens.
I like this this coed three-point shooting.
Yeah.
I love how you integrate both the men's and the women's program, so I'm excited for this.
And you know, I finished talking to an Adcock, you know, for, for winning a championship and he gets to hang around and see what happens.
Can his son win a third championship on the weekend?
Hey, why not?
You know, I mean, he did it earlier in the men's only three point competition.
I chose that.
Please make note of that again.
Made note.
And, you know, you just win a state championship with your team.
And now here for the men's and women's three point challenge.
Why not?
And we are looking forward to this one.
We are getting there.
He is right there.
I wonder what his legs are like right now.
You think you think he's going to be relying on Lili just a bit, maybe to kind of carry the team?
Well, when I asked them why they were going to win, she said, because trace is the best shooter in Georgia, so she's relying a lot on him.
Okay.
All right.
I see how this works.
All right.
You see, you see your your four pairs.
Here it is Ben Holland and Karina Barton from Walton.
You have your Intel on the two of them.
I do, they're both juniors.
Okay.
So both juniors from Walton and we have our once again, our duo from Rabun County Trace Adcock, Emily Southard.
The only freshman pair.
Okay, so we have two freshmen there.
Then next to them we go to commerce and catch up with Makai Mitchell and Kenyon Jackson.
Commerce.
Kenyon is a freshman and Makai is a junior.
So you got a lot of freshmen in this competition.
We have three.
And then you have Brandon Flint and Reagan Mulligan from River Ridge.
Yes.
Brandon is a junior and Reagan is a sophomore.
Okay.
So as I'm sure you've gotten all the Intel here, you're getting everything.
I'm I'm just copying your notes at this point.
I hope they're good.
Oh, hey, look, and if I can, if I can look, I can read your notes, and that's for me.
That's a good first step.
A lot of people can't read minds.
That's true.
I will tell you though, after talking to all four groups, the most confident out of all of them is the group from Commerce.
I asked all of them why they thought they were going to win this, and none of them could give me a real answer except for Makai Mitchell from Commerce.
He said, heck, we're the best with confidence exuding coming out of him.
So I don't know.
While my guy trace was my front runner for the men's only, that commerce team, with the confidence that they're giving off.
Well, and to take it away from a region rival because Rabun County and commerce, they're like rival rivals now.
They are.
And so you have this competition within the competition that we're going to be looking at here.
And we have Ernie Yarbrough, associate commissioner of the GHSA.
He's going over the ground rules.
River Ridge is going to be first up.
Okay.
And if you remember the rules yesterday, first round sets a baseline for the second round.
And figuring out order.
I still think next year you need if you win you need to choose.
You should get to choose option.
Yep.
But as it is you get the most points in round number one.
Then you're going to be the first in round number two to set the marker, but the scores are wiped off the board after round number one it's round number two.
That counts now.
And back me up here if I'm getting this, if I'm getting this wrong, step on me and tell me that I'm wrong.
You have two racks for each shooter, so you're going to see two racks being gone.
But it doesn't matter.
The order of boy girl, boy, girl doesn't matter.
You can do two in a row.
You can alternate, doesn't matter in this.
And so the first rack goes to Reagan Mulligan and they're going on the edges an alternating.
This time.
You articulated that so well.
And I have not had my caffeine.
And so it'll be interesting, right?
The, the styles do some of the teams go boy, girl, boy, girl, or do you stay high?
Like if I, if I get those first five balls and I'm four out of five or five out of five, I want to keep that thing going.
And do you have the do you have the capability to call an audible?
Like if you're thinking, okay, we're going to alternate and go, boy, girl, boy, girl.
But if you're if you're in rhythm, do you call it off and go, no, I'm going to take this next rack.
I'm feeling it right now.
Me personally, yes, but I'm a little type A, so.
A little type.
A just a little, just a tad.
Just checking.
Yep, yep.
And they got those four racks done in a hurry.
They did.
20.
So 21 on the board for River Ridge.
Hang on to that number.
So.
21 is your first marker.
And so now we go to Commerce and Makai Mitchell and Kenyon Jackson.
And they started on the edges.
And it looks like we're going to start on the edges here as well.
And you see Kenyon Kenyon is kind of, you know, she's she's fiddling with the rack a little bit.
She's not happy where it is with the spacing.
We've seen that a lot.
I don't know if this was false confidence.
McKay.
Now Kenyon Jackson's favorite two players that she watches and tries to imitate are Angel Reese and flagger.
That's not bad.
So she's a l s u fan.
Okay.
The swagger is certainly there for both of those.
Let's see if she has that same confidence.
Okay.
Off the front of the rim at the 45 on the near side hits this one.
Moneyball rack three.
So here we go.
Rack number four.
Kenyon is certainly carrying.
She shakes her head in the middle of that.
Iron unkind.
The good news is everybody moves on, right?
So, you know, whatever jitters or depth perception that's out the window because everybody moves on.
So it's a nine for Mitchell and Jackson in round number one.
And we saw yesterday our first place scorer in the first round, did not end up winning in the second round.
Yeah.
And so now we have our two time state champ as a part of this one.
Trace Adcock Emily Southard's.
And I don't know, I just I love a freshman duo, you know.
The confidence that's attached to a freshman duo to Moneyball.
Only getting that Moneyball.
And I, and I wonder, okay, so he's getting rhythm.
Moneyball.
He's certainly warm.
Yes.
That was going to be my point.
Yeah, he's he's got a good lather going considering he just won a state championship.
Well, and he's also shot on this.
This is the third time now he has shot on this rim in different scenarios.
So that depth perception should not be an issue for him anymore.
Lili hits the Moneyball.
We go to the final rack.
Plenty of time.
40s square fire bucket.
Okay, trace.
Come on.
You see the little bit of a screwball rotation?
All right.
And that is your.
Money.
So we got a.
21 there as.
Well.
21 now to Walton in the juniors.
Now, when I talk to these two, there was a there was a little miscommunication originally.
Oh Karina thought she was shooting on the other two racks and Ben had to correct her that she was not going to be on this right side of the court.
She's on the left side of the court.
But they have been practicing some.
Okay, this.
And Ben said he likes to replicate Steph Curry, so I told him he actually had to shoot from back here at the logo.
Saying he didn't listen to me.
Oh, justice.
The referee overruled me.
Oh, come on now.
But but if it's a three, does it matter where you are when you shoot it?
If it's a three, it's a three.
It shouldn't matter if the rack is where the rack is.
Just have the the attendant toss the ball to you.
If you're 30 feet out.
That's right.
I mean.
I love that release on Ben's ball.
That is smooth.
And you know, being a fan of the old ABA myself, seeing the Moneyball, the red, white and blue rotation, I love that rack number four.
Hovering at 18, no longer hovering at 18.
So we have a three way tie.
So how are we going to.
So we're going to go to the.
We're going to go to the cup again and have a drawing.
Rock, paper, scissors shoot.
I mean come.
On.
Sit there, play horse.
See now if you had a horse competition.
Now.
Somebody's got to get Ernie the.
Somebody has.
To get challenge.
Yeah.
With the TV wild card.
We'll sit there and we'll play horse if it's a three way tie.
So here we go.
So here's here's your math.
ICE.
We're doing it in pencil too.
So that's so there's your math three at 21.
So let's see what.
The ruling is here.
And it was interesting.
All four teams, boys and girls, chose the same racks.
I like to be different.
I remember.
I would just switch it up just because.
Used to determine the final placement for the competition.
Three ways.
High school will be shooting first.
That's literally the first time we've had a three way.
Tie.
Walton will be shooting third and Rabun County will be shooting fourth.
So up first from Commerce Makai Mitchell and Kenyon Cam Jackson.
Based off of time when they completed the round.
Okay, interesting.
So patience was not the way this time around.
So I didn't know that patience was not, you know, could not be applied in a tie breaker situation.
Kenyana has some real work to do.
So we set the order.
We had the three at 21 and now you have commerce.
And once again, that just sets up your order for the second round.
Second round score is what counts.
Makai Mitchell getting hot on the second rack here.
Can he get the money ball.
Just rim now.
Last rack 47 seconds.
Plenty of time.
Gotta get this.
So they scored nine.
9-9 nine in round number two.
Something tells me that's not going to be enough.
So now we dial it back up again.
From River Ridge High School.
We go back to River Ridge and Brandon Flint and Reagan Mulligan.
And the almost the mother of all tiebreakers.
We almost had all.
I mean, if we'd had all four.
But seriously, three is the first time I've ever had a three when it comes to a tiebreaker situation.
So Reagan will start things off with the high arc.
Hitting back rim each time.
He's got the height on it.
Huge.
There it is.
So Moneyball is in.
Glides in from Brandon.
The wrist flick almost got the full rack there.
Now to rack number three of four.
These money balls are crucial for the points.
Man that's a high arcing shot.
Reagan's hitting it.
She's found her rotation and just missed the money ball last rack plenty of time.
Fourth one Moneyball.
What are we doing here?
Got it.
Staying in the shot with the follow through.
I love.
It.
Closed down 17 for River Ridge.
So that is the new score to beat is 17.
The Raiders.
Have the chance to try and do that.
Sorry I was Miles Davis.
Wrong sport.
The other the other football Friday.
Get your rhythm off the corner.
Nice start for Ben.
Ben has a short flick of the wrist on his shot, but he clears that rack.
And they are rolling right now.
And you jinxed.
I did.
Way to get it back on track there.
Karina.
Moneyball.
Book it.
Rack three.
We put little ear pieces in their ears so they can hear us, you know, and so we try to throw them off.
I'm just kidding.
Noonan.
They told us they they sent us to the sideline this year.
Last year we were out there roaming around.
I mean, that that, you know, and that's always fun.
It was I loved it.
Were we a distraction though?
I don't know no no.
No no not at all.
We are never a distraction.
Karina.
Can she give me the money ball.
No.
20 in round number two.
High school, 20.
So they beat the 17 over River Ridge.
So that's the marker.
Currently sitting in first place right now.
So all Trace and Millie Southard's has to.
Do all they have to do.
And let me tell you something.
Raven County just finished.
So all these fans are still here.
Cheering that is awesome by the way.
No pressure none.
I'm going with the freshmen though.
The freshmen.
The freshies of the group.
There you go.
First one in okay.
She found I think she found a rotation in her spot.
Just missed the Moneyball.
So that's two.
Trace is really going to have to come on strong here.
Rimmed out there it is.
For.
Money ball gets you to.
Eight.
Got to know.
All right so that's five.
You got to clean these racks out.
Yep.
One more to go after rimming out Milli.
Can she get the money ball.
She's on the line every time she shot o h. Have a sensor go off every time.
There is an official out there, though.
Yeah.
And so trace with the money ball, they're going to come up short in the competition.
They trace could not get the three peat in two days, but.
The two out of three ain't bad.
That's not bad.
So your winners.
Ben Holland Karina Barton from Walton.
As of right now.
Unofficially.
So you get the 20 on the board 2017 13-9.
So the winners.
So they've wandered over to our friends at BSN.
So if they're getting the still photos taken and given the medals then your junior your junior pairing.
For being the presenting sponsor.
It's the BSN swag bags.
And thanks to our friends at BSN sports for hanging out with us and be a part of it.
And so here's Karina from the 45 degree.
That's 45 degree angle.
Was nice to a lot of these shooters over the last two days.
And Karina, she wasn't square.
She was kind of off to the side a little bit.
It wasn't completely and totally perpendicular, but she was kind of tilted a little bit.
And Ben Holland picks him up, knocked him down.
Missed the money ball there.
But Ben Holland and Karina Barton get your win with 20 points.
Brandon and Reagan 17 from River Ridge thanks to Walton.
Thanks to River Ridge.
Thanks to Rabun County.
Thanks to Commerce for being a part of it all.
We're going to catch up with the winners.
On the flip side, they get to run over to the other edge of the court.
The doctor, Ralph Swearingen, 2026 GHSA Basketball Champs, presented by Brady, continues after this.

Georgia's 41 electric cooperatives are anything but static.
Since the flip of the first light switch, we continue to innovate as the demand for energy increases.
Emcees draw from a wide variety of resources to generate electricity, from natural gas to nuclear power and renewables, so that we can reliably power tomorrow.
We're harnessing the current to satisfy the future.
Georgia's EMC is so much more than electricity.
So.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket.
And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted?
Driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free and save lives.
Heads up Georgia.
Hey there and welcome in to our countdown to tip off show.
We're live on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
We're currently in day three of our four day coverage of the GHSA boys and girls high school basketball state championships.
Well, today we've already crowned two state champions.
Most recently, it was the single, a Division one boys game.
Let's take a look at our scoreboard to see how that shaped out.
The Rabun County Wildcats take home their first ever state title to Tiger, Georgia.
They beat Southwest Southwest Macon Patriots 52-43 Now look that right there.
That score 52-43 was not indicative of the actual play.
This came down to the very last minute.
It was such an exciting game.
But Jon Nelson you were just on the call for this three point contest.
The Co-Ed 3-Point Contest with Kelsey, and you've got a pair of the winners from Walton Raiders Ben and Karina.
Congratulations.
The Raiders.
Got the win.
Walton.
This goes back to Raider Valley.
This is Ben.
This is Karina.
I got that right.
Right.
Yes sir.
Okay.
Wow.
Stereo.
Yes, sir.
All right.
So let me get into the strategy here a little bit because it was four separate racks and.
Okay, so I got to go.
Ladies first.
We believe in chivalry here.
Yes, sir.
So all right.
So favorite rack is usually what the 45 or the edges for you.
A 45.
Okay.
Yeah.
The wing shot.
And so the wing shot your favorite.
And then for you corner.
Okay, so who determined to order and who was going to be doing what and what order here?
Well, I kind of told him to go first because the pressure of going first was too much for me.
I didn't like that.
I had no choice.
I had to go first.
Well, she, she politely said, you're going first.
And so that's how that's how this played.
So how difficult was it for the adjustment to the the, the fact that it's the different rim, it's a different arena.
It's empty seats and all that stuff.
How different was that?
It just get adjusted to it and the warm up.
Okay.
And then Greene it up.
Okay.
Wasn't too bad.
So how was it for you?
It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.
I thought it'd be harder because it's an arena, but it was pretty good.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right, so now you have you have it.
You have a championship.
So they gave you did you get medals and stuff?
Yes, sir.
Okay.
So let me.
All right.
So let me see the medals.
All right.
So Stosh, if you would please go three shot here.
We got them all.
There's metal here, metal here.
So is it personalized on the back?
Does it tell you what the competition is?
2026 coed team, three point finals champion.
There you go.
So that's a very, very cool that you guys got that.
And they also have like the, the palming basketballs and all this kind of stuff and yeah.
See.
Yeah.
See there you go.
So she's she's got that.
All right.
So of the two of you, who is the better three point shooter.
Oh okay.
So you did defer.
Okay.
So you did say it was Ben.
Okay.
Yeah.
Now that you're going to be heading back to Walton as a as a champ, are you going to wear the medal on Monday when you walk into school?
I don't know.
I think we're okay.
Oh, come on, you can take the basketball.
You take the basketball, and.
Maybe I'll just pop them in people's faces.
Yeah, just palm it in people's faces down the hall.
Yeah, I think that's a Strat.
Yeah.
Now, now, for those of us of a certain age.
So you're saying that's a Strat.
That's a strategy.
Yes, that's a strategy.
Okay.
I just.
I just want to make sure that I was down with the lingo as the kids.
Say.
Yes, you're down with the lingo.
I'm down with the lingo.
Yeah.
All right.
So what happened this season with Walton basketball on the on the court.
What happened?
How did you do this year.
As a team?
We lost in the first round of the state tournament to Hillgrove.
Okay.
And what about you?
We actually didn't make it to state, so.
Yeah.
But now you got stuff to work on.
When it comes to senior year, right?
Yeah.
We do.
All right.
So favorite class really quickly.
Math.
Graphic design.
Okay.
So all right, so who's your favorite teacher?
Miss Reagan.
Miss starch.
Okay.
All right.
So how difficult is the traffic getting in in the morning to the back parking lot at Radar Valley?
Is it tough?
I go in early, so I don't get stuck in traffic.
Okay?
It's so bad if you don't leave by a certain time, you are not getting to school on time.
Okay?
It is so bad.
Secret to a good three-point shot.
Starting in the paint and working your way out.
Okay a good three-point shot strategy.
It's basic.
Give me my Strat for a good three.
He's had his.
Hand in the cookie jar.
Flick it.
Okay.
Yeah.
There you go.
Okay.
Just wanted to check and see what's going on.
We got a lot of other things to to hang out here with, and we're going to let you guys head back to Raider Valley.
Congratulations on being champs.
Let me send it back to Midtown and to Nikk and find out what else is going on.
We got some more stuff coming up because we got more basketball coming up.
Milton is coming up around the corner.
Creekview is coming up around the corner.
Nikk so it's going to be fun, but we have more champs with more medals, and we got their Strats for success.
Nelly I'm personally going to give you a medal for just holding it down there at the Macon Coliseum.
You're doing a great job, pal.
And congratulations of course, to Ben and Karina.
The Walton Raiders just won the Co-Ed 3-Point Contest.
Well, coming up we've got more basketball for you on deck.
We've got the five A boys, the five A girls.
Now we have seen some incredible basketball all season long, but there are a few standout players on the boys side of the game that we feel like is worth championing and mentioning.
So take a look at our GPB All Stars.
Here's a look at your GPB all stars on the boys side of the ball in 2026.

And there you have it.
Congratulations to the player of the year for the boys.
Colburn.
Landrieu out of Wheeler High School.
The Wildcat is committed to UConn and will suit up for the Huskies next season.
Now, Landrieu dropped 22 points in Wheeler's semifinal game.
He helped Wheeler win a state title last year.
And guess what?
He has the opportunity to do it again, go out with a bang his senior year on Saturday night.
Well, that's the boys now.
We've got to give our ladies the flowers.
Take a look at our girls.
GPB All Stars.
Time to take a look at the GPB.
All stars on the girls side it is Alana Beckham from Hebron.

Brianna Kemp, one of the few juniors on the squad at Dalton for the Catamounts.
Kari Flewellen from Josie.

She's heading to North Carolina.
That is the GPB All stars on the girls side in 2026.
Yes, a big congratulations right there to our obvious choice for the girls player of the year, the Tar Heel Commit out of Marist.
The War Eagle herself, Kate Harpring.
She is ranked the number one point guard in the country, was the Gatorade Player of the year last year.
Over the season, she averaged 32 points, ten rebounds, five steals and three assists per game.
Last night, she dropped over 40 points.
She dropped 40 of their 58 points for the War Eagles and was our obvious choice for player of the game.
Harpring finished her decorated career with 3,435 points.
She is now the GHSA all time scoring leader, John Nelson.
My goodness, that Marist game was so much fun to watch.
We've seen some incredible basketball and we wouldn't be able to do it without our friends at Breda.
No doubt about it.
And I'm going to ask the coach, Matt, about Kate Harpring, who is who is our player of the year on the women's side, and to see someone that is that dominant, to see someone like we had in the previous game from Rabun County, what's it like to see these kinds of special athletes for you?
It wasn't like this when I was coaching way more athletic, way much way taller, way longer.
But she was awesome.
And of course, I grew up watching Matt Harpring and of course, being a Georgia Bulldog.
But bottom line is Matt Harpring was awesome.
And to see those jeans carry down and she's set the state record for scoring, led her team to state championship.
Just awesome.
And that's why we just love being here, love watching this competition.
That last game was awesome.
Seeing the kid from Rabin.
Just go for 30.
He went for 29 and then he's going to Navy.
He's like, yeah, that's a perfect fit for him.
So he's got moxie.
Just a lot of fun to be here.
Yeah.
And you know, it's, it's great to have you as a, as a partner with us here at Georgia Public Broadcasting and with the championships, obviously your, your basketball history is a part of this, but also you get the messaging out that where your new life is concerned or your current life, however you wish to phrase it, that it's just as important to continue to messaging, to let folks know about being in the community in different ways as well.
We're in these communities every day.
And bottom line is, is we're protecting these homes and businesses from bugs and critters.
We love giving back to high school athletics.
It's in our genes.
Dad coached high school basketball for 18 years.
I got the pleasure of coaching it for ten years and learned so much.
And then to carry that over into business.
But about showcasing these young men and women giving them opportunities to be seen, putting them on TV.
And then we get to be a part of that, you know, and I jokingly put in the group chat to some people, I said, you know, this is as close as I could get to a state championship game, you know, as being on this side of it.
I'd love to be sitting over there on the bench.
But just awesome, awesome partnership with GPB.
We carry that from high school football Friday nights to the state championship football games.
We lead right into basketball state championships.
It's just an awesome partnership with GPB.
What's it been like to see a lot of this grow in the state of Georgia?
You know, you see football be a top three state when it comes to the next level.
You see basketball be what it is, heading to the next level.
You're seeing your business there at Breda continuing to grow and expand and make the impact that it is.
What's it like to continue to grow and be a part of this larger process?
It's fun.
It's challenging.
We grow because we're successful.
We're successful because we have 174 employees in our company and they're phenomenal.
But with that growth comes change and we embrace that.
But bottom line is, is again, going back to the roots, you know, we started with high school, high school sponsorships way back in the 80s when dad would give out seat cushions and on one side of the seat cushion would be the logo, and on the other side would be your school's logo.
And that always stuck with me.
And again, that goes back to the 80s.
I think we had eight or ten high schools in Gwinnett County.
Today we have 24.
So what is the next best way that we can give back?
And we just chose giving back to athletics through the state championship games.
And we just found that that was a great partnership and we're happy to be here.
Love you for it and it's.
Great to see you my friend.
It's always great to see you on either Football Fridays or here down in Macon at the Macon Coliseum.
Matt Brady, Brady Press Management, you see him handing out trophies here on the day and beyond.
So Nicki, let's send it back to you in Midtown.
Great to catch up with our friends all weekend long as well.
Thanks so much, Nelly.
And thanks again to Bradyn.
We're so appreciative.
Well, coming up, we're getting ready for the girls five A matchup of Creekside versus Milton.
You're going to want to keep it right here.
That's coming up next.
And then our nightcap for tonight.
It's the five a boys 7:30 P.M.
Alexander versus Woodward Academy.
That'll do it for our countdown to tip off.
We're getting you ready for Creekview.
Milton.
On the other side of this break, we're going to have Larry and Kelsey for this game.
Two physical, an athletic, speedy teams coming up.
Don't miss it.
Keep it right here on GPB.
I said I never joined.
Never knew I was strong.
I was joining the Navy.
Sounds crazy.
Saying never actually is.
